      @markbuildstx If you have a 15+ F150 you will need to drill a hole for the new sensor location. There are two good places to choose from. Upper left corner of the back or upper left corner on the right side of the manifold. I went with the rear mounted option and did not need a harness extension.

      It seems that Stage 3 wants something like $1600, but comes with an intake and tunes with a tuner. I already have an intake and a SCT tuner. So, I think all I would need is the intake ($300) and tunes for $100 or $150. Does that sound about right?

    I bought the complete kit from stage 3 motorsports and I’m hoping to install it soon. My question is will the truck pass smog with the kit on and the truck tuned? My initial reason for buying the kit was that I’ve got the imrc code on my truck currently so I figured I should upgrade and hopefully fix the engine code in the process.

    • @sKoutzyy
      @sKoutzyy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It should. I passed inspection but every state is different. The imrc codes go away when it's tuned. Just tell the tuner to delete those codes, 5star has a specific selection for tuning with it and in the comments just put delete imrc codes and once you tune it they're gone

    • @sKoutzyy

      I had a roush Cai that I've had for a while. I did have to wrestle a bit at the throttle but it worked. Some people trim it a little to get the flatter curve but I didn't wanna do that.
      Without the box it fits fine though. There is an aem one that 5star has on their site in a kit, if you just search that one separate from the kit it would fit fine with the new angle of the intake

      @@joerobbins3581 it's really tight to do it. It will slide in though. Just a little wrestling with it and angles. Def not meant for this offset. Without the box it should fit fine though. I had to squeeze it in to put the box back.
      You could also pop the throttle body off to just install the thing together temporarily. But if you want it very flush you may just need to trim the curve to be flatter than how it went into the original.
      Reason I didn't is because I may decide to upgrade to the gt350 or 18gt intake down the line and they have the same angle

      For the newer trucks I would go for the gt manifold. Gonna fit better and I think youll be able to hook up the imrc, plus advancements in the manifold over the years seem to outperform the older performance ones. But issue is the more expensive they are and I'm sure a few more things needing to be done. But plus side is with the 18 gt, the throttle body will sit the same direction and all

    Were you able to drive it without the tune, for a bit. I'm looking into buying the Boss 302 to replace my intake due to failed sensors in my 2017 F150. I've always done my own modifications, but this im slightly worried about. Mostly the tuning.

    • @sKoutzyy
      @sKoutzyy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can. I did for months. Power wasn't gone but it definitely felt better after the tune finally but it still drives fine without it. It'll show a check engine light though until you tune that out. What I've been seeing that I seem to now recommend is if you can afford the 2018 gt intake, it's apparently better. I may switch over one day. But this is definitely pretty powerful in a performance tune too. It has really good acceleration and definitely feels like there's added power

    • @guthrie_1
      @guthrie_1 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s little to no point in installing anything that increases airflow without a tune. Even on a MAP car. Yes you need to bite the bullet and get it tuned from a reputable tuner like Lund racing, or VMP performance. They have the fastest coyote vehicles. If you can’t afford it yet then you need to save up. Have the laptop and tuning software ready before you even purchase the manifold, throttlebody, and intake. It’s not cheap to do things the right way, but the right way is the only way you should do it.

      Sorta, everything fit, it more pulled it further down than up, but you can't use the box because the pcv hose won't reach if it's up that high and that hose is hard plastic. I haven't tried yet but I'm thinking if you just got a filter for the pcv valve on the driver side and capped off the cold air intake port, you can probably get the box back in and just have the brake booster line move wherever you need it since it's rubber

I've heard good things so either would be a good upgrade. Honestly with technology advancement if you don't already have this intake I'd go gt350 intake or the 18 manifold. 18 manifold i believe still has basically the same angle coming out of the throttle body as the old truck one. But roush will work. I think most will, it's just the way it puts the angle initially and the lack of using the box without any modifications. And you also have to take in account that the engines compression ratio and cams are much different than a mustang engine. The truck engines were made for more low end torque and you can only push it so far. It's definitely fun to drive around with this thing, but it's not a completely crazy change either

      Mine shifts, at WOT, 7000+ with a tune. Pulls from 4500-7000 like beast.

      211k so far but phasers need replacing. Have all the parts for that currently, just waiting for better weather

      @@sKoutzyy mines at the dealership rn with aftermarket warranty getting phasers done at 101K but been rattling since 67K lol. Warranty took 2 months to accept the fix they kept complaining but it’s under what they cover which is engine, transmission, and differential. Should get it back in a couple weeks. I got the 18GT manifold, lost like 50 pounds of TQ but gained it up top so just depends what you like. 1/8 or 1/4 I used to gap tuned V8 Camaros and 5.0s to the 1/8 before Gt manifold lol but now it’s a little closer up top
