If you have children, your retirement should be as secure as you taught your children to make it.

People like to examine their buds to see what the quality is like with them but it's great for carrying it around with you because it's only 30x26x16mm. Dart Mart ~A tiny in-river sluice, 2" inch dredge, 'or' small ground sluice is illegal (not legal) in BC "but" then as a huge hypocritical double-standard the BC government legally allows the logging of massive areas clear cutting trees on mountain & hill sides, allows jade miners & large mining companies to blast &/or dig large massive holes hauling mineral materials with rock trucks, 'and also' the BC government legally allows storm sewer drains from the streets of Victoria, BC to drain directly into the ocean untreated (not treated) that I do know for 100% sure from first hand but I was also told that this cities sewer is also drained into the ocean. Along with other towns and cities in BC dumping their sewer directly or indirectly into the ocean, rivers, and into (under) ground water with so called 'treated sewer'. The strange gold could be rock or electrum, could be a more silver rich deposit, it has sort of this kind of color, but i bet it could be other alloys as well, probably mostly gold but electrum and other natural alloys does kind of look like that in terms of color.

Who ever put those grates in went through a lot of trouble, I'm figuring that must have been a real hot spot at one time and they pulled some good nuggets. The question is did it wash down from the hill side or come down the river?
53philp ~A lot of trouble is right, yes, pouring concrete and all. But using iron riffles is not wise because of rust, should have used aluminum or zinc dredge riffles. But maybe in old times before this came out. Riffles can be made out of round wood dowels with waterproof stain 'or' with round stainless steel threaded rod. I bought some corrosion proof strong 'composite material' for making house decks. Looks like plastic but much stronger, it could be made into riffles.
@@royjohnson465 The decking is not corrosion proof, only resistant. The post consumer content is subject to the same degradation as wood. It is not stronger, at all, the lack of fibers and lignin make for a clay like consistency, that has surface rigidity, but little resistance to bending. The material is suitable for decking, if the spans are moderate and cladding for abrasion, like bumpers, because the surface rigidity and lack of fibers mean that loads will be distributed evenly through the medium, with minimal surface damage.

Hey Dan I feel like you've been doing this for a while and I've seen you pull some pretty decent sized gold nuggets, but what do u do with them? Do you save them until you have enough to smelt into bars? Or just save it as is? And what do u think is a round about estimate of how much gold you've panned or found over ur gold panning "career" or hobby if u will
@@jakejohnson4607 Actually, Jake, you are not exactly correct there. Size, Shape, Inclusion of Matrix (host rock) and other individual characteristics affect the selling price of individual Gold nuggets beyond just the Gold's weight and fineness (purity). For example a nugget's shape that can suggest a stylized heart usually sells quickly while a characterless blob sells slower and for a little less money. Some collectors pay a premium for "Craggie" Gold and others like some or a lot of matrix and others like just a single lump of Gold. Very small pieces of Gold are often just sold for the pure Gold's value - realizing that all natural Gold is a variable alloy of Silver and Copper as well. A nugget's selling price is all in the eye of the beholder, realizing that there is, of course, a basic value just for the Gold itself. - Joe -
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Lassi, collectors often pay a substantial premium (extra $) for a larger sized nugget - in excess of just the Gold's value. The vast majority of Gold found is in very small pieces and so when a larger specimen is found then the uniqueness of that size makes the nugget more value to the collector.
"Old timers" can certainly have a broad definition, but at 63 the folks I think of as old timers wouldn't have had indoor/outdoor carpet or Astroturf to line it with.
Every time I see him using a rock blade to cut metal I cringe. Even if you cut into a cinder block, concrete or cement to resurface the blade, it won't ever cut like it did before. Diamond core bits with resurface in a cinder block because of how the bit is layered, but you'll lose a bunch of cutting material. Not that anyone asked or cares, but some of those 4"-4,5" blades sell for $150 and up. Then there's braised blades for softer stone like marble or soapstone but that's another issue altogether. I'm going to stop now, seeing him cutting that bolt triggered me. Sry.
Yea, maybe after the first time he discovered this spot he should have bought a metal cutoff wheel for when he came back to it later, but honestly he probably figured he wouldn't need it after that anyways. Sacrificing a rock blade which he probably has a bunch of most likely made sense for his situation. But who knows.
Dear Dan, I WAS wondering how you were paying your help as you were panning at the start. Is he paying him by the hour? Splitting the finds 30:70, 50:50, with Bryson for the day? He was working like he was paid. … it’s not every day you get paid to gold mine! Another great video.
I often wonder about how much of Dan's gold them claim jumpers scammed when Dan first filmed the dream claim. They had a camp that looked like was there for abit and the dredge with warm water to keep them going for awhile too. That little snuffer bottle they gave him was pitaful when they said that's all they found. Makes a guy wonder hey.

I don't know how youtube brought you to me, but this is oddly meditative to watch. Cheers!
Your content is so great! I'm excited to see how this turned out!!!! You are awesome. 🤘
"Better be or youre walking", "Its my truck!" Hahaha that had me rolling. I was like no way he just did dan like that. Hahaha best part of the video. Even the look on dans face made it 10 times better.
As always, loved the adventure Dan. That was an exciting adventure. Looking forward to finding out the mystery of the amalgamated gold.
Even at 41 my young antics are catching up with me as well Dan. Still doing great work.
I really enjoyed these last 2 videos. Thanks Dan.
What an amazing find in that old timer sluice. Must have been serious gold for them to have built that. How sad it wasn’t jammed full of gold after all the decades working in secret. Still very cool and interesting.
You can buy mini microscopes online for really cheap. They are sold as things to detect fake bank notes and have a white and a uv led on. Mine goes up to x60 I think and is brilliant. People like to examine their buds to see what the quality is like with them but it's great for carrying it around with you because it's only 30x26x16mm. I think they cost about £10 or less these days.
Major surgery has a way of cooling our jets a bit. I say it’s good that you have help, fair that you’re paying him, and GREAT that you are still out there plugging away!
If everyone in the world took the time to go out in nature and have a good time like Dan does, the world would be a better place to live.
Thanks for the videos. Brings back memories of working the American and Yuba rivers here in California back in the 70's. So much work, but a nice find was always rewarding. Stay safe.
I grew up in SoCal, my dad is from Colorado, and every other weekend growing up we went golding..desert, river, didn't matter...my wife has been interested in it lately so we went to the only place in texas that has gold...and she's hooked lol
This video brought to you by Fruit of The Loom. :D Loved this video! Kept me on edge the whole time! Dan has great energy!
Dan your one of the few people I hit the Like button for even before I watch your vid. Never been disappointed thanks for the entertainment, great work ,wish I had enough cash to be a one of those who help u with your vids. Thanks again, and God bless.
Great video Dan! Really enjoying this series!
K k. 😆😆😆😆
Well, fancy seeing you here, Hornet King!
I’m subscribed to you and obviously to Dan!
It’s great seeing you here!
God bless you, Hornet King!
God bless you, Dan Hurd!
See you around, onward and upward bound! Hallelujah!
Hornet King!
Hi hornet king
You must be gay?
I love how genuine it looks like on part one you had shoes no pry bar and in this video you came with boots. really shoes you came prepared on day two
Dan I’ve been away from the videos for a bit. And it’s been because of depression. And this am I finally caught up on ya and man you make me smile and want to hit the creeks again. I’ve been busy digging ginseng gold in western North Carolina and the season is over for me now. I did well, made $4700 in about 90 hours of walking and hiking in weekends. So maybe one day you or pauly or Klesh come digging in September!!!!
A tip, when someone is prying anything up don’t put your fingers in the crack you made. Put a block to keep the gap open. Rare but if the pry bar slips the falling object could break or cut off your fingers.
Would call that common sense, but thanks for the tip!
@@BreakKaydenBreak if sense was common everyone would have it.
Yup I saw that too made me grunge for a moment.
Been there...
Glad to see you had some help out there Dan. I can't wait to find out what the funky stuff is. Happy hunting and be well
Paid or not, I think Bryson deserves some credit for moving all of those rocks. I'm to old for that work myself and no heart attack.
He did get credit... He made it pretty dang clear I don't know what more you people want lmao
@@getmeoutofsanfrancisco9917 Fine change the word to respect. I know he got a shout out. I also know what it is like to wrestle rocks 150-200 pounds. That is hard labor and alot of people would pass on the job even for cash.
Thanks Dan, you are a blast to watch with all that enthusiasm, makes me smile the hole time I’m watching . I would have had a grate time being a student in your class . Can’t wait to see if that is gold or not. Thanks again for the video , have a great week and be safe.
The real gold, is this dang channel, such good vibes
“An illegal ground sluice built by the old timers”. Isn’t pretty much everything they built now illegal in BC? Lol
Dart Mart
~A tiny in-river sluice, 2" inch dredge, 'or' small ground sluice is illegal (not legal) in BC "but" then as a huge hypocritical double-standard the BC government legally allows the logging of massive areas clear cutting trees on mountain & hill sides, allows jade miners & large mining companies to blast &/or dig large massive holes hauling mineral materials with rock trucks, 'and also' the BC government legally allows storm sewer drains from the streets of Victoria, BC to drain directly into the ocean untreated (not treated) that I do know for 100% sure from first hand but I was also told that this cities sewer is also drained into the ocean. Along with other towns and cities in BC dumping their sewer directly or indirectly into the ocean, rivers, and into (under) ground water with so called 'treated sewer'. Also allows 'agricultural' pesticide & herbicide chemicals into the ground water. BC government legally allows big environmental alterations and damage done by big companies and cities (& towns) 'BUT THEN' steps-on a small time artisanal hand gold miner-prospector as the evil big polluter enemy as a scapegoat is a pathetic joke. A hypocritical double-standard like I said before!

Amalgamated gold looks exactly like lead when it’s dirty or has been sitting next to iron just like the riffles in your case
Bryson sure earned his daily bread this day.
I loved watching him dig. 💪
Man, your enthusiasm is amazing! You earned my subscription today!
Really enjoyed the first video I stumbled upon, gained a subscriber! thx for posting and getting me through my work day. 😎👍
Im loving this series. I was just about to suggest you bring an actual grinder disk for cutting instead of the diamond concrete blade but right at around 4:30 your friend says he should have brought one right as I was typing this! hilariously convenient. I would love to learn prospecting someday when I have some more time on my hands. I also live in BC, just a little more south in Victoria! Great content Dan! Keep it up.
Iron is pretty good as attaching to just about anything, my guess would be a quartz, iron, and gold mix, grind it up and cupell it and see. Might be some lead in it, that one piece is pretty peculiar to say the least
Just found your channel about an hour ago. Looks like a fun pastime!
Might I suggest investing in a pair of waterproof socks though. I've been on multi-day hikes with sodden boots and had toasty warm feet because of those things. Can't recommend them enough.

Same. Apparently TH-cam decided Dan made great content that people like me would enjoy, and they were right!
Mr. Hurd, is it possible the strange be nuggets are gold stuck inside led oxide? It seems likely now since you found that nice chunk of lead.
Cuprelle it
exactly what i was thinking
Your optimism is truly spiritual.
These vids are a high point of my days. Thank you!
The strange gold could be rock or electrum, could be a more silver rich deposit, it has sort of this kind of color, but i bet it could be other alloys as well, probably mostly gold but electrum and other natural alloys does kind of look like that in terms of color.
Whoever built it probably dreamed on their deathbed that their sluice was full of gold.
I had two Aortic valve replacement surgeries and the second one didn't come back strong. Now I am tired much of the time and had to have a pacemaker installed.
god bless you
Well now i JUST GOTTA watch part 3 to find out if that strange stuff really is Gold hahaha. Thanks for sharing Bud 👍🙂
So glad to have found these videos! My dad was born and raised in the Yukon and his family have done some panning up there.
looking forward to seeing how much gold was in it in total

*"THE TOP GRAVEL HAS NOTHING IN IT!"*

Same as 7:15
Every time I watch gold prospecting videos, I feel like I see nuggets everywhere. 🤣
I really appreciate you showing the "busts" that happen and the empty pans that come with a day. As a metal detectorist I've met many ppl because of TH-cam that bought a $400+ machine just to try and sell it. I always tell people "You gotta understand for every 30 mins of OMG there's on average 8+hours of AW SHUCKS"
Maybe the discoloration, of the gold, is from efflorescence, calcium leaching out of the concrete.
I believe that it is gold alloyed with silver and other heavy metals. Have found that whete I worked at mine. Looked odd but was gold.
Electrum?
I think it’s oxidized lead. Faux pickers when panning here in Arizona.
Im curious if, to get those tiny pieces out, you could take that fine gravel and put it all together and heat it up until the gold melts together?
Someone once left me a comment on one of my videos saying ammonia cleans gold up so I tried it with really discoloured gold and it brought it up really shiny gold colour the way it's meant to. I never thought to tell you in the other videos but give it a try and see if it works on your stuff. I made a video of it to thank the person because knowledge ike that is priceless.💛😉👍👊
Every time I watch one of your videos, my heart starts pounding with excitement. I think you're either keeping me young, or giving me a heart attack, but either way, your videos are sooo enjoyable! My life is sooo dull, that this is my very favorite part of the day, and miss when you don't upload!
I SO WANNA GO EXPLORING THE WORLD AND DOING THINGS LIKE THIS 👍
Do it brother.
Life is over before we know it sometimes.
Make great memories.
Who ever put those grates in went through a lot of trouble, I'm figuring that must have been a real hot spot at one time and they pulled some good nuggets. The question is did it wash down from the hill side or come down the river?
53philp
~A lot of trouble is right, yes, pouring concrete and all.
@@royjohnson465 back in the "old days" when outdoor carpet was available? Lol 😆
@@shoreangler3383
I forgot about that, yes you're correct, outdoor carpeting is 'probably' invented in the 1970's, so not that old after all.!! Heheha 👍🤣😂
@@aardque
~Thank you for your reply in explaining. I installed some 'composite decking' and I thought it was weatherproof and rot proof forever and ever.
The real gold found in this video is the 400K views in three days... more than paid for Bryson's hard work.
I only watch a few videos commercials. But I usually get all of Dan's on his.
How much money u think 400k views is?
@@DeeJayShawnC more than $1000
@@ericfraser7543 that seems a little high tbh
@@DeeJayShawnC IDK I googled it it is now close to a million views. I watched beginning to end he prob is getting 5k at this point Google what a million views is worth if you don't. Believe me... Google has an algorithm for payouts.
That landscape and view of nature is amazing!!!
Thanks Dan I have done some prospecting before had fun doing and watching you reminds me how much fun I had.
Dan, how come you dont use metal detectors more often when sorting through the pan scrapings?
ZombieFeathers
~Yes I was thinking the exact same thing while watching Dan, as he dumped the oversize from his gold pan classifier on the ground. Even a metal detector with "iron discriminate" to scan the cement area where the sluice was bolted in place. Also Dan should use a mini-sluice with an electric bilge pump to process all the concentrates "instead of" panning.
Or just pin pointer to move around the rocks to see if he gets a hit
@@robertallenmcdowell
~Yes also a Pinpointer.
In this case, it would be full of rust.
@@royjohnson465 Keep in mind, the more things he brings in, is just more shit to carry to the site. Might be hard enough to get there and not worth hauling all that extra stuff.
Hello to those who care
Me:)
Hello from my bedroom in New Zealand where I spend 23 hours of the day every day.
Excited to see what a ground sliece is?
Check out his last video.
Not just a ground sluice but an illegal ground sluice. There’s always someone who thinks the rules don’t apply to them.
@@MadMarlin1964 oi dont be so negative, probably predates modern environmentalism by 30 years ^^
@@Zonkotron good point, but wouldn’t the sluice still be considered illegal even though it was placed/manufactured before the law was put into effect. I’m not sure ground sluices are grandfathered into the law.
@@MadMarlin1964 Not canadian, no idea. But **** the law. What counts is the spirit. And somehow a ground sluice seems way less intrusive than a highbanker running on a really loud pump, not to mention stuff that is forbidden for a reason, like oldschool hydraulic mining. It's silent, you can't see it from more than ferw yards away....doesnt impede travel of fish , kick up sediment or anything.....sounds green to me.
Dannyboy! You are a Dan after my own heart! I have always brought a pan along with me when taking my boys into the high Sierra's and there's a lot of gold left in them thar hills! So nice to see some young blood in to help you with those heavy rocks after your surgery! Awesome content as always Dan, super calming for my evenings. Thank you!
The more I watch you the more I feel you’re related to pioneer Polly
Hey Dan I feel like you've been doing this for a while and I've seen you pull some pretty decent sized gold nuggets, but what do u do with them? Do you save them until you have enough to smelt into bars? Or just save it as is? And what do u think is a round about estimate of how much gold you've panned or found over ur gold panning "career" or hobby if u will
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 it depends on the grade or karts
"Old timers" can certainly have a broad definition, but at 63 the folks I think of as old timers wouldn't have had indoor/outdoor carpet or Astroturf to line it with.
that's what I was thinking
Why did TH-cam recommend this channel for me?
Because I love this guy.
Keep that up.
I'm addicted to this channel!
Sry.
Better than just not doing it, or spending an entire day, fuel, and provisions fetching a better option, I suppose.
What video is that? Feel like I'm missing out, loving this channel
