- What a CRAZY trip to my DREAM claim. Spent two days with Pioneer Pauly and a few other friends gold panning and metal detecting my retirement claim and in a two hour time frame I broke every gold record I have ever set. Most gold, biggest piece detected, biggest gold ever found, best looking nugget, most WOOHOO's! I could not believe what I found. And day two the excitement turned to anger. What fun you guys are! I am hooked on your videos, I was paralyzed just about a year ago from my waist down. Prior to that I was a commercial fisherman / charterboat captain. Every day was an adventure. I have never been into T.V. or the indoors for that matter. Your adventures are a good, no a great way to pass my time while I adjust to posterior life. Don't change a thing! I am actually learning a few things which is an added bonus.
The way you state "Earn your subscription" really set you apart from many of the others! You're one of a kind Mr. Hurd and are the only subscription I currently have.

@@Raviolioverlord i mean, yoi don't know, but you could definitely learn. It takes resilience and hard work, but living in nature isn't that hard. Learn to farm and hunt first, then learn building and foraging skills.
I grew up here in the Yukon, so it kind of comes naturally, but it can be learned, we are incredibly adaptable.

Guys I took the risk myself, did all research I could scraped together the basics of hand tools and went to southern oregon and on my first day found flakes. Second day found .221 gram nuggy! I am planning on another trip we have not had rainfall in months! Right now is best time

@Dr D Yup, he’s weird in a good way. I really enjoy seeing someone enjoy life, act goofy, and enthusiastic about that thing they love doing. It takes guts to be able to put yourself out there. - especially on-line. Social media can be brutal. As a young person, I am guessing you’ve seen how it can harm. I guess my point is - I like Dan Hurd’s weirdness. He’s fun, entertaining, and enjoying life. I love that he’s not afraid to be himself in front of the masses. I’m guessing his students weren’t bored in his classroom. Kids learn more if they aren’t falling asleep. Lol
P.S. Don’t feel bad. I tell my kids ( not really kids - they’re 24) to never ever stop questioning. Live learn love. Find that thing in life you are enthusiastic about and run with it. That’s where you’ll find true success.

The law and jumping on a posted claim should be forfeiture of all equipment. it instantly converts to the legal claim owner. The only thing they would leave with would be their vehicles and the clothes on their back’s. Dan‘s making it sound like they probably had a bunch of gold in their pockets if I were a member of the RCMP they would turn out those pockets.

Hey there. If you want to get involved in the prospecting fun, check out the MPAA. They have a ton of resources, and even some private claims, that can get you started right away without spending a lot of money up front. Also, start looking around your local area for prospecting shops and retailers. A lot of them have good information on open use areas you can go. In most cases, don’t expect to find copious amounts of gold. Unless you live in Australia... Apparently with the right licenses and equipment you can find enormous nuggets inches below the surface in certain areas there.

The "elbows" of a stream like that, especially if there are crevices is where you always find the highest concentrations of gold.💯💛

In the video about the Greek video where Dan and Andy did the big prospecting he told he always lead friends keep all the goal. With Andy since it was a business Andy would keep 85% and Dan 15%.

Love Dan Hurd and his great information and scenery and gold experiences. Pioneer Pauly I found thru Dan. Love both these gentlemen and their gold finds and rock finds and everything they do. So relaxing to watch. They’re doing stuff I had wished I could have done in my lifetime but my direction in life went another way. All good though get to watch these two fine men

@@OC1323 It's in British Columbia Canada, I live here and there are many places like this where you can camp for free and enjoy the great outdoors. Just make sure you always clean up after yourself

I've never been remotely interested in prospecting... So why is this the second one of these I've watched today?
Because gold... And the silliest part... there is literally gold EVERYWHERE. A lot of it is so small, or so difficult to get to, that it isn’t worth the expense of even trying. But it is literally everywhere. If you live in an area where they have historically found gold you too can try it. Get a garden shovel, go buy a cheap gold pan (not that you don’t have the money for a more expensive one, but start cheap and work your way up) and head out to the areas that historically had gold. Once you find a little, you’ll be hooked. It isn’t called gold fever for no reason.

It's not drama and it's not his drama it's people thinking they're allowed to do whatever they want. Simply because they feel like it. Those people weren't worried about the pollutants they were putting into the river these are the same type people that probably leave their trash spill gas and think it's funny like fires and don't put them out. Those type people stop good people from doing good things.

My husband was reading thru the newest Kellyco magazine that just came out this last week and he pointed out that one guy in there, he wouldn't want to meet in secluded place and that he may have a blacked out van that you would be taken away and never seen again. You should get one of those crevicing tools that Gary "Two Toes" Honan sells -- the stainless steel tool with the orange handle. They work quite well.
Based off of what crevices tools I've seen on here, this thing with an orange hammer sounds like it could be an engine seal puller perhaps.

The real gold is that river. It's beautiful. It's a gem! You could just do 3 hours of ASMR video and sound of that river for people to play in the back ground or while they are falling asleep. Please don't tear it up too much.
Any "tearing up" that he does will be covered or destroyed by the next flood. That water is more powerful than any man or machine
My property has a year round creek... in 50 years it stayed relatively the same....Then a wildfire nearly killed us, and now, every year the creek morphs into something completely unfamiliar! By the end of summer it’s cleaned up...until the first heavy rain! , usually in October..Then I don’t bother it until springtime again! This year should be interesting...we are in the first full season of El Niño! Last year was the most bizarre with storms of the quadruple Atmospheric rivers nearly flooding us out...and then snow!
Claim jumpers should not only be charged but all of their equipment should be taken from them! They might think twice about doing it again if thousands of dollars of equipment is seized and never returned!!!! Some really nice gold Dan😍 looking forward to the next vid👍🏻
Back in they day they would be shot. Personally I would rather get permission first or I just dump the gold back in a good spot if I find a good sample pan and let the claim owner know

So that's 100% my bad for not noticing he edited it. I just found out he lives in Canada, here in the US a judges decision is used in future cases. I don't know anything about other countries legal systems so I guess you got me there.

So here’s the thing , I’m not really big on prospecting although my father certainly loved the idea . Don’t get me wrong , im a big fan of gold just not the work that’s involved in obtaining it from the earth . Dan gets my subscription not because of my interests but from the fact he is so engaging and entertaining while teaching something about a part of my father’s life that has been more of a mystery to me. I think now I understand him and my own spirit a little more .

Secondly,I feel very sad and somewhat uncomfortable about your claim jumpers again. For me,I’m a suspicious soul ,if it were me,I wouldn’t be showing so much on the drone,as beautiful as it is. I certainly feel this,because as you say,it’s your retirement claim. That’s pretty darn serious. Please protect yourself more,you do not deserve it to be taken away from you- you work hard,do research etc and this is for your future. What happens to the equipment the claim jumpers use when they are caught? I hope they loose it.

It's safe to assume that as it's considered a crime with charges laid, all of that equipment will most likely be seized.
Hopefully the claim owner has legal possession of it , cars, quads every thing except the jocks on their thieving ass.

I don't usually enjoy these kind of videos, but I always seem to find myself intrigued by Dan's channel.
That was a very exciting episode! I never heard of claim jumping but then again, I never knew there were still people prospecting for gold. Maybe this is something I want to do when I retire. I'm really good a finding things. Not so much finding treasure but the actual experience of finding something gives me a thrill.
Hang claim jumpers upside down from the trees to discourage other claim jumpers!
@@kickit59 Or just confiscate all their equipment. It costs something to have police respond & do all the paperwork after. Seizing & selling off their gear might cover those costs.
Dan's got a hell of a retirement package coming 😄. I'm guessing he's the kind of guy who is probably investing some of this into his students/classes but I may be wrong assuming that. But he seems to humble to be greedy and hoarding this for himself.
