It looks to me like the lead was an intrusive deposit in a quartz amalgamate. Like the gold your finding it was broken free from hydro dynamics basically a lead/ silver deposit. So you not only have gold in them thar hills. Ya got lead too! The colorization did come from the sluice, the iron oxides leaching out during run off and the exposure to oxygen when the levels dropped would definitely cause colorization like that. As for the gold, two possible answers, inclusive in the deposit or it was hammered into the lead by the water forcing small rocks to force it into the lead. No matter what you had an opportunity to experiment with metals deposited together then changed by the environment and elements. That's always cool! Thanks for not only taking us on an AU candy hunt but posing an interesting question. Perhaps next time try to smelt for silver and see what happens. The gold will drop out in either case but with the lower temperatures the separation will retain the base metals in their weights what a button that would be! Thanks Dan!👍⛏️
Seems to me that the yellow lead was exactly that, 'yellow lead' otherwise known as massicot, a specific crystalline structure of lead(II) oxide. There seemed to be all sorts of different lead oxides in there, all naturally occurring but quite possibly aided by the addition of the sluice!

You won't typically find "yellow cake" out naturally on the planet. That form of Uranium is typically only created during an intermediary step in processing uranium ore. Yellowcake concentrates are prepared by various extraction and refining methods, depending on the types of ores. Typically, yellowcakes are obtained through the milling and chemical processing of uranium ore forming a coarse powder. And although uranium is one of the densest metals on Earth, yellowcake is relatively light, with a density approximately that of elemental sulfur. So in that incredibly rare chance that you ever did come across a natural yellowcake formation, you wouldn't find it through panning for gold because it would wash out.

The terms fizz and bubbling are good descriptors, but I would love to see you explain the gas evolution based on the chemical reaction taking place. I'd be happy to help if needed. I'm a chemical physicist down in Texas. Still a good video regardless. 👍🏼

Hi Dan, I really enjoy your videos, well done. One thing I always say to myself is, have you ever thought of story telling ? I'm sure kids would absolutely love hearing you read those stories with such a melodious voice. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
I'm fairly confident what you had was Lead Oxide in a orthorhombic lattice structure, it appears yellow and is found in the wild as massicot. That's based on the appearance of the mineral and the color of the HCL solution, it's not very soluble in water but is soluble in HCL. Adding a bit of potassium iodide to the HCL solution would precipitate Lead Iodide which looks also looks yellow/gold but isn't soluble in HCL.

I have refined placer gold from different places, and after dropping the pure gold out of soultion, i use amonia to test for copper and meuriatic acid to test for silver and have found copper left over a couple times so im sure almost any metal can amalgomate with gold in high temps and the right circumstances.
So glad to get to the bottom of the mystery material!
Hi Dan, been watching your vids for a while now. Great content, love the scenic beauty of your claims. I live down here in the Lower Mainland and always dreamt to explore and prospect, so I live vicariously through you. Keep up the good work and here's hoping you find the motherlode one day. Cheers
Let's get Lit! Interesting to see the whole process over the three videos. Liked seeing the testing at the end. Now I can't wait til next Sunday 10:15 am EST.
Hey Dan. Nice videos. Just started watching. You do a great job of explaining the history and process. It gives your videos an educational element that I believe is very attractive. The terms fizz and bubbling are good descriptors, but I would love to see you explain the gas evolution based on the chemical reaction taking place. Even if the exact chemical mechanism is unknown, the class or family of reactions can be speculated to explain the gas evolution and add a deeper scientific feeling to your videos and knowledge. I'd be happy to help if needed. I'm a chemical physicist down in Texas. Still a good video regardless. 👍🏼
The white coated bits are Lead I'm sure. It forms a white coat on its surface over time with the right pH around it.
Thanks Dan. It's fun to share in your adventures and learn about the finer points of prospecting.
You came up as a recommend short and I really enjoyed it so now I’m subbed!
Dan I swear your Vibe is like the Bob Ross of the gold world I love watching the channel bro keep it up good work
Thats interesting, I couldn't here you speak when you had the lead in the fire. So I turned on CC and it interpeted the sound of the flame as applause.
Dan I have just watched the videos on the old time sluice setup! Very interesting seeing how you worked the area & panned the gravel! I have just subscribed and I am looking forward to watching many more of your videos! Thanks for the great content!
I like your little oven, I have access to a electric stove, very hot to deal with as expected. yours seems easier to use.
You mentioned you were going to burn the carpets. I may have missed a new mention of it, but the prospect (lol) of that interested me.
Hi Dan, I really enjoy your videos, well done. One thing I always say to myself is, have you ever thought of story telling ? I'm sure kids would absolutely love hearing you read those stories with such a melodious voice.
Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
I am sorry about the lead, but the testing process is awesome. Thank you! ❤️
I hated science in school. Failed miserably. If you were my teacher, I would have LOVED it! You the man, Dan!
My guy love your energy, ive never had an interest in gold mining untill now, subscription earned
I'm fairly confident what you had was Lead Oxide in a orthorhombic lattice structure, it appears yellow and is found in the wild as massicot. That's based on the appearance of the mineral and the color of the HCL solution, it's not very soluble in water but is soluble in HCL. Adding a bit of potassium iodide to the HCL solution would precipitate Lead Iodide which looks also looks yellow/gold but isn't soluble in HCL.
little tip if u want to video hot things without ruining the plastic camera, use a tripod and have it much further away from the heat and use the zoom. soo in this case have it high above and use zoom to get the frame right :)
