Hello Ratarossa I am from Brazil, and i have a Scuderia 2008 with 29k km ( 18k miles). This car’s gearbox started shifting itself to Neutral when I shifted from 4 to 5th, only if I was going under 4k rpm. And only after more than 30 minutes driving the car. If I shifted in Superfast mode (more than 4k and above 50% throttle), the system works fine. If I put the 5th, in Superfast mode, I can go to 6, 5, 4, 3, 4, 5, 6 with no problems. If I do 2 gear, then 3, 4….. no 5. It will only shift properly from 4 to 5 with Superfast or normal mode, with the car cold. The car, in the beginning of my time with it, had always shown P1768 ( the error regarding the Superfast not learned.) I trained several times to do this calibration, some times with SD3, TEXA or with LAUNCH with no success. Even to do DEIS CALIBRATION, after the fail in DEIS, the car would not start. After that, we started changing the clutch, here is a list with all the actions that we have already attempted to solve the problem. Clutch 222090 Clutch bearing 234943 Mouting Flange 207539 And clutch position sensor. 219340 After this, DEIS calibration worked, but only if I tried with the car being cold, iftit runs more than 10 minutes, I got the message, DEIS FAILED CLUTCH SOLENOID EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE - ( something like that ). If I wait, DEIS START TO WORK again. But the main symptom, remains. 4-5 after cars is hot. I had the brilliant idea to cool down the clutch pressure sensor 203294, I did this, and it came back to work. I tried to measure the temperature on the sensor with a laser gun, and the temperature was about 120 Celsius degrees when the car starts to fail. On the next day, I warmed up the sensor with a heater gun, until 120 celsius, without turning on the engine… As soon I started the car, I started to have problems…. Then we bought a new pressure sensor, 203294. Nothing changed… I started to think that my actuator had too much play, because the pot values are different, as you move the finger by hand. I went to the US, and rebuild the actuator with GTE Engineering. They tested everything and told me that my actuator had a lot play, and also some leakage. Serkan seems to do a nice job, and rebuild my actuator. I installed it again, and had the same issue. Problem 4 to 5 when the car is hot, under no load…. After this, we disassemble the valve body, cleaned in ultrasonic cube. We changed the EVF solenoid, that have too much leakage 100-150 cc/mim. My pump was Turing on so often, like every 30, 40 seconds… after the new EVF, we start to have 6 to 7 minutes in idle, before pump on. Now we have 10.2 cc/mim and 13.2 cc/min. Nothing changed in the main symptom. The car was not able to complete the Superfast self learning. I checked the current in the pump motor with the oscilloscope and realize the the motor is starting to fail… I put a new motor 248083, then the car starts to do the super fast learning, no more P1768. Any error. Nothing changed in the main symptom. Now the car can do self learning, DEIS, Superfast calibration, my delta actuator center changes between -102 and -118. But the main symptom do not change. When my Evaluated transmission oil temperature goes above 50 degrees Celsius, the problem starts to happen again. Somewhere in this meantime, I also bought a new TCU. My original TCU is 02.10.08 SW: EAGD51W07, and the new one is 26.08.16 SW: EAGD53Y04. Both TCU can do the 3 learning routines, When the problem starts, I can stop the car, change the TCU and nothing changes about the symptom. When the car fails, that gearbox sign in the dash stays on, and it also doesn't show any errors in the scanner. If I tried to engage any gear, the system would not allow, I needed to turn off the car, wait a few seconds to the GEAR indicator in the dash to turn off, press both paddle to put the car in neutral ( the car being already in neutral, sometimes flashing, sometimes no), started the car again, and everything started to work again, the car will fail in 4-5, with light load, under 4k rpm, If I go to 5 by "Superfast", I can use 6, 5, 4, 3, 4, 5, 6 or any sequence, with no problem. IF, for any reason, I put the 2 gear... 3, 4, when it comes to 5, the problem would appear again. I am using 75w140 MOTUL GEAR FF on my gearbox, but I have the same issue with the original Shell, with 75w90 MOTUL gear and with 75w90LS MOTUL. In the F1 I am already trend CHF 11S, MOTUL MULTI ATF, and Shell DONAX. No changes in my symptom. I am uploading some videos and photos to TH-cam to show exactly the problem. Anyone have any other suggestions? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading my Scuderia novel until the end.
Once again, Ratarossa breaks new ground by allowing us to follow along as he troubleshoots and repairs the enigmatic F1 transmission. Anyone who plans on keeping their 360 for any length of time will eventually be faced with expensive F1 repairs. F1 repair videos or guides are non-existent (AFAIK), so this video stands by itself. That it was created by a non-professional mechanic is even more amazing. Unfortunately, Ratarossa doesn’t share important parts of his repair. What diagnostic computer did he borrow to bleed and reprogram the transmission? A Launch X431? A Leonardo? Who knows? These are important questions that anyone wishing to flush, reprogram, or adjust the PIS on their F1 would like to know. What about the actuator alignment tool; how was that used? Where did he get the actuator pin? That’s not clear either. Ratarossa demonstrates that an enthusiast can repair their own F1 transmission with the right resources; he just doesn’t detail what all of those resources are.
For pins like that a little liquid nitrogen from a electronics duster bottle turned upside down can super cool it enough to make the re-installation a little easier. Great series! Helping a ton with my Maserati.
Great work! I’m working in Italy for an authorized Magneti Marelli Service. I worked many times on selespeed systems but mostly on Fiat/Abarth, never on Ferrari. Great job!
very well done! I wish for MORE 430 content as I have one ! one thing I did was upon the advice of a petroleum engineer was to flush the F-1 system and replace the fluid w/ Royal Purple synthetic power steering fluid and surprisingly, it DOES work better ! shifts faster and smoother !
Outstanding! Another great video, what an achievement! You've literally saved yourself thousands and learned more about the car. Great tenacity to tackle this job yourself. Thanks for sharing, an inspiration to an aspiring Ferrari owner 👍👍 Regards. Dave
Always great videos and so much help to keep the hobby affordable. Looking forward to a new one :-) One question where did you get the titanium pin as mine is also broken and want to change it myself. Many thanks from the Netherlands🙏
This was really good ! I love the fearless way you approach things. I'd be terrified of break it :) Looks like for the ancillaries these things might actually be affordable for a competent mechanic to maintain. Though I dread to think how expensive something might be if the block/ cyclinder head had problems #remortgage
Did you change the seals on the actuator? In previous video, there were o rings on the shafts and o rings on a screw. My f430 actuator is leaking but shifts perfect. Curious if you changed all o rings or seals (whatever they look like) when re assembled. Been nice to see it go back together!!!!
Rata - your cars are always broken mate! Just love your videos - so honest and helpful. Where in the UK are you? I want to look out for your cars and race you in my XKR 😉
Hello sir Thank you very much for all your hard work on the Ferrari videos. I have rebuilt a 360 that was the victim of a interior fire which was severely damaged. I have the car running and now I am dealing with a F1 gearbox problem. I also have purchased the computer system you recommended and have yet to use it. I have looked for a video that explained how the F1 gearbox actually works. It would be great if you could answer one question for me. How does the F1 transmission keep the selected gear engaged. My car runs great shifts great except for running in sixth gear. It will drop out while I am driving. I did not have this problem until I started experimenting with different gear oil viscosity’s to minimize crunch shifting which is probably due to worn synchronizers. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you. I mentioned it in the first video of the 3 where I was diagnosing the problem. th-cam.com/video/g4nhwNnohME/w-d-xo.html basically the car was driving then got stuck in neutral.... lucky it wasn't stuck in a gear so I was able to get it onto a tow truck easily.
Hey @ratarossa can you talk more about the Software? I just purchased the X431 Pro but none of these features are available on the 360 Modena screens. I noticed when I zoomed that you have the computer looking at the 430. Can you explain this more?
Scott , is the diagnostic computer you used is the only one you know of that can run the transmission relearn? I’m trying to determine if there is one unit I can buy that will handle all my DIY work on my 360 . Thanks, Jim
Where did you get the Maserati unit that didnt work? Im 90% sure my pins are broken in my gransport and will be taking it apart soon. Ive hooked her up to my x431 and pressures and everything else is checking out and im hearing a clunk from the actuator and am stuck in neutral. Help would be amazingly appreciated. Subscribed.

Great job but you're missing important parts in this video. GTE Engineering has being doing it for 8 years already. If you can't do it contact us and we can help with your F1 actuator.
@@Ratarossa ok kinda expensive, i like the older Ferrari over the Porsche, don't like the way older porche sound and the boxer engine design leaks oil everywhere. Could u convert a straddle 360 to regular clutch pedal type gearbox. I was just asking because the transmission set up in your car seems kinda complex as the car gets older because of the computer and actuators and stuff.
i need your help! I have Maserati Granturismo MC stradale 2014 with f1 transmission 100.000km. The problem is when the weather is cold like under 12-13 degrees when i start the car in the morning, the reverse gear can’t enter, but the 1st gear can enter without problem. After 10 min driving when the car get worm the reverse gear enter normal without problem!!!! Any one know what is the problem? I check the battery and it’s okey. I charge the battery few times a week! Thank you !!

what is the diagnostic software you use on the acer tablet? and where can I get this as also connector I would appreciate your answer

yes about 10k to do it as they replace the actuator
