For the friggen life of me I cannot imagine why Dan only has 77k subs. Ive been watching him for quite some time, he's the reason I bought my 458 and put a IPE F1 exhaust on it. I know he doesn't do stupid nonsense like most other car TH-cam channels but it just baffles my mind how normal exotic car lovers dont love this channel watching all this.
I am often surprised when I talk to Ferrari owners that they don’t know of the NormalGuy channel. I don’t get how you wouldn’t know it as a Ferrari owner, given how NG videos show up in so many Ferrari related searches.
Love that you’re doing more of these common failure item repair videos. Selfishly, this saves me a ton of time trying to explain issues on FB. Now I can just point folks to your channel. Keep up the great work, Dan and team.
Another great DIY video..... i love learning about the different components and how they operate and mostly how to diagnose and repair the issues....thank you so much for sharing your knowledge guys....
Seeing that exhaust near those hydraulic lines brings me to memory when Dan changed the exhaust in his 430 and cut one of the lines and had fluid all over the floor hahah. This was loooong time ago .
@@normalguysupercar it’s just dropping to N when braking from 4 to 3rd, you still think pump or accumulator? Looking at you other vid, it holds pressure for far longer than 2min
Anyone try bleeding the system only to find no fluid exits the bleeder screw? My car is stuck in neutral, can’t shift even with key on engine off, F1 pump comes on for 5 seconds and stays off for >5 minutes in between, and never had any issues with shifting out of or missing gears. No F1 or ediff lights on dash, and yes all doors and hatches are closed. Tried extracting old fluid from reservoir, filling with new, and then bleeding system. Pump operates during bleed procedure but no fluid comes out of the bleeder screw when opened. Ordered a new accumulator hoping that solves it….
Possibly the shifting solenoids have leaky seals such that the accumulator and pump pressure cannot keep up with fluid demand during quick successive shifts. The duration between the hydraulic pump runs during standstill to maintain pressure will give a good indication of how much leak is going on in the system. New solenoids could be the solution.
Dan, the man. When I was a Junior in college (‘89), I put in a booming car stereo system in my car the night before I had to drive from NY to ATL. I finished the install at 1:00am. I went to turn it on and nothing. I went to bed frustrated. Next day drive the 15hrs to ATL with absolutely no tunes. Next day took everything out reinstalled and still nothing. I noticed my interior light wasn’t working. Turns out it was the frickin’ 10amp radio fuse. Lesson: Start small.
I use the Launch on my 360 to change the PIS setting and do the bleed procedure. I have an updated TCU, though, so that might be the difference. I've heard that the updated TCU makes a huge difference in shifting, so you might want to do the upgrade anyway.
Couple questions / points: - Does the actuator have to come off to bleed it? - I had a 2000 360 Modena that DID talk to a Launch X431 Pro, for what it's worth (pretty sure that was before and after I put a CS TCU in it) - Ah! I remember now - the 360 communicated better when the Launch was in F430 mode, so try that.
Hello! Had this happen once, been stuck in 4th. Flashing F1 light…How did you process the braking test, did you manually downshift or let the car manage downshifting ? Thanks !
Dan - great video. I’ve got a very similar issue and it’s occasional (more so in 4th gear). It jumps to 6th or 3rd and sometimes N. I can also hear the f1 pump very frequently… you or anyone think it’s the same issue? Replaced clutch, potentiometers etc but hoping this could be my one hope 🙏🏽 value any comments
Couple of questions Dan: Did you have to put the car into Neutral before you removed the actuator from the gearbox? No fluid came out of the 3 bleeders? Did air come out?
Thanks so much for sharing your Knowledge on this ,and how to solve, I have f1 Quattroporte, this will help me I think it will work on 360, Ratorossa did clutch on his 360 and done clutch pis and calibration on launch x431, going to 430 section in launch menu not 360 menu when doing the procedure. He has a video on you tube.

This is awesome! Love how you actually work on Ferrari.

You bet
That's the right stuff that built this channel always appreciate the DIY thanks for the video Dan and Josh!
You're welcome
There used to be a kit you could buy for the 360 F1 pump which was aluminum cooling fins, hose clamps and ceramic paste.
Yeah that would be good
Good job great launch scanner transmission calibration nice
You bet
Hey Dan, I just love your channel, I’ve just learn that it’s not too difficult to work on Ferraris. I’m looking at a 2005 F430. Thanks for sharing.
Go for it!
Great video as always. Its unbelievable how you fix these supercars 😁👍
Thanks 👍

Lol yup
I used to hv the ediff light came on all the time. Then i bought this bypass ediff thing. And it works flawless!
Nice
Great vid, thanks for the help. I have a 360 dropping to N on downshifts
Ah F1 accumulator or pump, possibly the actuators

Did the new accumulator fix it?
@@chrisparker4940 never ended up replacing it. You’ll won’t believe what was wrong…. super simple fix: th-cam.com/video/qChYyx1BZmM/w-d-xo.html
Hey there can you please upload a video of how to can clean the f430 headlights is can clean from in side the light or needs to buy new one
You bet!
good job 👍 the Launch X-431 👍
Yes! It's super helpful

Thank you

The solenoids were fine in this case

LOL yup. And always start with the cheapest and easiest possible fix first.

Yeah.
could you explain why the reservoir over flowed the fluid when bleeding the actuator?
There's fluid stored in the accumulator that probably purged out
Man I really like the silver on the car . I think it would also cut down on the speeding tickets . Beautiful ride ✌️
It does blend in a bit better than red. :)

You have to unscrew the bleed screws, so yes it needs to come off.

It's certainly possible

Did you have to put the car into Neutral before you removed the actuator from the gearbox?
No fluid came out of the 3 bleeders? Did air come out?
You should put it in neutral.
@@normalguysupercar ok thx
For fun/educational purposes would it be possible to ballpark part/s costs when you replace the parts on the cars?
If you have to replace the actuators, it's about $8k. I'm guessing having it bled at a Ferrari dealership might be about $1-2K.

Dan I’m confident in you guys abilities 👍🏾😂😂 but you sounded so unsure😂😂😂😂
I was unsure it was the fix it needed
Launch will not talk to the old 360 tcu (pre-2002) I believe.
Yeah, I think it's the first gen 360 TCUs. Boo.
@@normalguysupercar could be a video idea. Tcu upgrade or reflash. Idk if the earlier ones can be reflashed

Yay!
Yup
And open the gear selection potentiometers…this will tell you if it’s leaking…
Yeah
I know I'm an idiot, but where's the fuel gauge?
I'm the dash
Rebuild the actuator… the seals eventually will fail…
Maybe eventually
Seems that PDK is better, buy a Porsche instead :)
Bah.
The only way to repair it is with a manual swap.
Hmm no
That Car need a Manual 🤗
Would be fun
