Good video👍 We only had 3 ‘sporty’ bikes to choose from when i was on my Ls 30yrs ago… I’ve noticed the newer learner bikes look like full sized bikes until i see the skinny tyres..
The tires on the R7 are the exact same size tires they put on the R6. Just because it has a 2 cylinder engine doesn't make it a beginner bike. You guys with 20 years riding experience are forgetting what it's like to have never thrown your leg over a motorcycle and not have a basic concept of clutch and throttle control. This bike will wheelie in first gear no problem with no clutch up.
@@Ghost_R6_ Been riding for just over 2 years. Learnt to ride on a Monster 659. Not experienced by any means. For those with less confidence, a scooter or 120-300cc bike is ideal. For those with a bit more confidence, a bike like the R7 would be fine to learn on.
im not a fan of the cyclops headlight and dont see a point of a crippled lams version of the bike. a learner would be better off on a r3 and then jumping up to the HO version of this or the soon to be released r9.
This motorcycle is definitely not for a beginner Rider. Maybe if you've been riding dirt bikes or your very familiar with how the controls on a motorcycle work. The seating position on this bike is very aggressive..... If you're a brand new Rider meaning you've never sat on a motorcycle before in your entire life then this bike is going to feel very strange to you. In my opinion you're much better off learning the fundamentals on something like an mto3 or an r3 the seating positions on those are much more forgiving allowing you to focus on learning the controls of the motorcycle...... I've owned an R7 now for about a month and put about 600 mi on it and Personally I think they r7 has too much power for a beginner Rider. This is my second bike coming off of a cbr500r and I can say without a doubt that whenever I was first learning how to operate the controls if I would have had something more powerful I definitely would have looped the bike. There was one instance where I whiskey throttled so bad that I almost got thrown off the back of the bike luckily I was on a 500cc motorcycle and not something like this which most likely would have looped on me. And another thing I dropped the 500 three different times when I first started riding it. Nothing major just a few scuffs but I couldn't imagine dropping my R7 after seeing how sexy she is in person

My point is people are putting this motorcycle in the beginner bike category and it certainly is not a beginner motorcycle for every person out there. It certainly not a beginner motorcycle for the majority of people out there. Just because it's not an inline 4 with 200 horsepower doesn't mean you can't go meet Jesus on it real quick. Quit telling people this bike is for beginners..... Setting New riders up for a real f***** up day when they should be learning their fundamentals on something a little less rowdy like a Honda Grom. I just went to a new riders funeral just a couple of months ago and I'm not interested in attending anymore
It’s not a restricted motor. It started in 2000 as a 500cc motor, then upped to a 530cc motor in 2012, and now 560cc from about 2020 onwards. The motor has always been designed for the weight/specs of the bike itself. It’s been designed as a very nice handling scoot. The motor has never been derestricted for learner riders. It’s a big heavy scoot/bike for a learner.
I own one, can say it's definitely a great beginner first bike. Very forgiving and easy to ride. It does have restrictions in the case of restricted throttle, ecu detune, restrictive exhaust and smaller engine over the HO. All that said it's still pretty zippy, it's not a fast bike but it's really easy to ride. I ride mine every day. I've had mine retuned, yoshi exhaust, HO throttle stop and DNA intake, makes about the same power as the HO now but would highly recommend this bike as a first bike.

I wouldn't even classify it as a "sport". It's a SCOOTER. It's garbage, and everybody at Yamaha as well as everybody like you that props this bike up is garbage too.
I cant take any channel serious that taughts an r7 as a beginner bike, especially when there are such good 400 size bikes out that would make much better options. (R3 or Ninja400 etc).
You must realise that in Australia this is a restricted bike. Not a full fat R7. That means power is down compared to a regular R7 despite it packing a larger displacement.

If somebody can't handle this bike at its weakest or at its "full power", then they really just can't handle two wheels. Instead of the guy complaining that "the channel makes light of the bikes power", he should just stop searching for motorcycle videos. As an owner of the ninja 400, these smaller bikes are nothing to write home about, and my second "purchased" bike will be over 110 horsepower guaranteed. I refuse to go with anything less after SETTLING for 30 years for trash.

I have years on dirt bikes and motorcycles already but I was afraid because it was my first "purchased" bike, so I listened to people like YOU. Now I'm stuck with this ninja 400 until it's paid off and what will likely be left on the market when I actually can afford a supersport is mediocre trash like the r7. 10,000 dollars and it has two cylinders and less than 80 hp. I blame you and everybody that thinks like you. The "I want a motorcycle but I want it to be as powerful as a snail so I'm always safe". Your type of people... you're scum.
I bought the R7 a month ago as my first ever bike. I love it. I take it through mountain twisties, and it's fast enough for me on the freeway.

I think so too. Although it was fun learning on 600ccs, it's not entirely necessary

It's a restricted motor, so if you're a confident learner, it's relatively easy to get the hang of.

I thought the R7 couldn't have a slip on exhaust as the whole exhaust system is together as one?
