I had an FZ-07 as my first bike and I tracked it a few times. Its a really fun bike the 700 is a good motor and the FZ07 would cut threw the corners with ease. this would be a great bike for the track if you don't care about how fast you can go on the straight. But its no 600 the power difference is 70 to the 100-130 on any 600. But a good rider at the track will be killing it at the track heck guys on 300's can be running times just as fast as most.

If people were honest with themselves they would admit that this bike is all they need. This bike looks like so much fun. That’s all I’m hearing from these reviews
people buys R6s first for the looks. Same concept here. The bike looks fantastic. Bonus is, it will be way more fun to use on commutes than an R6. Power is more readily available, at lower speeds. Looking forward to all the shops that gonna be boasting 85-100hp mods for this bike.
@Scott Summers 8 lbs lighter than mt07, different rake, different front forks, stiffer frame, adjustable suspension, new better clutch for track riding, etc. But all you are paying for is clippons and fairings?? Not sure if you are ignorant, did not even look at the video, or just being dumb.
@@pinkt1t5 Still overpriced. Look at what you can get on a ZX6R for $1200 USD more than the R7. Aluminum twinspar chassis, swingarm, suspension, brakes, motor, TC, quickshifter stock, etc.
@Scott Summers I don't think so. here in my country bikes with high potential to crash are more expensive to insure & r6 is prime example for big blue ball muscle heads who wanna impress their grandmother while reving up first gear in a 30 zone inner city. also HP/ general motor size playes a huge role too.
@@Bi6M4C and now that this is an an affordable "race bike", to the entry market masses, what do you think is going to happen? Insurance on this is probably going to go up a bit. Maybe not at first, but after many young squidlets drop this cheaper rocket. Insurance will catch up.
@@kleinbottled79 it's the pedigree behind the name. It can be an XJ-07R, or MT07-R.... but it isn't "R7" racing bloodline/lineage. At BEST, it is an official Yamaha racing MT07. With a horrible name change. I guess even bikes are getting into " I associate as a..." movement now.
I want a bike that I can use on track but mostly street, I think this bike might be my next one, just don't know about the colors, if they only had a red/white like the original R7...
I'm gonna be that guy... Shouldn't be called the "R7". That would be like Honda coming out with a 75HP RC45, or Kawi having a 75HP 7RR. Just call it something else.
Not fully convinced on the price. They did an awful lot of cost savings to end up $400 cheaper than the new MT-09 that has both more power and more tech. Only $1000 cheaper than ZX-6R, (a REAL supersport). It's like $1400 more than the MT-07. $1400 for some plastic and slightly better brakes and suspenders? $8499 would have been more reasonable. That, or at least retune the motor for more power you lazy SOB's.
people who want a zx6r will not be looking at a r7. Just like people who want an r6 will not be looking at an r7. R7 is for a different type of rider. Quite frankly the bike will sell a boatload on looks alone. Then people will realize how much more useable it is on the streets, and sell even more. If track riding is your thing, then get zx6r or r6, or cbrr. This is definitely not that.
@@pinkt1t5 Fair enough; but none of the bikes I listed were intended to specifically represent what people will cross shop. The point is simply relative value. ZX-6R is a LOT more bike for 10% more money. Also, I'm not seeing $1400 more value than an MT-07 offers. But I agree they will probably sell well. I really like the looks and the concept. Maybe they feel like they can ask the 'extra' $500 simply because they know they have a sales winner. /shurg Either way they will be ~6k in 3 years on craigslist. If people were honest with themselves they would admit that this bike is all they need. This bike looks like so much fun. That’s all I’m hearing from these reviews
This was surprisingly comprehensive - (I don’t know what I was expecting) TH-cam 🤷🏽♂️
Good job bro. A lot info you explained here. Keep it up👍👍
I dont like the riding position for a 70hp street bike. Id stick with the CB650R with 95hp a more comfortable riding position and more features
"How many people with R6 actually go to the track?" Okay but then why are those R7 bars so low.
very good point. Really should have gone the ninja 650 route and raised the bars, lowered the seat, and not named it the r7
people buys R6s first for the looks.
@kronikinsomniak its a pure race bike, the R7 isnt. thats why it sold out
Going from r6 to r7 the insurance will be more, and this has less power than the old r6. Not what the thought on this was.
Great review. 👍
why should the insurance be more. complete nonsense
Welcome to the new R world, a world of silence.
I like the black one - looks pretty decent.
This makes me wish Suzuki would make a better vtiwn for the Supersport category
The Aprilia 660 is a twin so this is a direct competitor but the R6 was always a winning package great at the track or on the street 🤷🏻♀️
Wonder how it compares to the Aprilia RS660, with it's up/down quckshifter, 100hp engine, and sweet electronics package?
Excellent review and editing.
they should had named it RT-07, "Road/Track 07" would had shut up a lot of haters regarding about the R6 succession issue
Or even just R-07. But of course then the R3's name doesn't fit either and should be R-03 etc. Doesn't really bug me in the end. What's in a name?
@@kleinbottled79 it's the pedigree behind the name. It can be an XJ-07R, or MT07-R.... but it isn't "R7" racing bloodline/lineage. At BEST, it is an official Yamaha racing MT07. With a horrible name change. I guess even bikes are getting into " I associate as a..." movement now.
Great review 👍
best review on the r7 yet.
A lot of people don’t understand why they made this bike... 4 words. Moto America twins cup
They do have 1 more color with the 60th anniversary version. All white with yellow and red.
Great motorcycle channel. Keep it up, subs and views will grow.
Great review. Looks like a fun bike. For street, I'd prefer this to an R6.
Have you tested the YAMAHA FJR 1300AE? I saw two Police drive past me on them and man they're one smooth powerful bike.
Ridiculously informative. Thank you.
I want a bike that I can use on track but mostly street, I think this bike might be my next one, just don't know about the colors, if they only had a red/white like the original R7...
And 3 months later they announced the 60th anniversary edition....
That cable blocking the screen is still a turn off aside from the headlight.
ok but imagine a yellow kenny roberts color :p
Can’t wait to get mine forsure getting the race black shit looks amazing BATMAN shit
Character vs Power
Lets see it against a Suzuki GSXR600 And 750 or an old R6 then tell me
How does this channel not have over 500k subs?!?
Because the first Vid was only posted 8 months ago.
That might be why......
Looks nice. Roll on the R9. In the meantime I will stick with my Ducati supersport
Id like to hear one without the stock exhaust.
New track rider looking for a dedicated track bike. Suggestions on first bike, R3, Ninja 400 or R7?
buy what you can afford.
Looks amazing .. and more street usable power.
Yeah and I can't wait for the new R1. 25 horsepower Briggs and Stratton with pull start and drum brakes.
Agreed. Yamaha taking major steps back with this one.
I'm gonna be that guy... Shouldn't be called the "R7". That would be like Honda coming out with a 75HP RC45, or Kawi having a 75HP 7RR. Just call it something else.
Could this be a good 2nd bike after riding your 300cc starter bike?
Excellent choice!
@@Parker-di7ef thanks 🙏
0:44 you know there are single cylinder YZF bikes that live up to the name....the twin R3 isn't that good in comparison though 😂
Not a sport bike that I would ever buy.A good bike for a novice but riders looking for performance are going to abandon Yamaha in droves.
Really like this bike, a worthy upgrade from my cb500f
The only price that matter to me in the end, heh.
I always have to wonder if fear of not being invited to future pre release mfg events like this influences what these review outlets say.
I had to LOL @12:30 when he says "Crack the throttle open", watch him twist it, and the bike doesnt really do anything.
That said all I need to know, bike is too down on power for me.
'Busa or bust.
It feels like bigger outlets often are less harsh and smaller ones speak their minds more. I'm really just waiting on 44Teeth to review it, they're usually pretty honest and will tear something apart if it's not good rather than sugar coat anything.
@@NiSE_Rafter You are very correct about 44Teeth, love that outlet!!!
lol got the same vibe. guy sounds like hes looking for sponsership
with that power output... kawasaki can make the ninja 650 a bit ligher and compete with it... same as an almost 10yo ninja
How does it compare to the 21 cbr650r thats its direct price competitor at a few hundred more and getting a true inline 4
Yamaha should make this bike 400cc
