How I got a Rolex Sky Dweller in One Month at Retail with no History!

- Hi all thanks for checking out my very first video, on todays episode I will be doing a short review on the Rolex sky dweller and sharing how I got this watch from an authorized dealer in about one month at retail with zero purchase history.

Good point about the crown breaking up the side if worn on right hand.
Kind of the same with a helium escape valve for a watch on the left hand.
yeah I used to own a tudor black bay gmt and the thickness never bothered me because it was on my right wrist
I have the two tone, yellow gold with the white dial. I noticed one nice feature of this disl, if you move your wrist in the proper direction, the dial sppears to be a very light silver color! This must be a quirk, but a very nice surprize! The 24 hr ring though maintains its white color while the dial face apprars to be light silver! 😊
yeah i initially thought it was white but yes it is more silver or opaline and it looks amazing!
@@HawaiianHorology : Also remember this watch does the work of multiple watches, ex, the gmt, datejust, oyster perpetual, ect! It's multiple rolexs wrapped up into one watch.
As a guy with a bigger wrist (8.5in) it's good to finally see a review with a comparable reference!

I had a bigger omega and now I’m searching for a sky dweller. Lover my DJ 41 but it still feels small.
I was offered a Sea-Dweller the same day while on vacation in another state. Making a connection is definitely how it's done. I didn't even realize that was what I was doing at the time but I was happy it happened. Definitely the highlight of my 1st Rolex purchase.

Again, congrats, you choose one of the four holy Grail watches, the rest are crap! If you don't know the four, they are: daytona, sea-dweller, sky-dweller, and the yacht-master 2. These watches cover all the basic functions for their realm of functional categories.

I got my op41 from that same boutique. They were really nice and I got it in just 3 weeks with no history.

Never considered the white dial but looks good

If you notice you got the one with the white dial which is the least desirable of the sky dweller line. If you wanted a blue dial or a green dial you would still be waiting. It’s a beautiful watch but I only want it with a blue to green dial. My AD had it with a white dial but I turned it down. You can also easily get one with a black dial. So if you really want this watch quickly and don’t care what dial you get then ask for white or black dial.
Yeah i think that might be true now but when I got it all models were very hard to get I got this one in 2021 at the peak of the rolex market

Yes it was. I was looking for a white dial to add to the collection and the sky dweller was perfect!
Excellent video, thanks for sharing. This exact spec is #2 on my wishlist. Thanks for talking about the dial color. Although it's listed as a white dial, my AD was telling me this white is a little different than the white on my Explorer II so I'm really excited to see it in person. Congrats on the new piece, enjoy!

The white on the sky-dweller is amazing. It's only the inner 24 hour GMT section that is a true white. The rest of the dial is a silvery white. Has to be seen in real life to be appreciated.
The white or silver dial is stunning in the real life … I even prefer it to the blue or green. It’s super clean and I love how the date blends with the dial … the silver effect is stunning
Looks really cool, I never really fully understood how it worked.
Its just too Datejust for me I feel (was my first decades ago) and I am trying hard not to ever buy a Cyclops again.
The cyclops interaction with the centre wheel thing would drive me mad.
When I first started collecting watches I hated the cyclops but now I've grown to love it lol
@@HawaiianHorology I used two think it was one piece of sapphire, but found out its actually glued on.
One AD told me they used to 'chip' them off for customers!!

Not one of my favourite Rolex, but great watch. I didn't know the month complication...
I'm still in honeymoon with my Explorer 124270 bought last month.

Yeah I think a woman can but it might be a little big at 42mm but if you like it then go for it!
Its funny how Rolex operates exactly the opposite of how we teach our children to treat people. What if other stores only sold things to people that they liked and had jobs they deemed worthy. I know its a private company and they can do what they want but where do we draw the line? Food? Its a crappy way to do business.
I do really how their supply goes up so everyone can get the watches they want!
@@HawaiianHorology I have no problem getting the watches I want on the gray market. I dont mind paying a markup, but what I wont do is a pretty dance for the Rolex AD.

This story just tells me you have to form some connection. That's only because these watches are perceived to be rare. In the future, as supply outpaces demand, the folks will be humbled and forced to beg again to get the sale; as it should be smh lol
I really hope it does I would love to purchase any watch that I want instead of playing the "game" with the AD

OK its gotten silly in recent years, but building relationships is cool, as is waiting for a piece and getting 'The Call'.
Decades ago I waited a year for a Seadweller. It was just supply and demand.
Rolex have gone from being 'available', to wait list, back to available, back to waitlist, at least that many times in the 35 years since I bought my first.
I decided on my first rolex in 2017 and at the time there were lots of watches available I had my heart set on the explorer and since I didn't like the cyclops I have no interest in the submariner but I can't remember if they were in the stores at that time?

Both of the ADs here are amazing but I got this one from the Rolex in international market place!

I only had time to go to the Ala Moana Mall when I was in Oahu.
The Rolex area of the store looked closed and quite depressing.
Wish I could have visited International Marketplace too. It had been recommended.
Ala Moana just re-opened their new Rolex store and it looks cool check it out if you can
