- Its been a year in the collection for the Rolex Skydweller and the Bruce Bay Chrono. I share my thoughts from an owner and watch fan's perspective.

I initially thought the Skydweller looked too busy with a jubilee bracelet, but seeing the Skydweller with both oyster and jubilee in person, Jubilee is very appropriate and really nice.
I love the Jubilee bracelet on the Datejust BUT not on the Sky dweller. The Sky dweller has too much going on on the dial, so the oyster bracelet cools it down and gives the entire watch a more sophisticated look! 😊
Just got this Tudor as a gift I was hesitant at first by the size. But lord it feels great on the wrist and it is just absolutely gorgeous!

It's the same for me. Wearing a hype watch makes me paranoid of damaging it or attracting unwanted risks. I've settled with the Explorer 2 as my daily and loving it.
I have debated doing the same. Did you go with the white or black dial?
@@Elementalism I went with the black because I feel it's more versatile and it's timeless.
@@dstjoe Nice! I am torn. I love the two tone bluesy. But the Explorer II has a classic look about it.
@@Elementalism after going through many of the other models, I've arrived at the under the radar Explorer 2. In this climate and my comfort level, I want to wear my watch and enjoy it. The two tones or precious metal seems to attract unwanted attention and I don't want to feel worried about it.
@@dstjoe I hear you on that. The simplicity of the Explorer II is very appealing. It is beautiful without the glitz. I feel like I could wear it nearly anywhere unlike a bluesy. I wouldn't think of bringing a bluesy out of country for fear of being a target on the street or it disappears from the hotel safe. And not sure I would want to wear in downtown areas in the US neither.
My 2 wish list rolexes are the Milgauss Z-Blue and the Sky-Dweller. I always liked the oyster bracelet but I have a jubilee style on a raymond weil freelancer diver and love the fit and look. When I saw thew sky-dweller in person I much prefer the jubilee. I love the sparkle of the fluted bezel with the center polished links of the jubilee. Seeing the blue sky-dweller in person it's a bit darker than I expected so I almost prefer the black or the white dial.
Amazing watches Bruce. That Datora is beautiful and just amazing. So is the Skydweller. Such a cool and innovative movement. Congrats and thanks for sharing

Negative for me on the Tudor Panda was legibility. Silver hands just disappear against the white.
I have a Breitling superocean 42 blue/rose but that Datora 42 caught my eye. I love the salmon/copper dial and the compilations it has. Beautiful piece...I'm surprised it doesn't have more hype.

Nice review! I have the Tudor panda as well, I originally bought it on the black strap and have the original bracelet as a spare from another Tudor in my collection (Harrords'). That bracelet is quite heavy, the watch is not light by any means and adding such heavy bracelet I found the combo to be quite heavy to wear. That is my only negative with it, other than that I love the watch. It does look and wears amazing (sportier!) on the black strap with white stitchings
The bright black on the SD is amazing. Love it better than the Blue
I thought I would have liked the bright white dial on the SD but unfortunately, NO! 😮The black speaks volumes....you know what they say: "Once you go black........"😅
I agree, the SkyDweller looks better in black in my opinion.
I own the Tudor BB Chrono as well but in reverse panda and it's my favorite lately.

That black dial is different af!!! The sun ray brushing finish makes it different from the professional dials in black. Rolexs black dials are pretty lit ngl it’s like deep pool of black the sun ray gives it a different look I enjoy it! Almost gray!

My favorite SkyDweller is the champagne dial actually.
I believe the GMT and annual calendar are the best complications. The fact Rolex built them together in the Skydweller is impressive, but I just can’t like the way Rolex did it.
The calendar is annual, but one can’t read the month easily, and maybe mistake the GMT by date.
It’s a GMT, but one can’t read the GMT hour easily.
It’s a watch, but its dial has so much going on that makes it hard to read time.
In conclusion, the Skydweller has what’s best put together in the worst way. Almost like the Brazilian national football team.
I have the gold and steel Tudor chronograph on a leather bund. Love it.
Anyone of the watches shown are awesome 👌 Just one issue, Could not buy any watch shown on this channel for me in 10 lifetime's. I just enjoy watching. 🙂
i tried on the tudor panda last night at my AD, it seems like the watch might look better with a black colored handset.
Definitely the blk/jubilee on the SD. Tudor is slowly (or quickly : ) )becoming my favorite brand. Really dig their design language and get excellent accuracy from my Ranger and LHD. Rolex is timeless and hard to knock of course. Love em or love to hate em.

Bruce... I agree that it is a bit unbecoming of you to own these two hype models. Not that I want to do this, but just because I consider you a friend, next time you are down in Utah County, swing by and I'll take them both off your hands at retail ;) Also.... I'll be watching that subscriber count closely, you've earned all your success by being authentic, humble, and relatable to a broad range of enthusiasts and collectors. I recommend your channel to everyone I meet who shows an interest in my pieces and horology !
Love the sky dweller but I had the opportunity to buy the panda Tudor as well as multiple opportunities for the black one and just not attracted to that model. Maybe if it were a bit smaller.
Def agree with you in regards to hype watches and wanting to zig when everyone is zagging
I don't think people who are rolex fans or luxury watches fan will ever opt for skydweller,and moreover people who loves watches hardly likes black dials,but I think skydweller is worth looking time to if it can watch my time
If you could only keep two others with these two for a killer four watch collection which ones are they? Datora seems like a no brainer but Cartier or Hulk for your diver?
Blue with the Jubilee band is the way to go and I'm not just saying that because I own one. Okay, maybe I am.

I initially was set for the Panda here in the uk, although in person the black just seems classier which i had no probs getting. Probs because already own a white seamaster pro. Its a chunky piece but great in its own right.. good luck with getting one soon.
I love both watches , the Tudor is good value for money . Think the watch that seems to be ignored is the Tudor S&G Chrono . To me that watch is Homage to the John Player Special brand a great Vintage watch . The Rolex John player Daytona sold for 1.5 million . The Tudor version gets ignored for some unknown reason .
Never liked the sky dweller but one day something clicked and I love them so much now, black or blue dial, so sexy. shame I'll never own one🤣🤣 ps the jubilee bracelet goes so well with the fluted bezel.... Don't ever sell this beauty.

Great review and video, Bruce! Question: what circumference is your wrist? I have about a 7-inch wrist (just shy of) and wonder if the BB Chrono would fit me well.
Ok. I just saw your note. I have an 8” wrist and this watch (reverse panda) looks great but it’s a beast of watch in terms of weight. It weighs at least 60% more than my Datejust. As much as I love owning this watch, I think if i had your wrist size I would recommend passing. It’s a full size watch that appears larger than the 41mm is measures.

Totally get where your coming from i rarely get caught up in the hype, however fancied a new purchase and the reverse panda became available. Couple of months in, now the honeymoon period is over I’m also debating to trade in for something else. Its truly a great watch, but it could be improved massively with minor adjustments. Also to me its a chunk of change just sat there. I have other tudor’s like the original GMT, which I didn’t get until last year. That was about a watch connection not hype of year, so guess we all get caught up somewhere. 👍

Jubilee
Skip forward a year or two. Post Covid flip frenzy. Suddenly the hyped Tudor panda is tanking on Chrono as the watch market cools down to normality. The knock on effect being it’s now appearing unloved in multiple AD windows. It’s still a nice watch but it’s golden bubble has burst. Maybe we’re crazy and only list after stuff that’s out of reach. Once we can readily get it it’s… meh, maybe another day. Bit of a sad state of affairs that the only reason it was hyped was that there was a market driving it to be flipped for profit. Take that machine away and the rug is pulled. Tudor also moving to METAS and T-Fit means anything not in this bracket will tank as savvy owners want the latest tech. So bye bye short lived Daytona for the masses, let’s see what they bring out next. PS their aggressive price increases may backfire as they price themselves out of their own market.
