Too bad he didn’t make it to Canada…what an awful legacy for us. If it makes anyone feel better, the Pueblo reservation near Taos, NM is on a gorgeous piece of land with Mountain views!
Chief Joseph was an admirable leader and his history is very moving and unjust!

I haven't been on Chief Joseph Highway but now I want to drive it myself. I enjoy all your videos and appreciate you taking us for a guided tour of places of interest. Grandpa was the Chief of Police there for 20 years.
I’ll never forget the amazing trips with them into Yellowstone, Sunlight Basin, the Bighorns, and Wind River. My love for the mountains was born here

“Stop the Car” in Silvergate ❤❤❤! I was hoping you’d stop and get coffee or ice cream. It’s one of my favorite places and best ever Huckleberry ice cream They also have some gifts in there unless it’s changed since I was there in 2021.

When I get back to my home base, I tell everyone I'm back to resupply and do laun dry, but not necessarily in that order. Imagine those who came before us walking and riding across this beautiful country. No power lines, straight highways, no clear cutting for roads, just a magnificent land all around. Rivers, mountains, deserts, prairies, and of course gorges, canyons. Knowing that it would take months to travel as far as we now can in just a few days......majestic. I n my 80th year traveling where I could not before, I'm constantly reminded of the early years. Still, I continue to travel with truck and trailer as you do until I cannot. Might see you at camp one day. As Rick Steve's would say, "keep on traveling".
Glad you enjoyed Chief Joseph! Part of their trail goes by where I live, there's a marker. The Cooke City area feels like time stands still. The residents that winter there are snowbound, although my neighbor said his band (when he was a young adult) was hired to play there on New Year's Eve. They got in by snowmobile, it was a rough ride! Hope you enjoy the rest or your time in Montana.

Drove chief joseph from Cody to Cooke city last fall, just spectacular. Hadn’t been there or through Yellowstone since 1983. Was beautiful and bittersweet.
This was a beautiful but partially sad video. Thank you for reminding us of what happened to the Native Americans which is a sad part of our history. Your narration is sensitive but still allows us to see the natural beauty of the west. Keep up your incredible journey.

I love the Beartooth Highway. The first time I saw it was when I was with my parents and sister on a long trip years ago. We stayed in Red Lodge, Montana, in a little cabin for the night. We could hear the water from a brook behind the cabin. My husband and I drove the Beartooth Highway recently. It is still very beautiful and one of my favorite drives.

Hi Catherine, two of your many fans here…from England, across the pond. Been following you for two or three years now. Love your adventures……we are proud to say we have been to Wyoming 9 times, staying in Cody, Pahaska tepee and Cooke City. All the places you stayed, we have been to many times. We have been there a total of 33 weeks over the nine trips. We estimate seeing between 60 and 80 bears over that time and photographed most of them…..by the way….we had one black bear strolling along the streets of Cooke city which we followed for around an hour.
You mentioned washing your truck….can you believe, on one occasion, we drove off up the Chief Joseph highway, while staying in a hotel in Cooke city….and we discovered the Sunlight basin highway which we drove for miles along…even came across a mom moose with her young calf. By the time we returned to our hotel that evening, our hire car was totally covered in dirt and dust. To our amazement, the owner of our hotel, took a bucket of water out into the street, and washed our car for us……..they don’t do that here in England😂
We have stayed in Cody so many times and know every isle in that Walmart…also the liquor store next door to Walmart sold some great American whiskey which I would bring back to the UK.

I’ve shared your video with one of the staff from our hotel in Cooke and no doubt she will pass it on also. Yes, Cooke City is a nice little stop. Been there many times, always on a motorcycle. Bear Tooth and Red Lodge are always on my list. I kept watching in your windshield for my Goldwing, but never saw it. Then I saw the Griz report board. I was there 2 weeks before you. Your videography is superb. Keep up the good work Catherine. I always enjoy your laid back approach to everything.

Absolutely beautiful area and those small towns were charming.
I do agree with many of the others, it is truly heartbreaking the way the indigenous peoples of this country were treated and continue to be treated as such to this day yet by the government, so sad and for the most part, kept as quiet as possible.
