Yes, they can't tell you they are missing it, if you don't put it in they can't eat it. 👍
Only downside is too much deliciuous fresh food, and they turn thier noses up at the pellets lol! 😂

I have a 1kw electro heater on for 7 hours a day on a timer, on economy 7.
I heat to 24C in summer, and 18C may and june, and 18C october.
Then let the pond down to ambient temperature, with no heat from November to the end of april.
My pond and filters are very well insulated, so didn't drop below 12C all last winter...though it was quite a mild winter.

I'm just trying to squeeze the most out of our 'pond season'.
It feels like we get:
2 months of spring,
2 months of summer,
2 months of autumn, and
6 months of winter lol! 😄
