This job is what you make of it, alot of people go in expecting to be riding patrol and thats not the case. Most Airman won't see patrol until they are a Senior Airman, but it also depends on the base and leadership. Also ask for opportunities dont just sit around and wait until they give it to you because they want to see you are motivated. For me its been a pretty good job so far but everyone's experience is different so don't let other's experiences with it deter you cuz yours will be completely different

@@kevindelgado717 glad you asked. The downs would be. Everyone on base hates you because you make them follow the rules. Long and boring days of routine. Most times you run into way to many chiefs and no enough Indians.
The positives were when something did happen we were tip of spear and got to see and do it first. When stationed overseas your training really came into focus. The friendships we made and comrade is unmatched. Those were just a few.
Note: take every off duty class you can afford to become better at shooting, hand to hand, etc.

I am a Former Security Policeman 6 years Active/9 years Air National Guard and I can tell you I wouldn't trade my time in the USAF Security Police for anything ...I loved it! It is what you make it. I was stationed at Dyess AFB for 3 years in the Strategic Air Command..we had a squadron of B52D's..4 Nuclear uploaded on alert at all times. We also had 3 squadron's of C-130's. I did Fly Away Security. We trained 4 times a year in Air Base Ground Defense at Ft. Hood Army Base against the US Army 7th Calvary Scouts. I was on one of the first EST's..Emergency Service Team's (SWAT) in the Air Force. I got to attend the FBI SWAT School and we got to put on EST training demonstrations along with the Combat Control Team across the street from Security Control. (We loaded our APC's on 2 C 130's with a Combat Control Team climbed to 20,000 ft., the CCT did a halo jump. After deploying the CCT the 130's spiraled down and did an Assault landing on a dirt strip. We deployed in our Armored vehicles out the back of the C130's and took the objective, reloaded with the nuclear weapon we recovered from the "Terrorists" and did a Assault takeoff)!!
I was stationed for 1 year in Turkey at a secret MUNSS site. I was the NCOIC of Arms and Equipment for the Security detachment and also the Team Leader for the RRT ( Recapture and Recovery Team) a joint Turkish - American Anti-terrorist Team. When I rotated back to the World, I was assigned for 2 years at Langley AFB, VA to Headquarters Tactical Air Command. The unit I was in is the Tactical Air Command Guard...we were the Security for the CINCTAC (Commander and Chief Tactical Air Command..4 Star General). During my time in the Alabama Air National Guard I got to go to "Sliver Flag Alpha" in Indian Springs, NV, the USAF SP Desert Warfare and Survival School. It is what you make it, I did a lot of different things in the Security Police Field....AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE... except for the time I spent in a Turkish Military Prison..but that is another story!
I got out of the Air Force and became a State Trooper. Most of my 25 years was spent on TACT Team 1 and TACT Team 2 (Tactical Anti-terrorist Counter-assault Team) SWAT. I was a State SWAT Member, Instructor, Sniper, Sniper Instructor, Tactical Rappel Master/Instructor, Man Tracker/Instructor. Now I am retired and work part time for a Large Entertainment Venue doing undercover security. I also work for our State's Police Officers Standards and Training as a SWAT and Sniper Instructor.

K9, CATM, DAGRE, RAVEN, Investigations. Largest career field in the AF with the most opportunity.

The duration of each test varies from as low as ten minutes up to 36 minutes for Arithmetic Reasoning; the entire ASVAB is three hours long. The test is typically administered in a computerized format at Military Entrance Processing Stations, known as MEPS, or at a satellite location called a Military Entrance Test (MET) site. The ASVAB is administered by computer at the MEPS, while a written version is given at most MET sites. Testing procedures vary depending on the mode of administration.[3] Computerized test format[edit]

They miss a few things, but, if your heart is in it and your true desire is law enforcement, go for it. My last piece of advice, the Air Force is by far the best branch of service, choose your career specialty with great thought. It can very difficult to switch specialities once you are in.

The green card must be a 10 year green card and with an expiration date greater than 2 years from the date of issue. Applicants must be between 17 and 39, must speak, read and write English fluently to apply to join the Air Force. The Air Force does not bring applicants to the United States to join. You must get to the United States legally on your own and complete all immigration processing to obtain your Green Card on your own. The Air Force does not help.

      Why didn’t you cross train?

Noah Higgins pretty sure if you sign 6 years, you can’t cross train until 5 years in. And even then it’s extremely hard to cross train, especially if your job is still in high demand.

Not really... If you can join the military and go to war at 18 there is no reason why an 18 year old cant be law enforcement

      Negative, it's security guard.

Guarding parked aircraft and checking ID cards at gates is not LE. It's more being a school crossing guard.@@nathanielaaron4367
