@jasonbeecher509 Thanks! If you are interested in making leather knife sheaths, take a look at the series I did earlier this year on making a fixed blade knife. 4 or 5 of the videos are on the sheath.
Thank you so much! I’ve learned quite a bit on this series and looking forward to practicing it and improving making slips and leather products. Another great series and yes I’ve been waiting on this one and appreciate your time in showing the way you do it😊👍
I definitely need the beveling tool it’s been on my Amazon list and the leather sheen I have the burnishing tool and same burnishing compound you have.Purchased them after watching you make a knife sheath but never used it. I will now😊👍
@TheSogGrunt Definitely get the beveling tool. It makes a big difference on the quality of the edges. Then the only other thing you need is some of my leather conditioner. I can send you some. Email me at LastChanceKnives@proton.me
@jerseyknifeguy6382 I am glad you like it! The leather is very different then the first couple that I made. I had tooling leather because that is what is best for holsters and leather sheaths. Slips on the other hand are nicer when they are soft and supple.
good job. another done and soon another begins..I have a crazy random question..maybe something for a video or maybe not..BUT im wonder, leather comes from animals. And we see some leather that looks maybe 1/4" thick. What animal has that thick of skin? OR is it somehow processed and pressed together and made that thick? Thanks for any help on the topic..
@thebodybeatdownDiTi The leather I use is from a cow. They have much thicker and tougher skin then we do. People are pretty low on the toughness scale when compared to many of the animals. Suede is the underside of the skin. What we think of as leather is the outer surface. Leather can be split and made thinner for different uses. For fixed blade knife sheaths I use the heavy stuff from 8 to 12 ounce. For pocket knife slips I use 6 ounce leather. I need to do a little research on this topic. It's one of those things where I know just enough to be dangerous!
What an amazing job Ken. Thank you very much for walking us through this adventure. I've often thought about making slips and sheaths

@@davidkurle5418 I am glad that you liked the series. One more video remains. It will be on the tools that were used.

There's just a quality one can bring out in leather that no other material can match. Very nice work and outcome on that slip.
@martinparmer That's why I love leather. There is just something about it that no synthetic copy.
I have the one you sent me it’s all nice and broke in now!!!! It looks great thanks Ken have a great weekend 😊

Love the slips I got and greatly appreciate it and the leather is so soft on the inside
Thanks! I really like the leather that I found for these slips, it's just about perfect!
Nice work
Thanks! Still have to make a video on the tools that were used.
