- Leather crafting doesn’t have to be intimidating! Here I’ll show you how easy it can be. It’s like magic. Making the “Teddy” Wallet. In this video I show you every step in the process, from a rolled leather hide to a beautiful finished wallet. Step by step!
Teddy Wallet:
1. The model clutches a teddy bear
2. “Teddy bear” was named after president Theodore Roosevelt
3. For more on the “Teddy bear” story - www.nps.gov/th....
A pure coincidence in this video? Maybe…
The opening speech was made by president Franklin D. Roosevelt (32nd president). This wallet (the Teddy) is named after president Theodore Roosevelt (26th president). They were 5th cousins: Franklin’s wife, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, was Theodore's niece.

As usual, showing the world why and how you're one of the top American leather crafters. 100% style, character, and technique.
Awe !!! What a great comment! Thanks for that!
I love the bump jig method, some people just don't know how to use it right 🙃🙃
Thanks!! And right?! Once you “see it”, it clicks.
Did you notice…? I didn’t measure ONCE in that whole build. Literally.
Once your patterns are done, you NEVER have to measure again. Easy!
Thanks for the support and comments! And thanks for watching
Nice. The bump jig method FTW!
Yes!!! Thanks! The bump jigs are life changing.
Thanks for watching and commenting !
Those bump jigs are cool. I’m a bag maker and I spend serious time on templates. I don’t like to measure things that do not need to be measured. Very cool tricks.
Thanks for this magic Mr perfect …! 👍

Awe !!! Thanks!!
A lesson everytime. Fantastic.
Thanks!!! And thanks for watching!!
I Can not thank you enough for everything you made through the years.
But I wish you and your family the best of luck and happiness in life.
Thank you for that!
The flicks, flings and slings add personality to your videos. I would say you enjoy the video making process as much as the leather making. Im new and appreciate the effort you put in. Thanks
LOVE THE LIST THAT YOU USE THAT IM GOING TO HAVE TO COPY FROM YOU IF YOU DON'T MIND. I FORGET TO DO THINGS AND THIS WILL HELP THANKS.
You have been instrumental in shaping how I do my own leather craft. Bonus point for Chloe’s Awooooo
Thanks !!

Multumesc 👌 !
From Spain, my friend always following your videos, and contributing ideas.
Very pretty. Greetings gentleman.
Thanks for that!! And thanks for watching!!
Love the way you explain things !!! Excellent
Woodford reserve is a good whiskey. I recommend Angel's Envy bourbon if you have never tried it, especially if you add it to coffee.
Perfect!!!
Tell me more about your beautiful new leather pliers. I got the amy roke pliers after watching one of your shop tour videos.
I have both now. These are made by Kevin lee.
Less expensive, but they do not open as wide. So it depends on needs and budget.
am in love with that leather storage rack XOXO
That is the first video I enjoyed watching that %100-new method to create a video of all the steps quickly without missing any details. You made that on high quality plus fun, which didn't tire me, unlike another video I saw. THANK YOU SO MUCH. 👍👍👌👌👏👏
Awe !! Thanks for this!
Hello! You have great content delivery! Leather of the highest grade) I want to ask where to buy such a huge mat for cutting on the table? Thank you! You success in creativity and good!
Thanks! Alvin cutting mat. Amazon
@@MasconLeather thank you! 🤝
The easy way you cut your pattern out is great
Thanks !! And thanks for watching!!
Good stuff! I did leather work in 4H 40 years ago. You have inspired me to pick it back up. Thanks!
Perfect! Glad I could inspire!
I am saving up my money to buy all of your products. They ain’t cheap! But man.. I gotta have them
Thanks !!
Finally another long video with a lot of tips and fun! I really enjoy your channel and I took you as my online mentor 😀 thanks Artie for remote teaching and for sharing
Awe !!! Thanks for watching and the continued support!!
I miss your long videos too! You started me down the rabbit hole of leatherworking.
I really like the instructional voice over videos. Solid work as always!
Thanks, Joseph! And thanks for watching!!
Hey!!! First comment. Keep it coming Artie!!
Winner !!!! 😆
Thanks for the support!!
Fantastic. I was just wondering yesterday ‘why’ the Tocinol on the backside. Great video. Very appreciated.
Thanks, Kevin! Yes, the white mud makes the back as pretty as the front. Extra cost and steps, but it’s worth it. Thanks for watching!!
Top shelf all the way! A practical, handsome design. I dig your style of video production, great content and of course Chloe. I know how much work it takes to put it all together. Thanks. Bravo.
Awe!!! Thanks again, for the continued support and comments! And for appreciating the video work (and Chloe). 😆
Great learning video. I’m a beginner and aspire to be as good as you one day. Love your videos.
Thanks, Gregg! Just take your time and have fun. It’ll all start to click and then you can just enjoy the ride (and magic).
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all the great videos!! can I ask what is the "White Mud" ? Thanks!!
Thanks !!!! White mud - yep. See my “question and answer “ video. I explain it all.
Great video as usual, Artie. Thanks for the time you put into these. Your tips have been very helpful to me.
Thanks, Jason!! I appreciate the continued support!
And thanks for watching!
My daily carry is a sightly taller (to accomodate half-folded bills) "Dufrane". It's the second wallet i made. The first was the actual "Dufrane". Both made from cheap Chinese veg-tan that i dyed navy and red.
I've made many other designs of wallets now using higher end leathers, mostly small minimalist ones, but this one is always on hand.
That was amazing! 🤓 Thank you 👍
Beautiful work!!!
Awe!! Thanks! And thanks for watching!!
Very cool tips thanks for sharing.
Thanks for another awesome video! I started in leathercraft about a year ago after stumbling across one of your videos and I can’t thank you enough for all I have learned. Though I don’t think my wife is as thankful since you turned me on to Horween. 😂
😆
Thanks for watching!!
I MUST know where you got your stamp?? My boyfriend loves all of your videos and leather working, we watch you daily and he’s made so many things - I enjoy learning the tricks myself!! He always raves about your “woman” stamp and I would like to purchase one for his 66 birthday in October , different from your design obviously!! Since you use top quality, I thought you would be the using the best stamp maker as well.
I had it custom made. Thanks for watching!!
Handmade things of beauty and durability you get to carry personally everyday. EDC! Wonderfully made. You're awesome dude! Great watch and great vid! Thanks!
Thanks ! And thanks for watching!
Love the color combo. Making me want to build a new wallet. Thanks for the Dremel sanding tip. I haven't thought about it pulling up the fibers. That will make less work for me. Thanks. Stay awesome.
Thanks, Adam! Yes, fibers in leather are similar to grains in wood. (I have carpentry and masonry backgrounds). So I wouldn’t sand against grain. With leather, I equate that to fibers.
@@MasconLeather I understand, I have recently gotten into woodworking myself and learning about grain direction. It makes a lot of sense to me. I appreciate that you are willing to teach. I'm thankful to get to learn as much as I can. Knowledge is more valuable than gold. Thanks
Perfect! And thanks for watching!
Thank you so much bro, Great amazing video. Health to your hands :)
🤘
Ah yes, Franklin "Teddy" Roosevelt 😆 great vid as always 👍
Thanks!!!
See video description for more on frank and Theodore, etc etc. 5th cousins, etc etc.
New guy here to cause new guy disruptions.
You said there was a reason for three types of leather, but the only reason you gave for one of them was how it would take on a logo. Then you simply started to state facts about the other 2 and didn’t give any reasons😉
Fantastic looking product, great eye.
I've done the same trick, of slicking the flesh side of veg-tan using gum trag....
👍
Just got into leather craft myself. Your videos are inspiring an super informative! Thanks my man!
Thank you for that!
Awesome video, super inspiring and helpful !!
Thanks!! And thanks for watching!!
Bravo!!!!! I love this guy
Thanks !!
Thank you for making your videos. It is helping me make leather wallets better. The issue I have is that the card holder is the right size but when I put it all together it then becomes to small. I can't wait till iget good enough to put my cards into a hand made wallet without any issue.
Another great vid (as usual...) Apparently some out there don't get the flow of the bump jigs, but ever since I started using them, all is SO much faster, easier, and much more accurate... Also, did I see correctly in the vid that there is possibly a new smaller square on the way from Mascon/ZeeBee...??? (🤞)
All well said. Some don’t “get it”. And that’s ok. Some don’t “want to” get it. Because it goes against all the learning they’ve accumulated. Again, that’s ok.
But when those who do it, “get it”, it simply clicks. An “ah ha” moment and it’s like magic. That’s all we want. To help and make it easier to get to the same end goal. Perfection.
Rulers - good eye. We’ll keep everyone posted as we move closer to release dates. 2 more tools that will make your leather craft seem like magic.
This video. Damn. The editing alone is incredible and it's clear how much work you put into it! Great video!
Thanks!!! I love when folks notice and appreciate the filming and editing. That all takes 60+ hours. The wallet only takes 2. 😆
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and especially comment.
Desde España, amigo mio siempre siguiendo vuestros videos, y aportando ideas.
Muy bonito. Un saludo caballero.
🤘🤘🤘
Good stuff! Definitely need to get myself some bump jigs.
Thanks!
And yea, just like us know and we’ll get you set up!
I stumbled across your page and just love how you explain it and you make it sound so easy 😀I thank you for this as I just started a new hobby! Also, the tools that you show, are amazing, and appreciate you mentioning them and demonstrating them as this makes it easy for me to buy them and follow each of your steps!
Thanks for this! And for watching!
A comprehensive compendium of leatherworking craftsmanship, creativity, and cleverness. One of the best you've been kind enough to share. Appreciate you and your work. Cheers.
What a great comment! Thanks for that!
And thanks for watching!
Absolutely the best part of my day! Must see tv for me
Awe ! Thanks for that!
And thanks for watching!
ok so I am going to give leather crafting a try because of you man. You inspire me; great work man!
Thanks for the tip with the ink pad. I've been having trouble with my stamp in chrome tanned leather and have been experimenting (unsuccessfully) with hot foil and a soldering iron. The black ink works a charm!
I just can’t guarantee the longevity of the ink. My wallet is fine, But it’s only been 6-7 months
Love the vid Artie, nice to see a longer video for a change
Thanks, Russell!!
Thanks, love you stuff and learning every video!
Thanks ! And thanks for watching!!
Hi from Australia, I have only just developed an interest in leather craft and finding your channel has been amazing. I have been binge watching all your videos ever since. I really enjoy you work and some of your unique methods it has help me understand things much better so thank you for your efforts in sharing your knowledge and making it interesting, fun and presenting it in such a different and entertaining way. Also great to see you see you occasionally using some Kangaroo leather from down under. Hope all is well with you and your family, keep up the wonderful work.
Thanks for that! And thanks for watching!!
Always amazing!
Awe! Thanks, sir! And thanks for watching!
Nice! Always so fun to watch.
Thanks !! And thanks for watching!!
Love your style! Classy and clean! Trying to learn, and your a big help!
Awe !! Thank you!!
very neat! love how detailed but easy the explanation is. Will make one this weekend
Perfect!!
Fantastic work! I swear man, you are like the one stop shop for doing it right👍🏼
😆
I do too much sometimes.
Thanks for watching!
@@MasconLeather your stuff is always informative, no matter the length 👍🏼
I saw another leather crafter video on bump jigs. I had to laugh because he made it much harder than it needed to be. I guess he never watched your videos. Once you know how it is super easy.
Yes …. This has come up many times (likely the same video).
It’s ok. Some don’t want to disregard all of their acquired knowledge for something that will help them. Again, it’s ok.
But once people try it and “see it”, everything clicks and that “ah ha” moment arises.
Hhmm. This is easier? And faster? Wow.
Thanks for watching and replying!
I always learn something new from your vids. I'm planning my first wallet and this has answered some questions I had about construction techniques and steps. Thanks for the inspiration.
Perfect!! Thanks for watching!
Made in the USA!! That's what we like to see on goods. Support American manufacturers, especially hand-crafted goods. It's great these skills are passed from one generation to the next and you often have families with generations learning the craft. I love Swiss watches and collect them, my favourite manufacturer is Rotary owned by a family of watchmakers for over 100 years.
I like rotary as well!
Thanks for watching!!
Great video. You’ve inspired me. Do you have a video that covers all your tools?
Thanks! Yes, I have a video on tools. And the tool cart, etc
🤘
HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃!!!!
👍
I appreciate your organization and thought process. Great video
On Montana Can or any good graffiti-Shop you can find refillable pens in different sizes, big one for more layers…
I never one miss my again!
Absolutely wonderful! Thank you.
Thanks, Paul!
Artie, thanks for your videos. They are in a class of their own, great work. I learn so much from you and your designs are an inspiration. Whenever I'm demotivated, your videos get me back on track. Health and happiness to you and your family and keep up the good work. p.s. I love your leather choice, it's terrific. Greetings from Germany, Tom
Awe. Thank you for that!
Great video
Thanks !!
Beautiful work and you make it look so effortless!
Thanks again . Love your stuff
My pleasure!
Super skilled. Thanks
Thanks !!
very nice! thanks for the tips!
Love your videos, It appears as though you leave a deep impression as well as ink.Is there a place they can be purchased?
Thanks for the videos love your artistic style.
Thanks!!!! This one was delrin. Most others are brass. If you’re careful, the ink can work. Can’t promise the longevity of the ink, however
Can’t imagine why I’m just finding your channel. Great stuff mate! Did I see a bottle of Woodford!? 🥃
Thanks for watching. Yes. Woodford.
Beautiful wallet as usual!! Been watching your videos for a while now. Looks a whole lot easier than another person demonstrated 🤣🤣. Keep up the great videos.✌🏻
Right?! 😆
Some don’t want to explore new and better ways to achieve the results. And that’s ok. They don’t like the idea of abandoning all the time they’ve already invested in past techniques. Even if the new way may be faster and easier.
Again…, that’s ok. I understand.
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!
New to this channel, awesome videos! I want to try leather craft but scared to actually try.
That Tokonole is a bit pricey, but you’ve purchased it in a good quantity. I keep trying to think of an alternative for the rough sides since it’s rarely seen.
It’s so worth it. Did you see my video on questions and answers? I show how I’ve tried soooo many alternatives in the last 10 years. Nothing i made or found can compare
@@MasconLeather guess that’s one I’ve missed. I’ll go look back. Thx

Pleasure to see you making wallets 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks! And thanks for watching !
My mom gave me an old suitcase full of my grandfather's leather tools and patterns, now I can see what some of the tools are used for.
Perfect!!
Can’t tell you how much I’ve learned from you. Really appreciate all of your techniques. Where do you get your large cut off punch made?
Beautiful in its simplicity and design. Great video. Just a friendly FYI. "Teddy" Roosevelt was the Roughrider President. You showed Franklin Delano Roosevelt, or FDR. 😁 Cheers and thanks for the Chloe fix.
Thanks!! And yes, I typed it ALL in the video description. They were 5th cousins. Wallet named after the bear she’s holding. Thus Theodore. Bear named after him. Etc etc.
I explain it all. 😉
Good work sir
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Started learning how to work with leather. First of all, I bought the most important thing - a doll))))

Awesome video (as usual)! I DID like that you showed a mistake-I was beginning to think you were perfect! Makes me as a beginner not feel as bad when I make a mistake-even though mine are usually worse. Great overall vibe to all of your videos!
Thanks, Kent ! Oh, I make mistakes every day. But, I welcome them. Because it gives me a chance to learn more. They’re a good thing.
Thanks for commenting and watching!
Awesome tips.
where did you get your bump jigs?
We make them.

Nice work! Excellent skills!
Beautiful work. Love your design. You continue to inspire.
Thanks for this wealth of information, I feel like I'm learning all the trade secrets. One question though - how do you get the stitches to come out so perfect on the backside? Mine often end up going in a slightly diagonal line.
Hello, I have a question. I purchased the Amy Roke Leather Edge Clamp that you have shown in your amazing videos.
The quality of them is amazing.
My question is I don't know how to sew the leather hand grips on, can you be of any help? Maybe a video 😊 Thanks from all of us out here that have learned so much from your videos and your sons quality tools.
Did yours come with leather grips to sew on? That’s what I’d get. Easy
would love to know where you get those extra large stitching punches from - the largest I have been able to find is a 6 prong...
Thanks for the great vids and the inspiration!
Parabéns pelo trabalho. Excelente vídeo. Thanks...
Thanks ! And thanks for watching!
Is the "horse Dublin" horse front? Or is it something Horween makes for you? I can't seem to find it on any of the sites you mention in your videos.
I learn something every time I watch this. Love all your videos!
Hey! It’s from A & A crack and son in England. Ironic. Chicago to England back to USA. 😆
