    Nice video and super impressed with your enthusiasm. It's always a lot of work trying to get a perfect finish on a paint job but the results are always worth the elbow grease. I was looking closely at the clear coat after you wet sanded and then compounded. Granted the finish looked quite good, but you could still see a lot of imperfections in the surface. If you had wanted to get a really perfect result you should have wet sanded more until your surface finish was absolutely flat. Compounding would have then resulted in a truly magnificent finish. Good job, but you could have done way better.

      I appreciate the feedback always like getting advice and to be pushed further! I was hesitant of wet sanding more as we spray painted this car and its not a professional paint job. Granted we did use a proper 2 part clear coat with hardener but I wasn’t sure we put enough on and didn’t want to burn through the clear coat wet sanding but I’ve got back after this video and re did some wet sanding and its MUCH better now!

    Thanks for making this video, it's appreciated! Spray painted a new bumper and it came pretty good but had some orange peel. After watching a couple videos including this one I was able to get the paint like glass! I did use a foam block pad and not just the sandpaper though. Thanks again!

    I woild really recommend taping up corners you dont want to sand and panels. I first sanded my roof and accidentally sanded the side panels next to the roof

    I just sanded a corner of my car roof and I kept stroking it like you guys! Do smoooooth, and reflective. A bit odd though I can see primer in one section as if I sanded too deep, but I couldn't have done,and it feels like clear of over the top still. Not sure what's going on there. Can't wait to go the rest of it, but I was using 1500 grit, do I'll get 2000 and 3000

      Ohh sorry for the confusion lol when I’m referring to “2k” im referring to the clear coat thats being wet sanded as it is a 2k clear coat!

    Great video! How many coats of spray paint are on the car before you decide to wet sand? I saw a guy do this with one layer of Rust-Oleum spray paint, using 3000 grit sandpaper (same wet sanding method) and he ate through his paint job.

    • @brashgarage
      @brashgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! There is 3 color coats but that is not what you're meant to sand… there's 3 coats of clear coat on over the paint and that's what you wet sand to refine the finish! I don’t do any of this to single stage paint.

  • @readywerx

    • @brashgarage
      @brashgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      100% correct don’t even wash it don’t touch it just let it be for 2 weeks some places will even paint ur car then will hold it for 2 weeks before they call you to come pick it up. You wanna make 110% sure it’s cured before you touch it, fresh clear is so soft for awhile.

    When do you dry sand vs wet sand

    • @brashgarage
      @brashgarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would only ever wet sand when working with paint to make the outcome and appearance better. Dry sanding is basically just for removing material quickly like taking the old paint off the car so you can repaint it or sanding off rust, etc. When you want to sand painted piece, unless you wanna remove the paint, always wet sand with high grit then follow it up with compound, polish, and wax or sealant!

  • @richf9608

    • @brashgarage
      @brashgarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน
