I like the small touch where whoever does the worst either tires out first if you fail or is the last to run to the next barrier if you succeed, and likewise the best tires last and runs first.

Dude, Tim referenced one of my absolute favorite Sting songs, the tragically obscure "It's Probably Me." Nowhere near enough people know that song, so I love Tim even more now!
I love Sting! That entire album was fascinating. Who even knows it still exists? It's hard to say it, I haaate to say it but it's probably just us. Haha
It might very well be just us! I'm with you, though. "Ten Summoner's Tales" and "Dream of the Blue Turtles" are definitely my favorite Sting solo albums. If you haven't heard it yet, you've gotta check out his "Demolition Man" EP from 1993. He rerecorded the Police song for a movie of the same name, but then included a handful of live tracks from the "Summoner's" tour, including "It's Probably Me" and "Love is Stronger Than Justice," along with a cover of The Beatles' "A Day in the Life." It's a real hidden gem! :)

I like how the order the miis start to run is based on who did better, it's a neat detail
That game they couldn't do reminds me a lot of a minigame from Mario Party DS, where you were running through bushes and had to use the touchscreen/stylus to swipe leaves aside as quickly as possible
While the similarities are fairly obvious, Moonbase Escape is all about going fast, while Hedge Honchos (that particular Mario Party DS minigame) will screw you over if you rush forward blindly.
Mario party ds had a lot of good minigames.

I don't actually have a problem with motion controls in of itself. It just depends how good or bad they're implemented.
It's one of the reasons why I'm decent with Splatoon compared to a few other shootings games I've played. Any game of that genre that involves me using a stick to aim with I will automatically suck at.
Besides, the motion controls in Odyssey are not bad, and they're pretty much optional. Even if they have more advanced moves, they're really not required.

Odyssey's motion controls weren't even bad.
Nice-Guy Hunter Agreed. Like the worst thing I found about it was the fact that Sherm’s turret was so sensitive (kinda wish there was button that allowed you to lock the turret in place while held). Otherwise, it was very responsive. Maybe Jon had problems because of that issue with the metal piece in the earlier joy-cons that caused connection issues.
Considering the fact it's well known that motion controls on the Nintendo Switch were _designed_ with Super Mario Odyssey in mind, it would be surprising if they ended up being badly implemented.
Rexaura888 Well, another issue is you need the motion controls to do advanced stuff and you can accidentally ground pound instead of diving. I've seen several folks like Jwittz fall victim to that.
NoirCore That’s fair, although advanced techniques exclusive to motion control aren’t required for most challenges (save for the ones that require attacking like with Cheep-Cheeps). Never had the issue with the dive as I use button inputs for that (only thing is I’m still working on the timing for pulling off the cap jump more reliably).
I’ll be interested to hear what Jon has to say on the issue on tonight’s stream as I’m sure he’ll be asked that by the chat if he doesn’t preempt them.

I'll be another person to address Jon's saltiness at 8:50! The only situations I run into with bad motion controls in Odyssey is to make super complex combo jumps, like instead of diving, you groundpound. Besides, it was intended for motion controls to function more than button presses in the first place, and it definitely isn't unplayable unlike Wii games! So I'm glad that they have been going in the right direction :3

Yeah, no. Just gonna stop you right there. Galaxy and Galaxy 2 had better motion controls than Odyssey, as well as the motion controls feeling a lot less forced in the Galaxy games. In Galaxy it feels natural and intuitive, but in Odyssey it just feels forced

The Zekenator Only one I’ve had issue with was Sherm’s turret being overly sensitive (only at Seaside Kingdom about to go to Shiveria). Otherwise, it’s treated me fairly well, especially after Nintendo removed that metal part from my left Joy-Con.

Not true at all. Downward cap toss? Groundpound, quickly let go of zr, press y. Spin toss? Spin the control stick, press y. Stuff like that. Also, I'm just commenting on what Jon said.
Also, groundpound/dive? I don't know what you mean. Diving doesn't need motion controls, and neither does ground pounding.
Also also, I said pretty good, not perfect. I've had problems with the motion controls for aiming stuff.

Some folks hate motion controls, even in the Switch era, because they aren't guaranteed to be as responsive as buttons, which is a legitimate complaint, even if the expectation is that controls should practically do what you want all the time.
