Spray painting my hardtop | Miata Build EP4 | CCPfabrication hardtop

Hey everyone! We are one subscriber away from 100!!! you guys are awesome. I never thought I would get to triple digits. So this video was super fun to make and satisfying to do. The spraypaint I got was really nice and matched the color of my car. The hardtop from CCPfabrication itself is an 8 out of 10. there are a couple of things that are weird with it but I love it way more then my soft top and is 1/5th the price of an OEM hardtop.

Is there no seal for the top to body where windshield is? No leaks? Looks great

Yeah I thought the same thing but I don't have any issues with that. But I do have issues with the door window seal. I'm actually trying to figure that out right now

where did you get those window seals they look thicker than the cheap ones that come with most aftermarket tops

Everything I have for the hardtop came with it. I believe I have a link in the description for the hardtop. The company I bought it from also sells the seals individually

Would you say you need the same amount of primer, base coat, and clear coat for a hood? 2002 Miata.

I would say so. But I would get one extra can of each just in case

Did you sand in between each coat?

I did not. I made each coat pretty light. It came out good, but I would recommend sanding the clear coat and buffing, polishing, and then protect it with wax or some other sun protection

The sand paper I used ranged from 500-3,000 grit and I did it by hand

Try and over lap your sprays just a little bit and don't go too heavy. Have a steady hand and start and end your spray off the part you're painting. Let each coat dry for 15-20 min, then repeat process until it's one consistent color. Hope that helps👍 you got this. Ps: there are a lot of better how to videos on spray painting car parts. I'd go give them a watch
