    • @royscarbrough4844
      @royscarbrough4844 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@andresviveros3994 It can be done at IBJJ tournaments. I just watched a guy take 4 golds last weekend using the imanari to ankle lock. I noticed the same in the video though, Its crucial to keep the foot on the hip/ prevent crossing the pelvis so you dont get called for the reap but it is definitely doable and extremely efficient if done correctly.

    Imanari himself reaches for the knee not the ankle.
    Im not saying you are wrong, but the knee grab just seems a more viable option at full speed.

    • @vmbrazilianjj
      @vmbrazilianjj  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The knee is a better option for capturing the knee line and hitting the leg lock. The ankle is a better variation for the takedown. Hope this helps 👍

    how come some people roll on the INSIDE?

    • @vmbrazilianjj
      @vmbrazilianjj  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ruben Toder honestly I don’t really know why, the only logical reason I can think of, is that’s may go on the inside to “grab a leg” instead of “going for a leg” in this situation
      Does that make sense?

    • @wrestlejitsu_ruben
      @wrestlejitsu_ruben 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Varun Mehrotra you mean like instead of attacking a leg, controlling a leg instead maybe for a sweep or for another reason ?

    • @vmbrazilianjj
      @vmbrazilianjj  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sorta, I mean they just aim to grab any leg, then do the technique instead of targeting a specific leg for this move.

    • @jabara83
      @jabara83 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it actually works either way. It works with staggered leg forward, or same legs forward.

    • @lutang
      @lutang 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Going to the outside means all the opponent needs to do is just lift their leg and step out. Modern leg-lock grapplers have many entrances and attacks from the inside position, so they feel natural going from the position they're probably going to be in already. Also, the inside gives you more points of contact with your opponent, which keeps them LESS likely to just step away if you roll too slow or don't surprise them. Quick pointer, don't do this entry naked. Do it after a combo or strike the lands, or if you keep sending straights to the body to distract them, then this time you just go all the way in and down.

  • @tim707max
    @tim707max 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Is this legal in the gi you won't get called for reaping?

    • @vmbrazilianjj
      @vmbrazilianjj  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you are doing it in tournaments that don't allow reaping you will have to be careful of this, the best way I have found to stop the reaping is to keep your heels tucked to your butt and your knees tucked into your chest. - This needs a lot of drilling
      Hope this helps

    • @kenjiodatrotter986
      @kenjiodatrotter986 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my limited point of view as a white belt, it certainly looks like a reap in this video; its a very effective move awesome sweep, and great tutorial btw, but if you can't try it out in a club without people freaking out or in a tournament without getting a penalty or disqualification, I'd like to know how exactly to modify it and make it more "friendly"... is what you've shown the friendly version or standard gangster imanari roll?

    • @vmbrazilianjj
      @vmbrazilianjj  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenji Oda Trotter this is a more friendly version, you can make it meaner by using your top leg to hook their far leg. But as I said before if you drill it enough, you will go straight into a legal variation of single leg x

  • @edwardkaeser2533
    @edwardkaeser2533 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    10 years as a young teen. When a kid becomes of age they are white belt as adults(16 year a of age). They can be given blk or even higher but most are white belts. Good instructions but lay off showing technique at least till purple. Keep it to your white belt buddy.
