List of Traptrix monsters and their real life representations: Allomerus: Allomerus decemarticulatus; Arachnocampa: New Zealand Glowworm; Atrax: Australian Funnel-web Spider; Atypus: Purseweb Spider; Cularia: Sanderson's Bladderwort; Dionaea: Venus Flytrap; Genlisea: Corkscrew Plant; Holetaea: Hortaea wernecki; Mantis: Pink Orchid Mantis; Myrmeleo: Antlion; Nepenthes: Tropical Pitcher Plant; Pinguicula: Butterwort; Pudica: Underground Pitcher Plant; Rafflesia: Same name as the card; Sera: Sundew; Vesiculo: Waterwheel Plant. Each of the real life counterparts have either some kind of trap-setting behavior or mimicry ability, and the two I find the most interesting are the Hortaea wernecki, which produces a layer of melanin on the infected region, "mimicking" human skin, and the Sundew, that just wraps itself around their prey and digests them in the open. This comment is too long but just wanted to share some info about it.

I've been playing Traptrix on and off since HAT format, and I gotta say it's been interesting seeing the evolution of the deck in real-time from a rank 4 engine, to Rafflesia, to a slow yet self-contained control strategy to a faster control and now more of a mid-range while still keeping to its unique interactions with Traps. They have a really unique way of playing Traps, and I hope they become more of a force than people are expecting. Also this video made me realize how much I've been sleeping on Floodgate, it's going to be really good post-Hypernova.

I'm so excited for this structure to release, myself. I absolutely love Traptrix, and have practiced with the new cards online quite a bit. These new cards are so good and have made the deck more consistent, and I am absolutely buying multiple copies of the structure based on the number of the new cards per copy.
I won't forget that "Evenly Matched" should have been reprinted in the Spirit Charmers Structure Deck. But Konami pulled the old switcheroo and replaced it with something else and reprint the card in Magnificent Mavens. Anyone remember how "Crossout Designator" was suppose to be reprinted in the Ice Barrier Structure but they swap that out and later reprint the card in the 2022 tin. That is my salty rant but moving on I cannot wait for the Traptrix Structure to drop soon might pick it up. It is cool they did reprint "Evenly Matched" in this set.
"It adds a hole trap card to your hand" My distracted ass using the video as background noise: "A whole trap card? Is that even a way to get half a trap card to your hand?"
I love Traptrix, genuinely so excited for the new cards- there are few things quite as cathartic as hitting someone with a fucking bottomless trap hole in 2023. Plus, the way Rafflesia allows you to access all the tools in your deck makes deckbuilding super interesting- I never thought i'd be out here playing trap hole of spikes but hey, it comes up, and its won me games
Just some random, disorganized thoughts with my own experimentation with the deck. It's not gonna be a relevant card for the deck in PHHY format (or for a while admittedly, until it's out), but I've been fiddling with Time-Rending Morganite and unironically I think it's a perfect fit for the deck. Imagine getting 3 Normal Summons in a turn without being a bird. I think Holetaea, while crazy, is easy to shave to 2 because it's so incredibly searchable off of both Myrmeleo and Sera. I've been on and off with both Nepenthes and Treacherous. They're a bit high risk, but having what is essentially a second Sera on board and a quick effect +2 with Rafflesia is something I find to be worth it more often than not. I would consider playing a 2nd Ping and a 2nd Dio. The former just because I feel it comes up a lot, and the latter because it's the best way to recycle your "Hole" traps, including Holetaea, as well as whatever you pitch *off* of Holetaea. I'm genuinely pretty proud of this deck and how far it's come with this new support, being able to threaten rogue status in Tear 0 format of all things. The new cards don't transform the deck's entire playstyle, but merely greatly enhance what it could already do, and give it some neat tools so that it's not *totally* helpless going second (although obviously the ideal is still to go first).
The only issue with Morganite is that it turns off Arachno's summon effect since her SS is an effect. Of course if you are willing to give that up it'd probably be worth. I guess in away you only really are giving up the ability to quick summon her since extension wise you can still use her as one under Morganite.
And as it was revealed, Wannabee is also a good tech option in this deck acting as a go-first handtrap to help get you to any keep traps. Provided you excavated any.
It definitely seems like there’s potential for Traptrix. Going second with the deck is still rough, but it’s at least feasible with the new options the deck has. This could be a solid meta deck if Tear takes a few hits on the next banlist. I don’t think any Tears will get banned, but I could see the deck getting hit with multiple limits.
Every main deck Tear except for Merrli is either limited or semi-limited in the OCG with Pelerino being limited and Kitkallos being banned. I think it's likely there will be some (semi)limits to Tears especially Reinoheart. Banning Kitkallos is a bit much though. The problem isn't the power of the extra monsters, it's the consistency and recoverability of the main deck.
It’s been seeing some play in a couple OCG tourneys post ban. Sees (kind of) consistent use, and has reached top 5 most represented decks in some tourneys. Still gets fucked over by spright brigade if they go second though. Or like, most of the meta.
@@NickWuebker They'd have to get hit too; mainly Keldo and Agido which are also OCG limited. The problem like I said earlier is the deck's ability to recover from any amount of removal that's not banishment or returning cards to the deck. Currently there are no strategies that can consistently do that. Dogmatika can kind of do it now and in future with Zoa in Hypernova, but that runs the risk of dumping an entire hand of them to the GY which turns on the deck. The only real way is to just hard draw in to Shifter and Macro/DimFis or do something gimmicky like quick synchro in to Ruddy Rose. Kshatriya will likely check the deck, but those are all hard OPT and they don't gain advantage as immediately or quickly as Tear nor can they recover as quickly as Tear.
@UC9A9vZcLuI5RCVYp3x_eeWw Winda is fine. Winda is nothing without a deck to enable it with no inherent protection. Floodgates are not inherently bad; especially floodgates that can't protect themselves. It's a good target for Instant Fusion but that card is broken inherently and is the true problem. Kitkallos would be fine at 1 as you can't recycle it as easily as the other Tears and using Intant Fusion requires drawing in to an unsearchable card that's already limited and powerful whether Tears exist or not. Really just follow the OCG list but put Kitkallos to 1. If the Maxx "C" format can push through that much interaction then I think that a slightly less punishing restriction is in order. With Kshatriya coming to full power in the TCG soon banhammering Tears hard will just trade one tier 0 deck for another.
Cons of playing Traptrix: Still kinda bad on the draw. Pros: With a Prisma Illya mat and Blue Archive sleeves, you'll make your opponent so uncomfortable they'll scoop before game three just so the cops don't think they're complicit.
There are two fiend cards that I found out go well with Traptrix- Absolute King Back Jack and Dark Eye Nightmare. You need to bring out Nightmare first, banish 3 trap cards to do the Graceful Charity effect (pick up two cards, discard 1) If Back Jack is in your hand you can discard him, then banish him to pick up the top three cards and put any traps in your hand and rearrange the other cards in any order. Or you can play the old school fiend Big Eye, who basically does what the other two do, you just can't draw any of the cards you rearrange.
I'm liking traptrix not gonna lie, I like how many different interactions it can put up instead of just flip three floodgates and watch opponent do nothing
Honestly when I heard they were adding more support for traptrix I was happy and now can't wait to get the structure deck when it comes out, especially since it'll make Sera easier to get. Only gripe is that I wish I knew how to make a deck so I could build a good traptrix deck that isn't just 2 of every traptrix card and trap hole
The traptrix look like that so that they look weak and vulnerable to predators. A lot of the trap hole cards have oni having fallen for their traps, which I believe are supposed to eat people
I have incredible memories of summoning Junk Destroyer via Junk Anchor and Giant and just sitting on it against Traptrix They couldn't do a thing once it was on the field
Wait, the new support actually looks sick I really liked the Traptrix gameplay back when I was playing the Switch game and using a pure Traptrix + Trap Hole deck, might have to look into it more
I really liked the video in every way, the only thing that for me is a little bit off is the ratio of the traptrix and the traps, but this is from of the prospective of someone that play trap and hole control. Anyway the list is really solid.
Honestly I love the new support. Traptrix is very fun to play and it's challenging, my list looks a bit different so gonna take inspiration from this one.
Since the structure was announced, I've been running 2 Dionaea so I can recover the pitched trap from holetea's effect; it's a great way to get a free card
Honestly thank you for supplying me with the copium of the idea that these are venous fly taps made for THOSE predators. I couldn't pass up on this deck as a new player just because it has so many useful staples but I even told my friends that I don't want to play this deck because of the artwork. Still feel super weird about it, I'll probably just stick with dark worlds but your explanation did ease my suffering a bit.
@mbtYu-Gi-Oh! i really love your videos. it helps me learn combos for decks I'm trying out and such. i really look forward to these, sometimes they're the highlight of my whole week. but,... i gotta ask, where's the 10-minute testing on the knew superheavy support? i've been dying to see it.
I love traptrix. I used to splash myrmeleo and a couple bottomless holes in all my decks. That was back when it wasnt so imperative to play an archetype though.
I know Prosp gets you further into the deck but have you considered the new in archetype draw card traptrix allure? Sometimes dumping a traptrix monster or a normal trap can be beneficial. Like being able to dump a holetaea to draw 2, then being able to reborn with the holetaea now in grave

These new cards are so good and have made the deck more consistent, and I am absolutely buying multiple copies of the structure based on the number of the new cards per copy.
Ten minute testing is the best piece of yugioh content on yt rn, only maybe rivaled by history of yugioh and archetype archive
"It adds a hole trap card to your hand"
My distracted ass using the video as background noise: "A whole trap card? Is that even a way to get half a trap card to your hand?"
I appreciate losing composure at the end of the opening bit
Lmao you keep coming up with better intro opening. It's amazing honestly how you keep managing to top yourself.
14:19 Infip being a hand trap _trap_ is just the best thing ever sometimes
And as it was revealed, Wannabee is also a good tech option in this deck acting as a go-first handtrap to help get you to any keep traps. Provided you excavated any.
Your skits are amazing. Never change
I am trying to get my friend into yugioh and they expressed interest in traptrix, how convenient
these intros are gold thank you MBT you are truly amazing
Effective lures indeed. Someone should plant some to clean up that island that's known for the guy that didn't have a Scrap Kong effect.
Ngl, the second he said “To Catch a Stun Player” I thought we were getting a Gavin cameo
To catch a stun player is one of the best bits I've ever seen
@@thorscape3879 The issue with the deck now and always has been the Ishizu cards and I expect there next on the chopping block in the OCG.
The To Catch a Predator parody is insanely funny on soo many levels.
17:03 yeah these kind of situations banish 6 really gets you. maybe 3 is the call just in case cuz the links are actually useful
Cons of playing Traptrix: Still kinda bad on the draw.
Pros: With a Prisma Illya mat and Blue Archive sleeves, you'll make your opponent so uncomfortable they'll scoop before game three just so the cops don't think they're complicit.
True
Truuuuuuue
wear a pin with a crying emoji and go UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH SHOUKAN whenever you special summon a traptrix to seal the deal
being so based that your opponent surrenders
There are two fiend cards that I found out go well with Traptrix- Absolute King Back Jack and Dark Eye Nightmare. You need to bring out Nightmare first, banish 3 trap cards to do the Graceful Charity effect (pick up two cards, discard 1) If Back Jack is in your hand you can discard him, then banish him to pick up the top three cards and put any traps in your hand and rearrange the other cards in any order.
Or you can play the old school fiend Big Eye, who basically does what the other two do, you just can't draw any of the cards you rearrange.
This is genuinely one of your best intro sketches
I'm liking traptrix not gonna lie, I like how many different interactions it can put up instead of just flip three floodgates and watch opponent do nothing
you should check out labrynth then
Honestly when I heard they were adding more support for traptrix I was happy and now can't wait to get the structure deck when it comes out, especially since it'll make Sera easier to get. Only gripe is that I wish I knew how to make a deck so I could build a good traptrix deck that isn't just 2 of every traptrix card and trap hole
ez, copy it from someone else
The traptrix look like that so that they look weak and vulnerable to predators. A lot of the trap hole cards have oni having fallen for their traps, which I believe are supposed to eat people
I have incredible memories of summoning Junk Destroyer via Junk Anchor and Giant and just sitting on it against Traptrix
They couldn't do a thing once it was on the field
Traptrix is one of my all time faves since I adore trap decks
Seems like this list is really light on actual traps, torrential and IDP are just so good
Omg yes plz. I love when you do these skits. Keep em coming
Yessssss I've been waiting for this as soon as the support was announced
Wait, the new support actually looks sick
I really liked the Traptrix gameplay back when I was playing the Switch game and using a pure Traptrix + Trap Hole deck, might have to look into it more
I can't wait to try this on Master Duel, in 2 years
Jinzo seems like the type of guy to investigate child endangerment suspects, and then later get tried for murder
And Wildheart is the type of guy who would always pass through and escape unscathed from them.
"let's make almost naked plant lolis"
"cool, degenerate fanservice. what should they do?"
"stun, and also possibly have the worst mirror ever"
I really liked the video in every way, the only thing that for me is a little bit off is the ratio of the traptrix and the traps, but this is from of the prospective of someone that play trap and hole control. Anyway the list is really solid.
14:48 aged like milk
Honestly I love the new support. Traptrix is very fun to play and it's challenging, my list looks a bit different so gonna take inspiration from this one.
The to catch a predator skit was fire 😂🤣 they have theyre own special spot in the Shadowrealm for em
Of course MBT would do a ten minute testing on the bussy Archetype
Wait theyre plants and spiders what ussy is that?
Bruh in this case, using p instead of b will do
@@dhanyl2725 plant-ussy, of course
@@dhanyl2725 yeah but TRAPtrix, are their genders actually confirmed anywhere?
@@LilyApus a: they're called that because they lure in other monsters and then eat them, as well as using trap cards
b: please go outside jesus christ
MAAN MAAAN, YOUR INTROS... IF PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU REFERENCE, OH GOD, YOU ARE A GENIUS !
My favorite traptrix card got to be evenly matched
Wow, an mbt video as I woke up? Damn lucky day.
Gm!
I love traptrix so much, i stopped watching my god of war ragnarök walkthrough just to come and see this.
That was the best intro to a TH-cam video I’ve ever seen
Traptrix players: Sus
Labrynth players: Horny
Exosister players: Trad
Eldlich players: Chad
“They took that form to lure in pedophiles”
Ah, so extremely effective against the Yugioh playerbase, wise choice
never seen traptrix before. wish I could go back to that time
The Intro was amazing
Since the structure was announced, I've been running 2 Dionaea so I can recover the pitched trap from holetea's effect; it's a great way to get a free card
Ngl, the intro gave me boondocks flashbacks. It just missed that "I like ya and I want ya" or " I want booty"
I think Chris of the Ten Thousand Handsen may be the single best Yugioh pun
As a traptrix girl, the mirror does, in fact, suck.
I love traptrix. I used to splash myrmeleo and a couple bottomless holes in all my decks. That was back when it wasnt so imperative to play an archetype though.
"The girl was just a plant you say? Please have a seat."
At least if you're playing Eldlich you aren't too uncomfortable. Traptrix just feels wrong.
Technically, or morally?
You gotta pay the troll's toll to get into the boy's soul
I know Prosp gets you further into the deck but have you considered the new in archetype draw card traptrix allure? Sometimes dumping a traptrix monster or a normal trap can be beneficial. Like being able to dump a holetaea to draw 2, then being able to reborn with the holetaea now in grave
That was one of your best skits in ages
Me when i explode by activating standby redoer effect against the deck that gets their effects when detatched from redoer
I’m glad mbt took out the punch sound effects when showing ygoprodeck😂🤣
