    Only a few things to add here. Be mindful of your stride length and how much you're leaning to one side with the suitcase carry.
    Longer strides opens you up to greater instability and potential injury. Shortening the stride, and using a smooth, rolling gait (heel to toe) will not only improve your balance, but you're protecting yourself from hip and lower back injuries. It doesn't matter that much at lighter weights, but once you start getting heavier, 2x32 or higher, or with heavy suit case carries, those details matter a lot more. This translates to all loaded carries as well.
    Loaded carries, of all kinds, should be in almost everybody's toolbox. I do a one-handed variation on the "farmer's life" myself, at least once a week.

    Our boy Chandler Marchman is a master at incorporating these carry variations at the end of the workouts he posts. Lotta love to him for getting me on these and to you too for highlighting them here 👍

    This stuff is gold. People need to be reminded to do this, and then you see the potential of where it can go.

    Thanks, great exercises. And to take it to the next level I use to add some "silly walk". Walking slowly, lifting one leg in the air for 3 sec, and then the other.

    Just got some new 45lb adjustable kbs. Farmer carried them, by the straps while still boxed up, from the office to my car in the outskirts of the parking lot.
    Totally hit my traps, still feeling it days later. Reminded me just how important carries are.

    My work out this morning would make Gregory happy I believe
    10x10 emom swings 24kg bell
    After every 5th set of swings throw in a set of 8 presses
    Suitcase carry that same bell 100 yards per arm
    Took 14 minutes in total and worked just about every muscle in the body.

    Started with kettlebells (with great improvement) a few months ago and have found your videos to be the most progressive, informative and safe. My only request is that you make better use of the giant mirror behind you. The way that you demonstrate male and female as well as front on and side on is great but you could double those points of view with more attention to camera angle. Just a thought xox

  • @TheWeardale1

    brilliant...
    quick question tho - i have various kettlebells (only 1 of a single weight..), would it be beneficial to do a farmers with 2 different weights (i.e. 28kg / 32kg / 36kg) and swap them over periodically , or just do a suitcase walk with one of them instead?

    • @drunknnirish
      @drunknnirish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could easily load different sides with different weights just make sure you do the work evenly.
      So if you do 16 in left and 24 in right make sure you do the same distance with 24 left and 16 right. Doing this will actually really help you identify any weakness from side to side.

      You can also mix the weighted carry variations. For example, waiter walk in one hand and suit case carry in the other. The more variety you build the more you'll activate your muscles. This is how you get "farm boy" strong.

    Great video > I believe you should build up a great swing before you start this workout > the kettle bell swing works the posterior chain ⛓️ you best get this strong 💪 first

    I have a question ?
    I walk backwards 15 minutes, 3 Times a week . It’s very good for the knees and all the muscles .
    Have you ever tried doing the KB walks going backwards ?

    Farmer’s Carries are a staple in every workout of mine, definitely have a ton of benefits. I consider the single sided carry to be more challenging because you have to stabilize your core from lateral movement and it just drains you, challenging the shit out of you and especially those obliques and spinal erectors

  • @joshhill8189
    @joshhill8189 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    thoughts on a one handed famers walk? fires all your core muscles for stability. then once you're done, pick it up with the other side and going again.

    Awesome demonstration! Thanks for posting. Do you have an alternative grip so that it does not hurt the elbows? I have issues with tennis elbow and just carrying in groceries like the farmers walk can set them off. Thanks.

    • @Greg_Chock
      @Greg_Chock 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dealt with tennis elbow too when doing pull ups. If this triggers your tendonitis you might need to make sure you are engaging your traps, shoulders and lats and not trying to use just your biceps to provide the power.

    • @ide1466
      @ide1466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got tennis elbow from using a crush grip instead of a hook grip during cleans. Let it heal. Don’t lift with it and it’ll be better in a few weeks.

    This is why i walk at times to the grocery store, and bring back two bags worth of stuff. Good video, but Im not wasting my time at the gym doing something i can actually do for something real in my life. Edit, at some times actually do that with one bag as well. And always accidentally fill it up with more stuff than i should, but eh: we need to get home so there's no quitting option.
