takes me back to my childhood. literally, every other kid at my primary school was dropped off in a black Land Cruiser ...but that was Moscow in 2003-2008.
Toyota's tank uses a lever-type fuel filler port. The lever-type refueling port is a method of unlocking the refueling port with a wire from the driver's seat, and is said to be highly reliable. In recent cars, the number of fuel filler openings that can be opened with one touch in conjunction with the door lock is increasing, and this is thought to be due to improvements in design and convenience. However, the lever-type fuel filler port also has its merits. For example, even if the door lock breaks down, it can be refueled, and it can be used to prevent theft.
That SUV is very popular with politicians in my country Kenya, many have already bought themselves that V6. Me personally I've shortlisted it now and when the economic status of my pocket will have improved. I'll go right ahead and buy it.
If you want something for the same price Mat recommends the Range Rover XD. After the monthly repair costs it will cost twice as much though. To be fair I guess if you're buying something like this repair costs aren't really concerning.
Proud owner of a 2017 Land Cruiser and I have to say one of my biggest annoyances is that footwell lever to open the fuel cover!! Having the hood release lever right next to it has had me running circles around the car pulling levers and closing things to just gas up 😅 surprised they kept that for the 300 series. What a beautiful machine though! Wish we could get the GR in the states! Such a great review as always Matt!
carwow, using a gac gs8, they should also review that thing. For countries whose govt. are preventing Chinese cars from entering the market due to political reasons, are missing so much. The fact that a GAC GS8 is running in the middle east is proof that that car is superbly made.
It seems that Mat had to REALLY look into the car to find 5 annoying things. And even then that fuel cap one was a head scratcher because why in the hell would you want anyone to open the fuel cap so easily? I think that having the mechanical lever on the inside is a good security measure
I'm looking to import one of these from Japan as a family bus. Fact is this will be more reliable and will last a lot longer than a Range Rover or the Germans. Not a fan of the Prado Landcruiser offered in the UK. Test drove one and the D4-D engine in that is a bit underpowered if you ask me. It' the same engine Toyota uses in the Hilux.
Not underpowered for what these vehicles are built for. The new engines are a lot more powerful, but also more complicated which could result in less reliability. If you’d pay for a LC300 but you want your grandchildren to be able to drive it, buy a facelifted 200 V8.
@@baronvonjo1929 Lmao the Prado is what you get around the world and what everybody wanted. Americans only got the 200 series instead (so all the fat people could fit in). The 4Runner is American only. No one needs that cause the Prado is everywhere. Oh and everyone loves Diesel engines except for most Americans.
@stef No need for the xenophobia. I don't know if the Prado was ever offered here because we already had the 4runner. I wasn't alive when the Prado and 4runner started and how they picked the markets. Toyota picked it for us. Not us being weird or anything. I wouldn't say we got the 200 series cause we are fat. The Japanese designed it. So does that make them fat? Americans have always preferred big cars even in the 50s when we were less fat. It just the culture and preferences that have been around for decades. Also cheap gas. Speaking of which Cheap gas also made lots of diesels kinda redundant I think. Also from what I know Oldsmobile had a huge controversy in the 80s with diesels that help turn more Americans off from it from my understanding. Then VW killed it. Now it's only trucks that have ot offered.
Some of the differences between this LHD/UAE model compared to our RHD/Australian model are quite odd - such as this one having a third row, whereas ours doesn’t. Also weird that there are two other engine configurations - we only get the TTV6, which is the only engine I would consider for this car
Its always weird. For eg: They charge you for metallic paint in UAE for defender 130 but in Australia they don't. However, the there are some options that are free in Australia but Optional in UAE
Was the same with the 200 series for Dubai. Toyota offered all available engines for the 200 like Single turbo Non Intercooled 4.5 v8 diesel, twin turbo diesel 4.5 v8, n/a v6 petrol, 4.6 v8 petrol and 5.7 v8 petrol.
Was sooo hyped for the GR badge and what they would do with it. The GR86 rebrand was great and added some extra stuff to the gt86. The GR Yaris/Corolla was crazy and amazing. Then we had the supra. The GR badge was going to be something good, something you "omg i want that GR model" but now i feel like they just made the GR badge like the MBW M badge. Just slap the badge on it and hike up the price with the "hype". Disappointed
the gap in the seats is to prevent the seats from rubbing together everytime one of them is opened or closed, toyota choose to make the leather last longer over gap consistency and i respect that.
£52,000 pounds is roughly ₹5,200,000. That's how much we pay for fortuner in India, the suv version of the Hilux. Land cruiser is about ₹24,000,000 or £240,000, that's almost £190,000 more.

takes me back to my childhood. literally, every other kid at my primary school was dropped off in a black Land Cruiser ...but that was Moscow in 2003-2008.
Far more desirable than any JLR product, because it works.
What if the lever breaks?
@@oggyoggy1299 In that case, you can open it by pulling the emergency opening wire in the trunk.
That SUV is very popular with politicians in my country Kenya, many have already bought themselves that V6. Me personally I've shortlisted it now and when the economic status of my pocket will have improved. I'll go right ahead and buy it.
The same is true in Ethiopia. The land Cruiser is mostly driven by gov officials.
I really hate the fact that they got rid of the split folding rear tailgate for this generation like the 100 and 200 series both had.
unbeatable thats it...simplicity and goes forever
The fuel port opening from the cabin is nice, you won't forget it when going on a refill since you are kind of getting out of the car. Not annoying
Dubai skyline matches the Land Cruiser !!
I own a 76 series land cruiser, best machine
Big fail is no split rear tailgate. When you really us your Land Cruiser for the ‘utility’ part of the SUV, that drop down tailgate is a key feature.
Maybe in facelifted version. More expensive of course

Mat, out of context here, I never expect you to listen to the Tifo Podcast there. A man of culture indeed.
The best 4WD ever built
Best SUV ever!
Damn mat looks like a Hollywood actor with those glasses
I don't thing iv ever seen someone try and lift out the center council in a new vehicle, I love it!
Best off roader in the world, what a good quality and bullet proof engine
If you want something for the same price Mat recommends the Range Rover XD. After the monthly repair costs it will cost twice as much though. To be fair I guess if you're buying something like this repair costs aren't really concerning.
Land Cruiser GR SPORT costed $250000.
the time away from your car would be annoying though, people say that about expensive cars but forget the annoyance of it as well.
And rather paying repair bills then drive that ugly thing
Thats stupid
@@josephgittos3787 Ok if this is "ugly" than what are you doing in its video comment section?Negativity at its finest😂
Finally, fast real offroad.
Big monster Toyota.
As my little Jimny 🤣
Is not fast like a jeep grand cherokee limited Hemi.
My fuel cap release lever is on the floor next to the door sill.
you dont own a land cruiser you own an expensive 4runner
That happened to me also during my first couple months of ownership. You’ll get used to it pretty quickly
carwow, using a gac gs8, they should also review that thing. For countries whose govt. are preventing Chinese cars from entering the market due to political reasons, are missing so much. The fact that a GAC GS8 is running in the middle east is proof that that car is superbly made.
Hello! Great car! 👍🚙 Best wishes
It seems that Mat had to REALLY look into the car to find 5 annoying things. And even then that fuel cap one was a head scratcher because why in the hell would you want anyone to open the fuel cap so easily? I think that having the mechanical lever on the inside is a good security measure
He's not a big Toyota fan I take it as the have been doing that with almost all of their cars for at least 30 years or so..
Yeah it seem like he was stretching a little on some of those points lol
I'm looking to import one of these from Japan as a family bus. Fact is this will be more reliable and will last a lot longer than a Range Rover or the Germans. Not a fan of the Prado Landcruiser offered in the UK. Test drove one and the D4-D engine in that is a bit underpowered if you ask me. It' the same engine Toyota uses in the Hilux.
I like my 4runner. Idk why they made the Prado instead of just giving yall the Lexus GX or 4runner. Do they have different engines?
Not underpowered for what these vehicles are built for. The new engines are a lot more powerful, but also more complicated which could result in less reliability. If you’d pay for a LC300 but you want your grandchildren to be able to drive it, buy a facelifted 200 V8.
You know I just looked up the Prado and I just got even more confused on what's going on with the Prado, GX, and 4runner.
Speaking of which
Cheap gas also made lots of diesels kinda redundant I think.
However, the there are some options that are free in Australia but Optional in UAE
they offer N/A engine in UAE because buyers there like to throw massive aftermarket kits on them for dune hill racing
If you buy a naturally aspirated LC, it might be thirsty but it will stay with you till the end of time.

They did that to prevent people from draining your fuel while parked. Its a very common thing here in Mozambique in the rural areas

I hope these old school SUVs never go out of production.
i just love how old school the new land cruiser is. brand new yet old school!
Anything GR by Toyota is fantastic.
11:54 Oh Look The rare Classic FJ Cruiser
the gap in the seats is to prevent the seats from rubbing together everytime one of them is opened or closed, toyota choose to make the leather last longer over gap consistency and i respect that.
£52,000 pounds is roughly ₹5,200,000. That's how much we pay for fortuner in India, the suv version of the Hilux. Land cruiser is about ₹24,000,000 or £240,000, that's almost £190,000 more.
Since you did a gr land cruiser you should do a patrol nismo
I actually thought it had bull bars on the front from the thumb, but it turns out it was just headlight mascara lol. Would love to have one of these for the coming apocalypse.
Physical switches, knobs, dials, is just so much superior than all digital/on the screen...
In places like Dubai, the drivers don’t put the gas in, so the fuel cover thing is not a problem
