Your artwork is lovely, especially in the moleskin sketchbook! Your voice is so soothing, and you use your hands beautifully and gracefully! Your videos are inspiring me to paint and sketch every day!
Wow! A new to the art thing. I have binged n a lot of your videos after discovering ing you today, and am learning so much about things. Used to be into stationery , as a writer, and now I'm getting into art supplies. Love your channel - and your art work is fantastic, whether on great paper or not! Thank you for sharing it with us. Going to hunt for some in depth tour of individual books of yours now...
When I started to play with watercolor in early 2020 during pandemic, I was buying a lot of cheaper/ middle range sketchbooks, blocks etc. I also started creating my own sketchbooks with some papers from the blocks so I won't get bored with the sketchbooks I was working with, some of them have so many pages, it really takes a long time to finish at least for an amateur painter like me. Slowly I understood that actually I am wasting money by buying so many non-100% cotton sketchbooks/ blocks etc. This year I have strictly stopped buying, and I made a resolution that I will use up all my non-100% cotton stash with Gouache or mixed media. Currently I have 11 sketchbooks/blocks open, but some of those sketchbooks are handmade by me with some of the papers from those open blocks. Some of them are only few pages short from done. I have not and will not start a new one until I finish all the open ones. Phew. That's out in the open now! And thank you for making this video. ❤❤
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing! I know lots of people will find your experience helpful to know!! I had a similar experience only that it took me a loooot longer to come to the realisation that I prefer 100% cotton watercolour paper 😂 nonetheless, like you, I look forward to using my sketchbooks for mixed media and making my way through my in progress sketchbooks x x
My comfort zone is nature mostly trees I find myself continuously stopping and taking photos of them, sketching them and water colouring them. But when my peonies are in bloom around the end of June, that's what I will always be painting!!! Thank you for sharing your sketchbook. It is just gorgeous I never thought of painting the fabric cover.
I loved this informative video ❤I have 4 sketchbooks and I'm trying my best to sjetch more in them. Your artwork is beautiful enjoy your sketchbooks sketching is goid for our health 😊
Well this made me feel better about my own ever-growing "collection" of sketchbooks...watercolor paper is expensive so I seldom pass up sales. Agree with your reviews; I love the Moleskine sketchbook paper for drawing but love/hate the w/c albums. Incidentally here in the US, the lovely Etchr Everyday sketchbooks have nearly doubled in price in the last year. I haven't seen the Canson with Saunders paper! The Canson Mixed Media sketchbooks withe heavy French paper are good for "low pressure" play. Your bright and cheerful work is lovely! Loved the accordion sketchbook, the pen and ink + w/c and all of the florals-done by so many but yours stand out. I'm hoping that you have done a video on your use of Pitt Artist pens + w/color. I have many Pitt pens but seldom use them. Looking forward to exploring more of your videos
LOLLL!!! When you said "I have so many more than I thought!" right after I saw the pile and thought "I wish I could be a minimalist like her!" 🤣🤣☺ Hey, it's all a matter of perspective!
After using purely spiral bound books for art in school that were so badly made that we had to stitch the binding so the spirals wouldn’t come loose, I fully agree with your preference for stitch bound sketchbooks 😂 even my personal sketchbooks from as far back as I can remember were spiral bound cause my mom said they were good. Now I regret it because they are all falling apart💀
I felt so bad for having 3 sketchbooks on the go at the moment with two of them not even half way but this video made me feel seen and understood🥺❤️I’m not the only one who can’t stick to one sketchbook at a time🥹❤️
OMG 104. I am not alone. Yay!!!....Now, I can't wait to get those new handmade watercolors journal and moleskine watercolor sketchbooks of various sizes to add to my collection. I looking forward to listening to the rest of the video, while I grade my students artwork.
Your soooo inspiring.I just got a new 80 page sketchbook, and immediately when i searched up 'sketchbook ideas' you immediately popped up first thank you soooo much!!!!😁😁
Thank you so much for watching and your super kind words! I am so glad that you found my channel and enjoyed the video! I hope that it was a good source of ideas for your new sketchbook! Happy creating x x
I bought Saunders Waterford, also A5 (cost me 25e, btw), but in a landscape format, and instead of attached label sheet like on yours, it had a sleeve with a label, so I guess it serves as protection. And I can confirm the paper is a real deal)) I had to buy it on a vacation, `cause it was so pretty haha.. Otherwise I have moleskine and art creation`s and others, but I prefer making my own, so I`ve surely got over 30 )) TFS!
These wide range, comprehensive supply review videos are my absolute favorite! Thank you for taking the time to create this! Added a couple of sketchbooks to my list, but also took some off too. 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful creations! It’s always so cool to see how artist’s work evolve. I absolutely love your work! Thank you for inspiring me and for bringing us joy!! 🥰 I also am so impressed and happy for you to go on your travels and immersing yourself in the art community! Way to go!! ❤
I have three small and one square Stillman & Birn watercolor sketchbooks, which I enjoy. I also have two mixed media Strathmore 500 series softcover and one Strathmore large hardcover watercolor. I love the mixed media sketchbook with its softcover and the way the paper handles for watercolor in its many forms. I also have several Hahnemuhle watercolor sketchbooks and pads. These three are my favorite brands for now, and I have about two dozen sketchbooks, blocks and pads. Still growing my collection. ;)
Thank you so much for going through your sketchbooks! It is really helpful to lear how you feel about all the different papers and designs! Aand to see all your gorgeous work!💜💜💜
This was fun to watch. (Ihave to watch long videos over several days.) Wow! That's a lot of sketchbooks!! 😂 I have to wonder why we insist on finishing a sketchbook/pad/block when we hate the paper. 🤔 The money spent is gone, and life is too short to be miserable. 😄 I've only abandoned one. A moleskine sketchbook, but I plan to abandon two more thin ones. Well, here are my stats: 9 completed sketchbooks, 4 pads/blocks in progress, 12 sketchbooks in progress (not happy about this), 1 pad not started, and 1 sketchbook not started. Total: 27. 😮 I'm trying to use three at a time: one for plein air, one for "real" paintings, and one not precious one for fun and experimenting.
Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment Susan! I am glad that you enjoyed it :D I think it is one of my longest edited videos to date lol That is a very good point about using sketchbooks that we don't enjoy lol I don't know why we feel compelled to do so lol or at the very least find a way to make it enjoyable - I guess it feels wasteful otherwise lol good food for thought! Your system of 3 at a time makes sense! And is what I would aim for too lol somehow it has expanded to a lot more sketchbooks in each category xx
I have 8 that I'd like to complete this year! two moleskine, 2 stillman & birn, one Windsor and newton, one clairefontaine, one hanemule 100% cotton and one no-name Kmart lol Thanks for this wonderful video!
You asked how many sketchbooks you have, I thought maybe 35, but then I said, wait how many sketchbooks do I have? So I counted them. I was shocked to count 106 sketchbooks. After realizing, I have 106 sketchbooks and the fact that I have about 10 more in my online shopping carts right now. I decided I should guess you have at least 100 as well. I am going to watch the rest of the video now. I hope I am not the only one that hoards art supplies, in this case sketchbooks. Please tell me you have over 100.
I prefer watercolor and mixed media sketchbooks/ art journals. Some of my favorites are Etchr, Dina Wakley, Dylusions, Strathmore, Jane Davenport, Moleskine, and Handmade Watercolor Journals from various companies. It will take me some time before I will be able to narrow down that list. I like each one for different reasons. However I have decided after I use up my spiral sketchbooks, I will not buy them again. So we agree on that. You had a lot of sketchbooks I have never seen in America. Therefore my collection is quite different than yours. Perhaps one day I might do a similar video. Thanks for the inspiration. I found it to be very informative while working on other task.
For the cases when you struggle with florals, there's many coloring books that are about 7 pound and have all kind of floral designs that you could transfer some and paint or just find a flower photo. Wow .... 114 sketchbooks 👀👀Thank you for the review, pretty hair lady 😊😊
I think you have 10 on the go, I really like the etchr everyday sketchbook I love your pieces you’ve done in those and tbh all the other books, even just your messing around pieces of work I enjoyed seeing.
Thank you so much Franny 💛💛💛 your estimate was close to my estimate 😂 but I have more on the go. Once I got past the shock of it, I actually got excited about all the art I can now create completely freely… because I have lotssss of paper to get through x
After watching your video, I now have two more on the way. I just ordered the Etchr signature books. I have the others already. Your video reminded me they just uploaded a new version, because it was sold out in 2021, and 2022 when I tried to buy them before. Therefore I now have 108. I am still planning to buy those handmade journals and moleskine watercolor journals in my shopping carts. But I think after those. I will stop buying sketchbooks/journals for several years. I need to use these up first.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing! I hope that you enjoy all your sketchbooks. I love the Etchr signature Series Cold pressed 😍 and I hope you do too. With the moleskines, the watercolour paper can be temperamental/ last a little bit less, so I’d recommend leaving it in the plastic until you’re ready to use it just in case. That sketchbook and I have a love hate relationship xx
I love love love your colorful paintings 😍😍 Thanks for sharing your experience with sketchbooks 😊 Do you mind sharing, which gold you use in your florals? 😊
Thank you so mcuh Sandra! That is so kind of you :D Of course, it is the Etchr watercolour (Royal Gold I believe): 🎨 Etchr Golden Watercolours: bit.ly/3UMQwaI
I am looking around my room and i have about 20+ sketchbooks/watercolor blocks with another 8 completed and then another 20 soft pastel paper and colored pencil sketchbooks/pads. I love Etchr sketchbooks and Fabriano watercolor blocks, so HAD to order the Etchr signature sketchbook while watching this video ha. My casual sketching friend is my Fabriano Fat Pad (and have a Khadi Fat Pad on its way) for swatching and color mixing testing. ;). Thanks for the thorough tour!
I really loved this video, thank you for sharing. It must have been so much work! I'm not brave enough to count my sketchbooks, but it made me feel better knowing that you have a lot too 😅 I have quite a few in progress that I started and disliked the paper. I'm not sure what to do with these, because I don't want to torture myself by painting in them 😅 Moleskine Watercolour is definitely among those that don't play well with watercolor, in my opinion. My current favorite is Hahnemühle 100% cotton ☺
Thanks for watching and sharing Snow! 😂😂😂 I know the feeling of having sketchbooks you don’t like and completely agree we shouldn’t torture ourselves. I’m trying to figure out ways to repurpose them… Gouache /acrylic more times than not will work in them well; or collage if youre into it. Or gifting/selling them if many pages aren’t used, as some people will like the paper, even if we don’t x
I'm a multi multi multi sketchbook painter/sketcher. I don't want to be any other way lol. But I bought a more-than-usual amount in my first year of watching you tube artists recommendations. I don't regret it. I like my variety. And when one is drying I jump to another. I shouldn't need more for s long time... and yet... lol. I know I will buy more. I don't even count them. But I think I have at least a dozen or more on the go currently. All sizes. All mediums. All my moods 😅. I love A3 Moleskine and another cheaper one. I love the Art creations both sizes. I use a watercolor/gouache Pentalic journal ( James Gurney uses). Stillman and burn series, one etchr-- but I'd love the perfect sketchbook-- I always stop up at the $$$ I just have a ton. Then I love some thin sketchbooks for brainstorming and ideas.
Hi To answer your questions: I do have over 20 Sketchbooks. Mostly Fabriano related ones.Rather by the brand itself or other manufacturers using Fabriano paper. I would say my favorite sketchbook has to be the Fabriano Vergatone sketchbook. I just adore it. It does take most mediums except Oil paints, obviously. Now I do not use hard pencils in them because it would tare the paper but soft ones YES. Hope you get to use them someday. I think you’d love it or at least appreciate it.
After watching this video, I had to count my sketchbooks. I have finished 12 this year so far and have 6 ongoing and about 20 to start. Adding other blocks/pads and finished sketchbooks, I got to 60
i love your paintings! i am relatively new at this, I never would have taught the sizing could go bad, its paper not food! lol i better get to painting more! i have 3 ongoing sketchbooks, almost done, and 4 untouched i bought on special. i also have 6 quality paper pads, plus a huge pad of cellulose i got for cheap that i dont mind wasting when i just want to throw paint on paper mindlessly! love ya, keep on the great vids and paintings! oh and i love your domes, me its doors, hahaha!
Thank you so much for watching and your sweet message Dominique! It normally takes a few years for the paper to go bad if it’s stored well and in plastic etc, if it’s out of plastic/in humidity/a place that fluctuates in temperate e.g. a garage then faster. 😂 I was surprised too when I found out but it helped me paint more 😂😂😂
Good to hear that the Etcher Perfect sketchbooks are nicer. I have one of the Everyday and it really doesn't have nice paper. It's lighter weight and just doesn't work well. I was really disappointed.
Thank you for watching! in honesty, I love both papers - but prefer the signature series as the paper is thicker and nicer (Fabriano artistico) 100% cotton watercolour paper xx
The every day sketchbook coldpress definitely does well with fountain pen and ink in general I’m going to have to count my sketchbooks and report back. I can tell you I have a whole cabinet full with one shelf of in use and one finished.😅
@@SketchesnScrubs well it wasn't as many as I thought. I have 40 not including paper pads or blocks. About 16 aren't finished but I'm only actively working on about 7 of those. I always have a good sketchbook (usually etchr everyday) and a less precious one. I like a few different ones but I usually want them to have more paper and typically non cotton. Like Stillman and birn gamma or alpha or the travelogue sketchbooks (not the watercolor one but the regular one that comes in multiple colors muuuuch better for quick washes imo I hate the one intended for WC) Sometimes I splurge on my low pressure sketchbook and get the Strathmore mixed media sketchbook softcover 7.75x9.75... there's just something special about it. I feel like I can do anything I need to but I also feel the freedom to be loose. Report over 😂
Oh wow that’s a lot of sketchbooks, pads, & blocks of paper. I seriously thought you would have only 25 total 😂. Also I seriously thought that I only had about 12 total but I checked & I’m shocked 😳 to say that I have 30!! Mine are mostly wire bound Canson XL Watercolor or Mixed Media Journals that I began with as they were cheap & easy to find locally. All but 3 of those are completely finished. I have a huge collection of Strathmore Journals & pads for watercolor, mixed media, charcoal, tone papers, & graphite sketching most are finished or started. Only one Strathmore 400 Series (Soft Cover)A5 Landscape sketchbook is not started. I have one small Paul Rubens Hot Press watercolor A6 journal started, 2 pads of Hahnemuhle watercolor blocks not started, & my first block of Arches Cold Press Watercolor Block not started. I just recently started with my favorite the Etchr A4 Perfect Sketchbook Landscape. Etchr Perfect A4, Strathmore 400 Series Hardcover Watercolor Sketchbook, & my Speedball Handbook A5 Watercolor Landscape Sketchbook are my favorites.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing Colleen! It’s so easy to lose track 😂 and my estimate was half of what I actually had just like you! 😂😂 good luck on your creative adventure! Thank you for sharing your favourites 💛💛💛
Thank you for sharing Jess! They are easily accessible through Jackson’s Art too 💛 (Should you buy from Jackson’s next time and use my link in the description and the code SCRUBS10 , you’ll get 10% off your whole order - even sale items) xx
Loving the sketchbook review and opinion. I have a few ongoing sketchbooks mainly the royal Talens ones - I’d love to try Etchr ones but I think I’d have to wrap them in blankets and just gaze at them 😅
Ah ha! Now I’ve been after those sketchbooks (the Canson art books with Saunders Waterford paper) canton is french and yet Amazon has them as over €20 which is out of my budget. I’m not keen on spiral bound either because they don’t fit in bags so well. I’m liking Khadi but I’ve not gotten to use it too often at the moment. Such a fun video 😆
I have 17 sketchbooks and about 60/70% are discounted, cheap dummybooks for quick sketching. I have maybe 3 or 4 high quality ones so it's about time to invest in some really higher quality ones. I actually sketch in all of them which also results in mucking up drawings because the paper isn't good enough. They're good enough for inktober at the moment though, I don't use the expensive books for that. I'm at the beginning of your video still while typing this; I'm very interested in what higher quality books to get.
15 sketchbooks I have filled. 40ish sketchbooks are partially filled. Haven't even included pads...😮 My very favorites are handmade with Arches cold press by @artsirosi. I'm also loving playing with Ranger Dylusions sketchbooks in a couple of sizes, mainly for mixed media. Thanks for sharing your collection!
Woah! 104 Ok that is a lot! *Looks at my unused notebooks and what not… Yeah no I’m not counting those 😂* but if you consider notebooks, writing pads, plus my sketchbooks and watercolor blocks etc… Yeah pretty sure I have hit the 3 digits. Yup I definitely can’t judge you 😂. I just don’t have that many in active service though! Like I only have 4 proper sketchbooks/watercolor books in use. (Ok 5, I have one from a long time ago, where is that even?) And another two not so sketchbook books that I sort of started using for art, but may repurpose as scrapbooks/journals instead… Not sure. Woah that’s a lot of in progress sketchbooks you have! 😂 I do have quite a few notebooks (not sketchbooks) that I used a bit of and haven’t finished. Most of them are buried though - the last time I used them were over a year ago, before my ‘terrible year’… So I can’t count ‘em if I don’t know where they are 😂 This is a long video and I’m tired… Guess I’ll continue watching tmr while I set up a dry gouache palette (yes I have fallen down a new rabbit hole…) 🫣🫢
It depends on how the paper is stored and where / humidity and the paper itself. I think it’s usually anything from 2 years onwards. Lindsay the frugal crafter shared a video called “sizing matters “ where she talks through it xx
Hmmm 🤔 how many sketchbooks do I have? Well…… completed ones are stored (dumped) in my cupboard because there’s too many to store nicely….. I’ve got to invest at some point in archival garage storage boxes I think I’d say 80+ being conservative- Ongoing sketchbooks are at about 5 - 3 of which won’t be purchased again (Strathmore visual journal , Artway indigo ones and the Fabriano art books, I used to adore them but the paper quality has changed and I don’t like them now which is strange because I usually adore Fabriano anything. I’m currently using royal Talens art creation sketchbook in A5 and I’m mainly using gouache with mixed media in it. 😊
OMG I'm even worse than I thought!🤣🤣🤣🤣 My sketchbooks are more than your 104, but I thought you were counting ONLY sketchbooks! LMAO, if I were to count every pad, block, etc.........yikes🤣🤣🤣
Oh my goodness 🤣 I dislike Arteza sketchbook too and I spent over €30 on them a couple years back. They did not inspire or encourage my artwork. The texture was a big problem because it’s not authentic hot cold pressed anything, hardly any medium wanted to stay in mine. I like the look of them but not the paper or price.
Lool I'm in the same boat, alas I guess not everything is for everyone. They seemed so popular at the time that I bought a multipack but the arteza sketchbooks aren't my cup of tea x
@@SketchesnScrubshaha I laughed at how confident I was with my answer 😂 as always you surprise me with how much you go in depth when it comes to your reviews, I'll keep your video in mind when I'm looking for new sketchbooks to try 😊 Speaking about Arteza I bought it to try it with ink for inktober and didn't enjoy the feeling of it at all, so I kept it for swatching. I swatched a few brands and when I tried to swatch qor the paper could not handle it at all the paint went all the way through the next page, and thought ok the sizing finally went bad. But when I tried different paint it was ok not as horribly bad as qor. I'm just mentioning it because it made me realize not all paper can handle qor unique binder 😅
Hello beautiful .. I watch all your videos a lot usually play it in my tv when i am doing errands or on ipad as i paint or when I commut to school/work! I am not able to comment all the time but i love all your videos! thanks for sharing your beautiful sketchbooks and the stories behind them! You inspired me to share my unfinished sketchbook as well😅 I will do a video on my small youtube channel ( I am very new to Art TH-cam I just started doing videos last August). I just want you to know how inspiring are! Hugs from Sweden🇸🇪 and hoping to be art sisters! 👩🏻🎨𝕩𝕠𝕩𝕠, Elizabeth ✩ ᡶꫝꫀ ᠻỉꫀꪹᨶꫀ ꪖꪹᡶ ✩
Great minds think alike, I normally think of it roughly but this is the second time that I've properly worked it out and compared ...helps put things into perspective x x
@@SketchesnScrubs Actually, I did not describe it accurately. I usually buy sheets of paper as it is cheaper. When I am comparing sheets to sketchbooks, I would count the number of pages in the book and and mentally divide a sheet into sizes that are similar to the the size of the sketchbook. I then calculate the number of full sheets needed to get to get the number of pages in the notebook. I can then compare the price of the sheets to the one notebook and decide which one is cheaper and which one is more value for money. It sounds complicated but it’s actually simple since I mostly use sketchbooks that are about 15x19 cm, which is about 1/16 of a sheet.
If it’s any consolation 👀🙂😂🥲😅🤣 it’s 75 sketchbooks, with 29 watercolour blocks / sketch pads 💛 I just knew that if I excluded them, I’d appreciate i had 5 and convince myself I could get more 😂🥲
I know Artesia doesn't care because I'm not an influencer but yes I paid for Artesia because I got told they were great company and they had good paper and sketchbooks but my sketchbook fell apart and all I did was open it up.
Your artwork is lovely, especially in the moleskin sketchbook! Your voice is so soothing, and you use your hands beautifully and gracefully! Your videos are inspiring me to paint and sketch every day!
Love what you made in de zigzag book ❤️

Thank you so much for watching and the encouragement Renee! xx

Thank you for watching and sharing Paula! I love hearing what you enjoy using! Happy creating x x
I love all the sketchbook floozies inspired by Lindsay ❤️❤️🤣🤣 . I enjoyed Becky’s. Will watch Miranda after yours.Your sketches are just 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much Marlbboro! XD XD Lool Lindsay certainly inspires lots of us! Hope you enjoyed the video and you are well xx
Thank you so much for going through your sketchbooks! It is really helpful to lear how you feel about all the different papers and designs! Aand to see all your gorgeous work!💜💜💜
You are so welcome Melissa!! 💜💜💜 I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I had so much fun making it and going through it 💜
This was so much fun
I am glad that you enjoyed it :D I think it is one of my longest edited videos to date lol
That is a very good point about using sketchbooks that we don't enjoy lol I don't know why we feel compelled to do so lol or at the very least find a way to make it enjoyable - I guess it feels wasteful otherwise lol good food for thought! Your system of 3 at a time makes sense! And is what I would aim for too lol somehow it has expanded to a lot more sketchbooks in each category xx
I have 8 that I'd like to complete this year! two moleskine, 2 stillman & birn, one Windsor and newton, one clairefontaine, one hanemule 100% cotton and one no-name Kmart lol
Thanks for this wonderful video!
Thank you for watching Lee! I hope the quest to complete the 8 sketchbooks is going well! xx
You are in great company 😂😂😂 I have more than 100 😂 and as you can see, my initial estimate of how many I had was a lot lower lol
I really like this review! You are very thorough with explaining the quality of paper within different sketchbooks... Well Done !😊❤️
Thank you so much Val! I’m soo glad it was helpful 💛💛💛
Your Kew Gardens accordion sketchbook is my favourite of yours 😍
Awww thank you Rebecca xx
Thank you so much for sharing! There are some new names/sketchbooks in your list that I’ll check out 💛💛💛
i love sketchbook tours and this is taking it to the extreme, i love it ❤❤
😂😂😂 thank you Chantelle! 💛
I adore the splashes of gold!🥰
Thank you Melissa!
For the cases when you struggle with florals, there's many coloring books that are about 7 pound and have all kind of floral designs that you could transfer some and paint or just find a flower photo. Wow .... 114 sketchbooks 👀👀Thank you for the review, pretty hair lady 😊😊
Thanks for the tip John! 💛
Love the lavender art creations!
You feel like a virtual pen pal, I love it x
I love love love your colorful paintings 😍😍
Thanks for sharing your experience with sketchbooks 😊
Do you mind sharing, which gold you use in your florals?
😂😂😂😂 as I type, I can confirm I’ve been telling myself I don’t need more Khadi sketchbooks over and over, the love of sketchbooks is so strong 😂
Hmmmm I’m not happy about the Etchr 2023 having even less pages! I steer towards sketchbooks with lots and lots of pages 😍
😂😂😂 I think I need a balance, I used to want as many pages as possible but I’m struggling with the Sakura for that very reason lol x
I am entirely too afraid to count mine. Especially as I'm hunting for yet more. 😂😂😂
I can completely relate! Loool I was very much intimidated to count and have an actual number lol as opposed to my wildly inaccurate guesses 😂
Do you have a favourite?
Starting #44 as I watch! I tend to only have one on the go at a time
44! That’s amazing!!
😂😂😂me and you both Lulabelle! P.S. thank you for joining the livestream 💛💛
Hi
To answer your questions: I do have over 20 Sketchbooks.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi 👋 I have too many sketchbooks on the go, but i like them…. Thx for your video.
Ditto Samantha 😂💛 thanks for watching x
After watching this video, I had to count my sketchbooks. I have finished 12 this year so far and have 6 ongoing and about 20 to start. Adding other blocks/pads and finished sketchbooks, I got to 60
Thanks for watching and good luck with the sketchbooks xx
Subscribed. You’re such a joy to listen to
Awww! Thank you so much! 💛💛
i love your paintings! i am relatively new at this, I never would have taught the sizing could go bad, its paper not food! lol i better get to painting more!
i have 3 ongoing sketchbooks, almost done, and 4 untouched i bought on special. i also have 6 quality paper pads, plus a huge pad of cellulose i got for cheap that i dont mind wasting when i just want to throw paint on paper mindlessly!
love ya, keep on the great vids and paintings! oh and i love your domes, me its doors, hahaha!
The every day sketchbook coldpress definitely does well with fountain pen and ink in general
I’m going to have to count my sketchbooks and report back. I can tell you I have a whole cabinet full with one shelf of in use and one finished.😅
I await your report Kathy 😂😂💛💛
Report over 😂
I actually like your portraits. The Kew Garden sketch is also pretty.
Awww! Thank you ! x x
I got to get myself some sketchbooks
@@SketchesnScrubs Always a pleasure watching & chatting with you! Enjoy your day!!🥰🫶🏻
I have 5. Sarah Burns got me hooked on Stillman & Birn sketchbooks 🙃🙃🙃 The company is based in the US so I don’t know about international shipping.
Thank you for sharing Jess! They are easily accessible through Jackson’s Art too 💛
(Should you buy from Jackson’s next time and use my link in the description and the code SCRUBS10 , you’ll get 10% off your whole order - even sale items) xx
Loving the sketchbook review and opinion.
I have a few ongoing sketchbooks mainly the royal Talens ones - I’d love to try Etchr ones but I think I’d have to wrap them in blankets and just gaze at them 😅
Such a fun video to watch. Great information and very thorough.
Thanks so much Miranda! I really enjoyed yours too 💛💛
Your loose florals are lovely
Thank you so much! 😄😄
Thank you Rebecca 💛💛💛
I have 17 sketchbooks and about 60/70% are discounted, cheap dummybooks for quick sketching. I have maybe 3 or 4 high quality ones so it's about time to invest in some really higher quality ones. I actually sketch in all of them which also results in mucking up drawings because the paper isn't good enough. They're good enough for inktober at the moment though, I don't use the expensive books for that. I'm at the beginning of your video still while typing this; I'm very interested in what higher quality books to get.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing Chris! I hope you enjoyed the video 💛
That's amazing Laura! I will have to check Artsirosi & Ranger Dylusions out too ....once I've made a dent in my collection lol x
Most of them are buried though - the last time I used them were over a year ago, before my ‘terrible year’… So I can’t count ‘em if I don’t know where they are 😂
This is a long video and I’m tired… Guess I’ll continue watching tmr while I set up a dry gouache palette (yes I have fallen down a new rabbit hole…) 🫣🫢
Humble beginnings? Those are some beautiful art in your first sketchbook!
Awww thank you so much Messy Desk :D and thank you for watching! Loool I was suprised by the number too! Counting them definitely lead to a surprise x
Crap, you were right. I should have double the number and even so I was not even close lol.
😂😂😂😂 if it’s any consolation, it’s 75 sketchbooks lol and 104 with everything else 😅😅 2.5x your estimate lol
Thanks for watching x
how long is the sizing good for? What does it do when it goes bad?
It depends on how the paper is stored and where / humidity and the paper itself. I think it’s usually anything from 2 years onwards. Lindsay the frugal crafter shared a video called “sizing matters “ where she talks through it xx
perhaps ASHA (I think I got that right?) club introductions should require people to announce how many empty/unused supplies they own 🤣🤣
You have got that right indeed loool it'd be a fun right of passage lol xx
11:32 really nice paintings 👍🏼😃
Thank you so much awatercolourist! 😀
@@SketchesnScrubs Welcome! I like their vibrant tonal jumps and the contrast.
Very interesting your conversation
Hmmm 🤔 how many sketchbooks do I have?
Well…… completed ones are stored (dumped) in my cupboard because there’s too many to store nicely….. I’ve got to invest at some point in archival garage storage boxes I think I’d say 80+ being conservative-
Ongoing sketchbooks are at about 5 - 3 of which won’t be purchased again (Strathmore visual journal , Artway indigo ones and the Fabriano art books, I used to adore them but the paper quality has changed and I don’t like them now which is strange because I usually adore Fabriano anything.
I’m currently using royal Talens art creation sketchbook in A5 and I’m mainly using gouache with mixed media in it. 😊
That is incredible!!I'm amazed that you've filled so many sketchbooks! It sounds like a treasure trove. Thank you for sharing Rebecca x
I've had the same issue with brand new Moleskines.. really disappointing. :c
I agree! I don't know why it was sooo bad, but that certainly motivated me to look elsewhere x x
104!! I was going to guess like 30. I was way off.😂😂
😂😂😂😂 don’t worry, my guess was way off too, at least I have lots of paper to keep me going a few years 😂😅
@@SketchesnScrubs Better to have more than not enough! Lol
@@mbh0422 my thoughts exactly Mary Beth 😂
OMG I'm even worse than I thought!🤣🤣🤣🤣 My sketchbooks are more than your 104, but I thought you were counting ONLY sketchbooks! LMAO, if I were to count every pad, block, etc.........yikes🤣🤣🤣
Looool Amy! It makes me feel a bit better to know I am not alone :P At least we have plenty of paper to create on ! No holding us back now ! xx
@2:35 guessing 58!
😂😂😂 a bit more 😅😅
Oh my goodness 🤣 I dislike Arteza sketchbook too and I spent over €30 on them a couple years back.
Forgot to ask you how long your Jackson art supplies discount code is lasting for? 😍
I’m not sure how long the discount code will last for 😅 and it’s one use only xx
@@SketchesnScrubs i just used it like 2days ago and saved myself £7 😍👍🤩
I’m glad!! ❤
I was going to say 29 😂💔 I haven't watched the rest of the video yet but Im sure it's going to be very helpful 🥰
😂😂😂 more than 29 lol! I hope that you enjoy the video 😂💛
@@SketchesnScrubshaha I laughed at how confident I was with my answer 😂 as always you surprise me with how much you go in depth when it comes to your reviews, I'll keep your video in mind when I'm looking for new sketchbooks to try 😊
Speaking about Arteza I bought it to try it with ink for inktober and didn't enjoy the feeling of it at all, so I kept it for swatching.
@@E4Alabbasy Ohh! That is interesting! Thank you for letting us know x x
sketchbook quality is such a mixed bag.. I agree with you.. I do not like the spiral bindings and I also do not like the ones with perforated pages.
I agree! Thank you for watching and sharing xx

I actually calculate how much sheets and sketchbooks cost per page. It’s one of the ways of knowing how the prices compare.

😂😂 your guess on mine? Or how many you have? Xx
104 sketchbook!!! 😳
If it’s any consolation 👀🙂😂🥲😅🤣 it’s 75 sketchbooks, with 29 watercolour blocks / sketch pads 💛
I just knew that if I excluded them, I’d appreciate i had 5 and convince myself I could get more 😂🥲
