I loved watching your progress over 4 years! It made me have hope for myself, tbh, lol. I've only been painting for 2 months. What I think is so funny about painting, is that the pieces that you think - this is CRAP, and you want to almost throw in the bin are the ones that turn out to be someone else's favorite piece! It's all in the perspective, I think, and my favorite of the piece that you showed was your London piece. It reminded me of London the second that I saw it, and I just think the colors and the components are so fantastic. Thank you so much for bringing us on your journey.
Thank you, loved seeing how your art has changed in 4 years. Its good to keep older pieces to look back on and see how you have improved (hopefully!) 😊
Just gorgeous! Your improvement is astounding and I love seeing growth like this when looking back through sketchbooks. Way to go and you are a wonderful artist! 🙂
Hello - I just came across your channel and I am so glad. Your sketch book is just so organic and lovely, you should be so proud. Our Lord has truly blessed you with not just one calling (Doctor) but as an artist. That is such a blessing. Thank you for sharing your story and creativity with us. Have a blessed weekend.
I have finished one more organic sketchbook, where I would just work in it whenever I could, but I have finished several sketchbooks during challenges such as Inktober. Such a good feeling to complete an entire sketchbook/artbook!
I absolutely love that pink boat painting! I don't remember seeing this one before. It's somewhat ambiguous whether the boat is on a dark beach beside golden water, or in dark water beside a golden beach. That, plus the moon and stars in the red-orange sky, gives it the feeling of a half-remembered dream. ✨
It’s so cool to see the changes! I’m glad you just decided to use the sketchbook. Psalm 19 is one of my two favorites in the Bible. I may need to create some inspired art myself. 🥰
Wow this is testimony of you ‘coming of age’ in your abilities and your pay off with discovering high end materials and why they matter. Love the scriptures too. It’s good that you’ve embraced what you loved about your early works as most people don’t.
Nice review of the sketchbook, the watercolor paper makes the colors look a lot better than ordinary cellulose . There's many paintings to be inspired from, pretty hair lady😊😊
Thanks so much for your videos. I am very much a beginner leaning to paint with watercolor, gouache, and pretty much any media. Seeing the timed studies you did, as well as the one with you eyes closed, was very interesting. I am going to try those studies because I tend to overthink when I am painting. When I am just "doodling", I am more relaxed doing it and consequently it looks better. I have two sketchbooks I just started but none completed. Thanks again!
You are more than welcome Pam! Thank you for your lovely message and welcome to the wonderful world of watercolour and mixed media ❤️❤️❤️ I hope that you enjoy the time studies! I can completely relate, there’s something about relaxing that often improves the outcome ❤️
I love seeing your art journey. It’s wonderful that you started painting from life early on - that can be so intimidating. Love the post it - ‘one day or day one”! That is a very positive shift in perspective! I love that you use scripture in your work. Ooo - the ink peony drawing is jaw dropping! Wow!! - I love that piece. I love seeing your early journeys into loose florals and then seeing your inked florals which are also lovely (Sept 2020). I love that piece you did with the Himi gouache of the gold and blue building. Love your gouache landscapes! Your painting of the light in the forest is so beautiful. Your experimentation and time studies are very creative and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. 😊 I have 1 Moleskine sketchbook but I didn’t enjoy using it for watercolor. I hope your Moleskine sketchbooks are ok and the sizing remains intact. Oh gosh - I don’t know that I’ve actually gone through and completed a full sketchbook- that’s so embarrassing to admit. But this year, I am working through my Khadi Fatbook and with all the encouragement and inspiration that comes with being a member of your Ko-fi, that will likely change and I’ll be able to say I finished a sketchbook this year!
Loved seeing how your work has changed over the years, so nice to have a little history in a single sketchbook Iike that! You have some beautiful pieces in that book!! I have a Moleskine sketchbook that I bought about 2 years ago and haven’t taken it out of the plastic. It’s one of many that I really need to open and use. I just have SO many sketchbooks on the go already. I have already determined that I’ll use it for gouache and sketching, rather than watercolour. I think I’ve only finished 3 (maybe 4?) sketchbooks (A5 & A6 sizes).
Your style & mine is very similar. I also have an issue at times with trying to decide whether to use ink or not... Whether to start with ink, then wash, ink after watercolor, etc. I'm quite good at drawing, but I LOVE to paint even though I'm sometimes not as "fluid" as I'd like to be. I love your videos! I love how you bring up that it's okay not to stick to one medium for a certain subject.
Thank you so much SMB! I am glad you enjoyed it & I hope that you enjoy the little positive notes in your sketchbooks :D I find them to be a treat to create but also to look back on x
I really love your art styles and always enjoy watching you create things, but this was very fun to see your journey over a few years at once. It makes me consider how far (or sometimes not) that I have grown over my years of inking and painting. To your question about finishing a sketchbook…yes and no. I have filled many sketchbooks over the years, but no matter how hard I tried to protect some of them my daughter always eventually found them and left 1/4-1/2 a book full of surprises for me. Haha! At first I was upset about it, but then I realized she was going through her own art journey and I love looking back through those books now to see what she added for my viewing pleasure. 😂
I just finished my first sketchbook on leap day! I started it in fall of 2019 and finished at the end of February 2024, over 5 years to finish it! I’m thinking I want to make a TH-cam video about, my first one. But I don’t know.
That would be an awesome video Apache! I also started my channel with a sketchbook tour :) Thank you for watching and good luck with whatever you decide! xx
Which Domestika course did you watch for the thumbnails? This was a gorgeous sketchbook tour and watching your progress was phenomenal. I hope to be painting like you one day. The fire house brings back great memories. Thank you for sharing. Keep creating 💙💜💛
😂😂😂 I will love that painting forever 😂😂😂 ahhh, I wish I could remember which course it was! I thinkkkk it was Artistic Floral Course by Inga: bit.ly/3HTCzDz but I don’t have access to it anymore. Fronwhat I remember it wasn’t a lesson, it was a general mention on using thumbnails to work out composition and colours etc lol I did it for the banter then painted…YOUR painting ! The one from last year 💖
Hiya. Wow, do you have any doodly sketchbooks? I really enjoyed this and would love to see others. I don't tend to finish sketchbooks, as i jump around when i feel the need to use different sizes or different papers... x Nell.
Thank you so much Nell! I don’t have any specifically doodly sketchbooks lol I have one which has more doodles than others… slowly plodding along, it’s a sketchbook (no watercolour paper) and it’s probably taken 🤔🤔🤔 3 years and it’s still in progress 😂😅 I’ll do a sketchbook tour when it’s complete x
I got an A4 of this sketchbook once on a sale and the sizing was horrible. It put me off getting them ever again. Your gouache paintings are super lovely to see and also your map crunch landscapes. By the way I have finished only Bockingford fat pads so far because I love painting on them. The others I just alternate between and they spam through years until I manage to get to the end.
Hey Carol! Thank you for watching and sharing! It’s certainly been hit or miss for me 😭😭😭 which is a shame because for a long time I loved the moleskine watercolour sketchbooks. Thank you so much for your kind words 😁 and for sharing! Xx
Dear sketches, please forgive me - I have stage 4 breast cancer and as a consequence often drift in and out of sleep whilst watching videos. I love this tour of your sketchbook but will need to keep re watching for bits I missed. I’m trying to find out what gold you use, I’ve looked at a few videos and I think I’m missing it through drifting. I apologise. I am on a no buy due to budget/circumstances but make exceptions when it sparkles 😊. I bought some Kuratake gold ink(wow) - the price on that stuff rises to £70 and £80 when it is largely out of stock 😳I paid a tenner thankfully!) and I also like how your gold dries on the page. Thanks in advance for any info you can give re the gold. ❤
@@KyomiibrownI am so sorry to hear about your cancer, Kyomii 💕 And I can confirm that @jessbutterfly9801 is correct, Sketches uses the Etchr gold watercolour. Unfortunately, you cannot purchase it individually. It comes in a pearlescent set of 12 half-pans and which is priced at $60 on Amazon Canada, and $50 CAD on Jackson’s (out of stock).

Yay, thank you so much Deb!! You are too kind ❤️ congratulations on completing your third sketchbook!

Love seeing all the ways you've used the sketchbooks. No, I haven't finished one, yet. But I sure am collecting them. 😉
I’ve got way more than I’ve finished 😂🤣😂🤣 thank you soo much for watching Paula x
