Despite all the difficulties associated with the situation, how many coaches actually get the chance to watch their teams play from a neutral position or the sidelines? Half the season! Not that this team needs much fine tuning but this situation also brings some unique opportunities for the head coach to just be an observer. How many bosses hope their staff will perform this way when they're out of the office? You have to give Jim his credit for building this type of program.

Michigan strategy: sell the team "America's Team" , develop the players as in a noble fight "truth to power" , ignore the fact that cheating earlier in the year likely created larger point spreads used to rank teams ultimately for entry into playoffs. Instead of talking about how such cheating further compromises what little integrity college football currently has, and how such cheating will compromise the integrity of the playoffs, talk about raising chickens for a while instead. Reinforce "these kids should not be cheated" narrative for a cheating team. Appeal to emotion and have your stand-in head coach cry on camera at the end of a game.
