i never tought Maynard was so humble , what a legend .
The most normal looking rockstart with one of musics most amazing voices. I like seeing someone like lars with a ton of success and the knowledge of the rockstar life doing interviews.
This always will be one of my favorite interviews ever, two legends in music history, together.
Two legends, sitting together and chatting with each other... priceless. Love Metallica, Tool, Puscifer and APC 🤘❤
I clicked this expecting not much in terms of the flow of dialogue. But wow, watching this felt like 2 minutes. What a great interview.
12:21 reminds me of the Invincible lyrics, "Warrior struggling to remain relevant"
I noticed that too..i wonder if it was before or after he wrote invincible.
Just posted the same thing 😊
I think this interview works essencialy for two reasons: 1) Lars really knows how to comunicate and he is a great host. 2) This two musician have mutual respect and maybe that's why Maynard didn't try to troll Lars...In my opinion
Lars may not be the best drummer, but he's super respectable and shows his passion for the art.
He's a drummer?
I've never been the biggest fan of Lars, but man, this interview was phenomenal. FANTASTIC questions, and I loved how willing Maynard was to answer (almost) all of them. I want to listen to this again and again. GREAT stuff!
ok... I was a Lars fan because Metallical. . well, now I am a Lars fan because Lars... wow, great interview!!!!!
Lars is a cool cat talked with him in nyc 2008. Talked about Motörhead. He is a music nerd. I didn’t noticed any I am above you vibe. I met James, my favorite. He was stand off ish
Tony Arenas Lars is great. He’s a massive rock star and I don’t understand all the hate.
Beautiful. I like how he talked about approaching each band vocally.
"I embrace my inner grandpa"-MJK :)
What he said about staying relevant at "his age"- l can say is, I am a millennial who listens to music gifted to us by his generation ..good music is timeless.
At first, I didn’t want to watch this video because Lars is in it, but I was pleasantly surprised by this interview. Lars was very good.
Please Lars let Trent Reznor be next!
BatemanNY... Trent is on Apple Beats payroll so it is very possible but he likely won't do it.
doublestack2k I guess you are right
I would give an arm and a leg plus my first born to see Trent interviewed by Lars
I would love that 🤞🤞🤞
@@rubaidaallen2764 did it happen?
I LOVE coming across these videos of Lars Ulrich interviewing musicians id never imagine him mingling with. Its pretty amazing stuff.
4:05 “Should the guitar solo be 16 bars or 32 bars?”
Adam Jones: How about 46 and 2 bars
Danny Carey: (cracks knuckles and pulls out a giant slide-rule)
You win the internet
That's exactly what I thought when he said _"right..."_ it's like _"oh yeah, sure, as if..."_ lmaooo.
Well played.
Maynard.....The guiding light...Intelligence made easy, not one word out of place..Right On Brother...
wow, the interview feels very honest and open minded on maynards part
Enjoyed it definitely 👌🏻
Lars is shockingly/surprising excellent here. Great job brother
Maynard is a guy who wants you to think outside of the box, expand your mind, and be accountable for your actions. Eat the Elephant is a brilliant record. Great melodies with some metal parts that sneak up on you. Best rock record in years.
@12:10 “Warrior struggling
To remain relevant
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Cry aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Where I end”
This is like Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but with musicians. Great interview and a great guest.
someome tells to this stunning guy that those songs didn't age of 1 day, they still modern, at pace with the times, like they were written yesterday. masterpiece. :D
Great interview. Really well thought out questions, just two musicians talking about what they do and how they do it.
What a surprise, Lars is an excellent host! I didn't expect such a talkative guy to take the backseat and actually listen and respond to the guest in an intelligent and relevant way. Really professional!
Mutual respect between 2 of the greats.
You know what's better than this interview?
The music.
The beauty of Lars doing this interview is because Maynard puts his guard down with people or other aritst he respects
Lars has become a drumming meme. I admittedly doubted him here but he was an incredible interviewer. Many interviewers are too intimidated by Maynard to act natural.. yet this was so natural.. and you can tell by Maynard's vibe. I think it helped Lars being Metallica's manager to have good questions and perspective. Great interview
I never would have imagined Lars interviewing Maynard, lol, wild, my 90s kid heart can't take it
If you enjoyed this then also check out "Maynard James Keenan: The Art of Work", its a four part series created by Revolver and nNo doubt, the best mini documentary that I have seen concerning MJK.
