Lars is a 300x better interviewer than most of the professional journalists out there. Epic interview. This, Billy Corgan and Jerry Cantrell are my absolute favorite ones
It's because there is a level of understanding and respect you can only get by being a long term musician. The rhythm of a conversation matters too, which obviously a drummer has
Lars is unreal. He's so great interviewing artists, he finds the perfect balance between asking questions and also sharing some Metallica facts. I love him. I love Noel too. This is by far my favorite episode now.
I have to admit, listening to Noel acknowledge the fact that Oasis songs mean so much to so many people is very gratifying. I don't know why and I'm sure it's a hard question to answer but it's good to hear him recognise the fact.
It's very gratifying because Noel is fine with dismissing his own work - for example, he'll happily bash the album Be Here Now. But underneath the self-effacing bluster, he knows how much his songs mean to people.
Wow, I’m really impressed with Lars as an interviewer. The difference between him and most music journalists is that he’s actually done it. He’s done the years and climbed the mountain, so he can talk to other artists on a level that a journalist can’t.
These two compliment each other so much and so naturally so, it’s great that they met and get along so well. I remember Lars raving about Oasis in many of his interviews back in the day.
What a great interview. Finally an interviewer who didn't harp on about the sibling rivalry, and the possibility of an oasis reunion. Quite refreshing.
The U2 thing is true,,took my son at 14 years old ( mad fan)manchester stadium,,,when the band all kick in together at the start of ,,streets have no name,, he burst into tears,,,powerful experience !!
Love Lars's facial reaction at 4:44 Totally in his element, it's like he's thinking "It's so rare I get to have this type of conversation with someone"
The best thing about this interview is the fact that Lars Ulrich is a member of arguably one of the biggest bands in history, and Noel Gallagher still truly believes he is the bigger rock star. And that's exactly why I love the Gallagher brothers.
Oh I am too. I'm not siding with either band, I love them both. I just admire Noel's audacity. Nobody would argue that Lars Ulrich is one of the greatest rock stars from one of the biggest bands ever. But Noel truly believes he's a bigger one/
I'm a Mancunian, and a Manchester music fan. So, obviously an oasis fan. But I have to admit Metallica are a far better band. I think they're on another level.
Best interview I've seen with Noel Gallagher. Excellent & makes such a nice change to hear a musician get to talk about how they make music rather than just about celebrity.
bleep77 definitely not maybe he is in the top 5 ever and not finished yet.maybe10🔥years to go 5 albums and the wetdream😌 iv hugely successful oasis album wiv a world-class world tour wiv 💭💭💭💭💭🔥🛐🛐🛐🙏🙏🙏
Billy Corgan, Noel Gallagher, Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain, and Michael Stipe in my opinion stand out for the 90’s. Billie Joe Armstrong with an honorable mention.
I am conflicted because I really love Lars as a drummer but I sort of want him to do these interviews full time!! THEY ARE SOO GOOD! Please keep them coming!!
As a Manchester man I grew up in the 90s as a massive Oasis fan.. As a guitarist I became a Metallica fan in the 00s so it is so interesting to see these two characters talking because they are from completely different worlds
Executioner If you can understand Noel, you can definitely maybe (oops) figure out Liam as well, they're brothers after all even if they have very different voice timbers.
I met Noel at a City match at Blackburn as we were both late and got to talk for two minute about football, so we were peers and he had no ego and seamed to listen to me with respect and an open mind. I do know football and City were (are) doing what Blackburn did, just on a bigger scale. So we had a common experience and I went through it first and he appreciated that, or made it seam that way. Same height as me (about 5’8”) so that gave me hope I can be cool without trying being shorter than average. Struggled with that all my life, but suppressed it until our encounter. He’s give me more than music...he’s a role model, 10+ yrs older. Integral part of who I am.
Lars isn't the most popular artist in rock, but I was watching an interview with Noel not long ago. He absolutely loves Lars, he couldn't speak highly enough of him. So it was always going to be great chemistry between the both of them.
7 minutes in and I'm subscribing, this easy really enjoyable, easy listening. Lars is a damn good interviewer and noel is comfortable enough to just talk normally. 👍 Thank you for this video
I just love the fact that Noel is an absolute chancer. He blagged himself into almost everything, yet he still managed to write some of the finest tunes this world has ever had the fortune of hearing. He should be talked and taught about as a sort of role model in school. And Lars is an absolute great interviewer. Fortunately, he's a long way from the man he used to be when the Napster thing happened.
So accurate about Paul Weller. His album Wild Wood changed my life forever. As an American it's RIDICULOUS how underrated he is here, he's a wonder to behold.
It's not often that the interviewer and the person being interviewed are on an equal plane like this, because of that it flows like two mates exchanging stories, really enjoyed it.
Very interesting interview. Kudos to Lars and Noel was really funny. I am not really an Oasis or High Flying Birds fan.... but Noel has a passion for his music and has a self-belief that is admirable. It comes across in such interviews and even live shows.
Noel's articulation while speaking has gotten SO much better. I remember 20ish yrs ago, you couldn't understand a thing he said, he talked so fast! haha
Ps .... Lars is an amazing interviewer, he knows when to step in and where to step away from talking and the quality of questions are amazing too! Most interviewers ask boring questions and in the end they ask the reunion question. But Lars is killing it in the radio world too🤟
He is right the showmen is great. There is always at least 2 songs from u2 albums that are the best u have ever heard. Volcano from songs of innocence is another great one maybe one of their best ever. After 40 years to still be that good
Even too this day Mustaine still has his silly remarks about Metallica, Kirk Hammetts solos etc, I love his music etc but it’s a wonder why there isn’t another tour of the Big four going ahead aswell
Well it’s funny you mention that cuz slayer is packing it in and Dave said he wants to do another big 4 performance of “am I evil” so...guess we’ll just see. Won’t we?
Noel please come to Montreal soon! Can't wait to listen to your "Live Forever" accoustic rendition . I sing that song to my daughter before she goes to sleep since the day she was born. Cheers man.
I don't know how many people here have heard Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkel let alone Aretha Franklin but the way Aretha does it turns it into a completely different song. The lyrics don't change but the way she does it completely changes the spirit of the thing.
Lars Ulrich is just like Henry Rollins he is an outstanding interviewer. Even when I was a kid in the early 1990s, I was even impressed by how good he was at speaking and doing interviews.
It's always good to hear 2 legends from 2 great bands having a chat about music. They always seem to produce great interviews. Much like the Ronnie Wood Show.
He'll yea! Lasts is so good at asking good interesting questions only a fellow musician could get out of them. He makes interviewing Noel and EVEN MAYNARD look easy.
It’s beating a dead horse and I apologize. But one of the main reason I picked up sticks? Interviewing probably the main reason I picked up a guitar. Not just Wonderwall of course. This is amazing!
Noel’s vocals are perfect! I always preferred the Oasis demos with Noel singing. The MTV unplugged was amazing. Love Liam’s voice 94-98, unbeatable....it’s a shame he can’t hold a note anymore. But Noel’s voice has become very powerful. Sounds ace! ✌🏻🕶🎶
Lars did a great job in leading this interview, I've watched a lot of interviews from Noel and it's never been so open and at ease than in this occasion and, despite having Irish descent, that tells a lot considering how much Noel is perhaps the epitome of the English man, discrete and quite unflappable. Maybe having a friend hosting the thing makes it feel more comfortable.
Noel is probably one of the greatest songwriters in Rock an Roll and Liam of the best frontmen ever. Today only the foo fighters write entire albums where every song is great.Oasis did that.
Don't be such a dummie main! Comments like these RUIN TH-cam and all other social media, people with their uneducated "optics" on things Probably more like 37%, obviously
My favourite songs are when I dont know most of the words cos the melody blows my away way and sends me, now I know its the same for Noel and it kinda justifies it which is grand.
So..... Noel writes when he watches TV.... And speaks about "happy accidents"... I'll never get the image of Noel Gallagher watching Bob Ross out of my head again!
Love this interview, love Noel. Haha, for the ladies. But yes I do enjoy his solo music very much. I agree, his voice is stronger. But at the same time love his attitude and yes, Oasis songs are amazing. The thing I find interesting most is about the lyrics. I like live for amazing lyrics and there are so important to me and mean a f*** big deal to me. Yes of course the music is super important too. Also love U2 and it is true that you see/hear things differently through time. Some songs you listen and listen but then it hits you how freaking amazing the song really is. Where the streets have no name for sure is one of those songs. Cheers!
Lars is a 300x better interviewer than most of the professional journalists out there. Epic interview. This, Billy Corgan and Jerry Cantrell are my absolute favorite ones
Guy even says in the end of the BC interview that he'd done like 13 other with him until that day and that was the best of all.
AGREE
It's because there is a level of understanding and respect you can only get by being a long term musician. The rhythm of a conversation matters too, which obviously a drummer has
Tom Morello is great too.
The fact that is Lars makes the musicians to react diferent, they
see him as equals.
Lars is unreal. He's so great interviewing artists, he finds the perfect balance between asking questions and also sharing some Metallica facts. I love him. I love Noel too. This is by far my favorite episode now.
Thanks for watching!
Beats 1 on Apple Music thank you for posting ❤️
camilarsz best episode for sure
Derek Hanson you know it!
camilarsz the Billy Corgan interview was really good too
I have to admit, listening to Noel acknowledge the fact that Oasis songs mean so much to so many people is very gratifying.
Noel is hysterical and cocky and deserves to be ... guy has written some of the biggest and best songs of all time
You can always tell it’s a good interview when it slowly turns into an actual conversation as if there were no cameras recording them
That’s the best interview I’ve ever seen with Noel. Lars asked the perfect questions. I’m impressed.
could help that hes a big fan! :D
Helps that they're actual friends
this and they being friends, helps a lot. Great interview nonetheless.

I'd love Lars to interview Jason Newsted.
but HE FOCKING LEFT THE BAND
Scott Smith YES HAHAHA
Robin Malmberg Stole the words right out of my mouth xD
I don’t think Lars wanted him to leave nor was he against him doing his own thing
if it gets to a 100 (y) he gotta do it.
I strive to have Noel's attitude. Do what you do and do it hard, believe you're the best, and don't listen to any of the negative noise.
These two compliment each other so much and so naturally so, it’s great that they met and get along so well. I remember Lars raving about Oasis in many of his interviews back in the day.
What an Amazing Interview!!!
Lovely and fun how you both enjoyed this time.
Long life to Lars and Noel...
What a great interview. Finally an interviewer who didn't harp on about the sibling rivalry,
and the possibility of an oasis reunion. Quite refreshing.
The U2 thing is true,,took my son at 14 years old ( mad fan)manchester stadium,,,when the band all kick in together at the start of ,,streets have no name,, he burst into tears,,,powerful experience !!
Fantastic! Lars, you're doing an amazing job with these interviews - Yous truly , a Long time Metallica Fan!
He's such a nerd, brilliant!
Love Lars's facial reaction at 4:44
Totally in his element, it's like he's thinking "It's so rare I get to have this type of conversation with someone"
Noel and lars are great songwriters period. Their songs would “live forever”
Loved Noel's reaction to the question "but what do (Oasis songs) mean to you?". He really seemed touched by it
Got to finally see Noel live a week a go, and man... What a legend
Sami Yanes what did that cost ?? under £150?
The best thing about this interview is the fact that Lars Ulrich is a member of arguably one of the biggest bands in history,
and Noel Gallagher still truly believes he is the bigger rock star. And that's exactly why I love the Gallagher brothers.
RedShiftRider That and Lars is a huge Oasis fan. He have said it in plenty of interviews.
Oh I am too. I'm not siding with either band, I love them both. I just admire Noel's audacity. Nobody would argue that Lars Ulrich is one of the greatest rock stars from one of the biggest bands ever. But Noel truly believes he's a bigger one/

Doesn't matter who's the best. We should be thankful that we live in the same era with those two great bands.
The UK thinks differently
Best interview I've seen with Noel Gallagher. Excellent & makes such a nice change to hear a musician get to talk about how they make music rather than just about celebrity.
You can tell the mutual respect they have for each other, best Noel Gallagher interview. comfortable and calm the whole time
Lars is a cool guy. And actually Noel is too. Great interview!
Looking forward to an interview with Liam.
Noel Gallagher is the greatest songwriter of his generation.
bleep77 James Hetfield.

Billy Corgan, Noel Gallagher, Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain, and Michael Stipe in my opinion stand out for the 90’s. Billie Joe Armstrong with an honorable mention.
My top 5 from 90's
Beck
Bjork
Jerry Cantrell ( Alice In Chains )
Kurt Cobain
Elliott Smith.
No particular order....
lol
Wow..never would of thought these two would get along but what a cool conversation..they both genuinely seem to be interested in each other. Awesome..
I am conflicted because I really love Lars as a drummer but I sort of want him to do these interviews full time!! THEY ARE SOO GOOD! Please keep them coming!!
A brilliant interview. I'm not a massive Oasis fan, but Noel comes across really well here and a brilliant job by Lars.
As a Manchester man I grew up in the 90s as a massive Oasis fan.. As a guitarist I became a Metallica fan in the 00s so it is so interesting to see these two characters talking because they are from completely different worlds
Kind of like musical avengers
I was at metallica gmex 92 oasis in 97 good times😍
We need one with Liam as well! I loved this
Yeah but he's 100x cooler.
no the guy is unique and just because you don't understand him means we shouldn't get one
RedShiftRider That's why oasis worked. Noel will never be as cool as Liam, and Liam will never be as good of a song writer as Noel.
Well said.
Executioner If you can understand Noel, you can definitely maybe (oops) figure out Liam as well, they're brothers after all even if they have very different voice timbers.

Lars is surprisingly a great interviewer. These need to come back!!!
This was such a great interview. It feels like I'm watching 2 old friends just having a laid back conversation.
Two legends from my all time favorite bands.
all smiles , man. two of my favorite musicians. thanks for posting. Hope music comes around circle.
Lars isn't the most popular artist in rock, but I was watching an interview with Noel not long ago. He absolutely loves Lars, he couldn't speak highly enough of him. So it was always going to be great chemistry between the both of them.
Fckin Legends. Both of them. Still watching this regularly 4 years later. It should be an hour longer
What a meeting of the minds this is. Fantastic interview between two fantastic personalities, from two of my all time favourite bands. Nice one Lars!
7 minutes in and I'm subscribing, this easy really enjoyable, easy listening. Lars is a damn good interviewer and noel is comfortable enough to just talk normally. 👍 Thank you for this video
His voice has improved since the 90s, saw him in Manchester last night his voice was incredible, bout time it sounded up to scratch too
GREAT INTERVIEW..Lars is a music fan first an musician second. He is always a pleasure to listen to.

this is probaly the best interview i have seen with noel in a long time all credit to lars!!!!
Love Metallica, U2, and Oasis!
Wow. Long live u sir
So accurate about Paul Weller. His album Wild Wood changed my life forever. As an American it's RIDICULOUS how underrated he is here, he's a wonder to behold.
This is the best interview I've seen in 2018. Thanks for uploading
Noel: I got a text from the drummer of metallica..
Lars: He has your number???
It's not often that the interviewer and the person being interviewed are on an equal plane like this, because of that it flows like two mates exchanging stories, really enjoyed it.

Wish this was still going on. Lars is a good dude, he knows music and he interviews ppl he gets it. I love these
He is right the showmen is great. There is always at least 2 songs from u2 albums that are the best u have ever heard. Volcano from songs of innocence is another great one maybe one of their best ever. After 40 years to still be that good
Excellent.Two heavyweights grounded.Humble.Great interview.
Lars and the Chief! This needs to be about two hours longer. Fantastic interview. Paul The ModFather F'n Weller!
Would Lars ever interview Dave Mustaine. Obviously I know the Metalli-history, but I think it would be really great.
There’s an 💡
I think so, they've patched it up but probably too many difficult memories to go through for them to bother unearthing all that again...
Won’t we?
Theres been another Problem again between them haha
Lars and Noel have been close friends since the 1990s. And they’re both songwriters. Which creates a great flow
After all these years I'm still convinced that Noel is a genius and gets smarter as he gets older
Lars is simply the best interviewer out there. Another great show!
Love both the Gallagher brothers
I am in complete awe of how kick ass Lars is..great questions and holds back when the need be..
Great interview - Lars asked great questions.
Noel please come to Montreal soon! Can't wait to listen to your "Live Forever" accoustic rendition . I sing that song to my daughter before she goes to sleep since the day she was born. Cheers man.

I could listen to those two for hours. Fascinating, intelligent people.
Lars Ulrich is just like Henry Rollins he is an outstanding interviewer. Even when I was a kid in the early 1990s, I was even impressed by how good he was at speaking and doing interviews.
I could have listened to these two for much longer than a 20min.
Noel also started to say "you know what I mean" alot just like Liam.
It's always good to hear 2 legends from 2 great bands having a chat about music. They always seem to produce great interviews. Much like the Ronnie Wood Show.
Wow just wow. Two legends just having a bit banter.
Two of my sources of inspiration get together and talk music.
Perfect!

This is pritty much the perfect interview.
Both interested in the guests AND the interviewer!
Lars did a great job in leading this interview, I've watched a lot of interviews from Noel and it's never been so open and at ease than in this occasion and, despite having Irish descent, that tells a lot considering how much Noel is perhaps the epitome of the English man, discrete and quite unflappable. Great Interview, , Great Interviewer who asks Noel the right questions,.. Creating a fuller conversation. !
Brilliant interview, 2 legends
Legend my arse
@@paulshields8332 they are too legends though...
Paul Shields no need to be nasty mate...
lars a legend....long forgotten if he ever was.
well, noel definetly is
I wish if this interview lasted longer
Noel is probably one of the greatest songwriters in Rock an Roll and Liam of the best frontmen ever. Today only the foo fighters write entire albums where every song is great.Oasis did that.
It's refreshing seeing Lars getting respect in the comments, he is a great interviewer.
Yeah man, we're all happy he's finally found himself a job he's good at.
30% of the budget for It's Electric is spent on toothpicks
Thus no colour
Lars can put a padlock in his mouth and unlock it with that toothpick...
hahah I was just going to say that Im surprised nobody has nicknamed him Toothpick by now.
He probably got a seed stuck in his teeth.
Don't be such a dummie main!
Comments like these RUIN TH-cam and all other social media, people with their uneducated "optics" on things
Probably more like 37%, obviously
Oasis and Metallica. My two favourite bands on the planet. ❤❤
Cool interview; they clearly respect each others work, and are just having a good old fashioned chat between friends..
These two are great together.
Great interviewer
you can tell these guys respect one another
I heard back in the 90s Lars was an Oasis superfan which struck me as cool at the time
They are good friends actually. They used to hang out back then
Two legends of my youth
8:27 I wonder what that conversation was like when Kirk said he had no riffs for 'Hardwired...' because he lost his phone.
Great interview! Freeking love this content! Lars is soo good at interviewing this ”difficult” artists, and they opens up, so refreshing. Damn!
Oasis just had great riffs, and Liam’s kind of rough voice just made it sound great. Even less well known songs like Up in the Sky or Bring it on Down
...And Justice For The Masterplan
The interview we wanted to see.
Cheers!
Sounds like he's in a good place.Happy for the guy
His song writing is genius
When he came to Sydney he played Dya Wanna Be a Spaceman for a bloke called Sid. Big thanks to Sid.
