  • We all love Phoebe Philo. But how did Celine become big? What were the beginnings of the brand and who revolutionized it? It's hard to believe, but it was Michael Kors. Some may not even know that he was the brand's first creative director, but oh yes he was. Even though this is a different perspective, we also have to appreciate his accomplishments. So here comes a little chat about the brand. Personally, i also love you Michael. You will know why after this video.
What do you think about Michael Kors in general? Lets try to stay objective haha lol

I appreciate how objectively you tried to portray Michael Kors. I’ve seen a lot of people treat him like a meme or someone to be overlooked, but the man is a household name for a reason. Thanks for a great vid Tuba! ✌🏻

Yes, Michael Kors fan here ! I love his minimalist American sportswear style. The criticism of him is always the same - its minimalist American sportswear. Yes it is. And it sells, tons. And majority of people will want to buy it, or would buy it, if they could afford it. The avant garde fashion that some fashion snobs love so much, very few people actually wear. Some fashion "experts" think that what's popular and is inherently beautiful and not weird is inferior. There are no experts in fashion, just opinion, personal taste, sales and snobs.

FYI Michael Kors was thought of more highly in the 90s before he diluted his name with all the cheaper stuff in his lower lines. He was never cutting edge but he really knew his target audience - classic sportwear.

Hello Tuba ✋🏻 You should make a video about Loewe (or Jonathan Anderson) because that’s my favorite brand, and that would make me very happy

This Celine related saga from BV, Phoebe, Hedi, and now Kors, is really interesting. Still need an overview tho on how so many designers under Phoebe ended up doing well being creative director. I just heard that the one creative director at Hermes now was a Phoebe's staff also.

This video was great! It's not fair this way we love to hate on someone specific, I feel like it's become more like a habit now to hate on Michael Kors at Celine, it's almost a default mode (and anything on default mode I find kind of boring). While I am a complete Philo fan I still think it's important to give justice to Michael's era too and to the order of things in general. Thanks for making this video, I really enjoy your content.

One thing I know about Michael Kors is that in a lot of his collections Ali McGraw the actress was an inspiration. Because I live here in the US I have to say most of the shops carry his lower priced items, specially his bags that a lot of the American middle class buy.

Cool video, pretty interesting. It's true, in the past I only ever thought of Kors in a negative light.
But now I will wear Michael Kors exclusively, head-to-toe.

Can you talk about how LVMH tried to take over Hermès?

You need to check out his "Project Runway Greatest Hits" then see if you still feel he's sympathetic. Agree that he set the foundation that others drafted off of, but kind human he is not.

There’s nothing wrong about sellability and sportswear, all his stuff in the retail store just copied everything out there. That’s the problem. No one gives Coach or Kate Spade that much shizz because they at least tried to do something original
