"You overestimate what you can get done in a day, but underestimate what you can get done in a year" - never heard that before, but love it! My biggest problem with this method was always over-cramming a day and feeling deflated when i didn't achieve everything, that saying sums it up perfectly.
That's true of any two time frames. It's most often used as overestimating what you can get done in a year, but vastly underestimating what you can get done in 10 years. Incremental improvements lead to quantum leaps, which are often not accounted for.
First time I heard it was like 20 years ago when I started BJJ. A lot of us kept wondering when we'd become blue belts, or purple belts, etc. And we were told, "You overestimate what you'll accomplish in one year, but underestimate what you can accomplish in five years."
Though, I think honestly people underestimate what they can do in an hour. They’re like “oh I have a meeting in 45 minutes, I don’t have any time besides to browse my phone” Though I like that quote, I think honestly the best philosophy to follow is to just hold yourself to be a respectable person. Just ask, “what would the person who I want to be do right now? Or what decision would they make?” Obviously I don’t always follow this myself, but I think thats a simple and helpful thing to have on mind.
As someone who loves watches and notebooks, this video still appeals to me. What makes a watch an even more potent reminder of the passage of time is a 24 hour hand. It visually shows what proportion of the day has passed, and is left.
Me too! I've loved watches since I was child and have worn one ever since. If budget allows, I suggest an automatic/mechanical watch to negate the need to replace a battery. After replacing the batteries in my wife's six watches, all with differing battery types, I'll never go back to a quartz movement. Solar powered is another option, but more expensive. As for notebooks, I do spend a little more for a hardback version and attach an adhesive pen loop to the inside of the back cover. Then you are good to go my friend!
@@oldfartinthenight9201 Solar powered watches are inexpensive compared to mechanical watches. I've got a Citizen Ecodrive which is as accurate as the best mechanical watches.
watches have made me realize how time is a force of nature. We are so used to just always seeing the time on our phone or computer screen, but a watch is a little device that grabs on to the stream of time and measures it until it stops. Makes you much more aware of the passage of time.
People in here really overestimate an impact a wrist watch can have. I've been wearing my grandpa's watch since high school, going on my 4th year of uni in 2025, and I really don't even think about it, it's just a time keeping piece same as my phone. The only reason I wear it at all is because in school I always had some shitty beater phone that wouldn't even hold battery for half a day so I needed a watch to at least know what time it is. The notebook part is solid though. But for me journaling and planning is just another habit to eat up my already dispersed focus, just another thing taking space up in my head, try as I might, I never benefitted much from using a planner or journaling
I'm an old guy and have been wearing a watch since i was 6 years old, it was a windup Timex and have been wearing them ever since I never leave home without it along with a pocket knife , cash, and a handkerchief, We didn't call it EDC back then, for me it was from being in the boy scouts from 11 till I got my drivers license Now I also have an iPhone that I admit i would be lost without it, However it will never replace my Casio G shocks as well the other things I carry daily . I have just started having a pen and small notebook with me at all times now . Its part of getting older to write down many things during the day , mostly so you wont forget . I enjoyed your channel very much , I loved the video and the subject , hope to see more , sincerely RGW in NC
As a watch enthusiast (over 100 pieces) I highly enjoyed this video. Not only was it strangely relaxing, but it brought me back to the core of what I love about watches: our visual partners in time.
Man that’s super cool! Ive just gotten into watches, as a hobby, after getting a pocket watch and getting hooked. I was never a watch guy, but mechanicals feel alive to me. Though I usually wear a quartz, just because I cant yet afford a decent mechanical.
I'd like to contact you regarding some watchmaking, if at all possible. I'm a home taught hack at best, but I do love watchmaking, and was a member of the NWACC for a time. Well met, and take care!
Healthcare worker here, 12 year vet. I started carrying a notebook while at work years ago. While dont necessarily plan my days i do jot down various tasks that need to get done or get specifacally assigned to me. It helps me to organize my tasks by importance and/or how old the task is. It always feels so good to tear out a page that has everything marked out and no more room left on it. -cheers.
Thank you YT algorithm for serving up this gem. Great advice. I'll chime in and suggest that you buy the Casio you like and never look at another watch again. You'll save yourself $$$.
You nailed the concept of simple and memorable productivity in this video. A few thoughts to add: 1. Look at the daily list and mark the top 3 priorities with "1..2..3". It just helps focus getting those done first. 2. Each day decide which unfinished items are low priority and move them to a list on the back page of your notebook. You can bring them back later if your customer, boss, partner insists, ofc. 3. At yearend, look at completed items and congratulate yourself. Check the low priority list and cross off the items that have expired in importance. Start the year with a pretty clean slate! 4. Upgrade the notebook to Rite in the Rain if you work outdoors or in wet spaces (wet labs, chemical manufacturing, farming, etc.) and use a pencil or compatible ink pen so your notes are legible. ATB with your channel growth and ideas. Edit: Forgot to mention subbed.
EXCELLENT video. I became a watch guy age 6 when my father bought me a watch. I still have it and it still works (kind of). Next year I'll be 70. Personally I prefer analog displays - you can glance at them without reading them exactly, without working out the exact elapsed time since last time but instead get an intuitive FEEL for how much time has gone by. Was it about 10 minutes, 15, a half hour, an hour or more? And the notebook/journal is also an EXCELLENT tip, as is BEFORE bed (for me it was at end of my work day) - this way you can offload your thoughts in non-erasable, retrievable format and free your mind for unfettered, worry- and analysis-free peaceful deep sleep-filled restful nights so you can be relaxed, sharp, efficient and creative during your day. This means that with practice, you WORK BETTER and with LESS STRESS and ACHIEVE MORE. This reinforces your self-image and gives you more confidence and ultimately, authority over time. These are habits of above-average achievers, successful people. And it started with a watch, a notebook and self-discipline..
Ive had expensive, rare watches, cheap watches. But the one ive used the most is the Casio Duro. Wearing it right now. Its just fantastic. Thumbs up, great video.
I honestly never comment on youtube, but i feel like i have to this time. I started wearing a casio over 5 years ago. Could not stress enough how much is has changed my perception of time. I "feel" the time, i have an intuition on what hour it is during the day (lets say i guess 12:30 and its 12:40). I am way more conscious on how much it takes me to do some tasks, i am hardly ever late because i keep track of the time better. it has shifted my mentality into a better organized place. After i moved out a year ago i started using a notebook, did not plan it, it just came naturally. I use it to write down the tasks i needed to do (laundry, groceries, homework, plans i had for the weekend...) and other stuff like dates, meetings or random lists (like what i want to bring on a suitcase or cooking recipes with ingredients) I cannot recommend it enough, give it a try and you will find yourself more organized. Dont stress it though, everyone has its system
I use a pocket notebook literally just as a daily to-do list and it’s great. Was a really easy way to get into using them. Tasks as simple as clipping my nails and doing some homework. Helps to make sure things get done but also I can look back at how much I actually did in a day
I think this video just changed my life. Like, I'd thought of this from the day I'd be born, time management would've been easier - whereas, I would always leave it to the last minute of whatever needed to be done.
Been wearing a watch for 52 years. Wore two right after I started my first business. Eccentric? No. I needed two time zones. Could not have survived without them both. Liked the tour of the neighborhood the first time, but by the third, I was ready for a change of scenery. Other than that, awesome job. Loved your speaking cadence and tone and straight forward speech with no filler words. Bravo. Keep up the great work!!!
I started wearing a watch 2 months ago and also started using a notebook with a pen. Managing what I"m doing per hour has changed my productivity like crazy.
Have been wearing a watch since 2009, when I was 12 years old and always carried a small notebook in school in my pocket, which eventually got converted into a journal diary since 2021.
If you find yourself using the notebook, I would like to suggest getting a passport size travelers notebook set up. You can accomplish a lot with one of them. You can do the same things on your phone but for me actually laying out your plans on paper makes me have a strong desire to complete the things that are in the book since I have already invested time into completing them. Like tracking my finances and sticking to my budget since I always know how much I have spent this pay period and how much is in my checking and savings. Completing different tasks since I have put in writing I was going to do them sticking to my grocery list instead of just going and getting things as I want or see them in the store. That works because I plan meals in my note book. So I eat out less and save more. Knowing my schedule for the week since I have written it out after checking my calendar, I feel like I am more involved in my own life. I don't have to have my phone constantly reminding me or have to look at it to know my money situation or worry about when a bill is due or my upcoming appointments. I never miss recycling day because I always know ehen it is. So i dont have to wait on the neighbors to take their cans down to know what goes this week. As a result, I use my phone less as I don't look at it as much for information and then get off task checking Facebook or whatever. I'm just more productive. I also don't like navigating all the apps to go check my bank or my calendar or the notes feature on my phone. Writing it down is faster when you want that information.
3:17 Yes, writing an itinerary or checklist _the night before_ is important, while the day’s unfinished activities are still fresh in the mind 👍 And, a calendar planner! A simple monthly or weekly “At a Glance” planner is adequate, in my opinion. Helps to plan for beyond just the next day, especially appointments and scheduled events 👍
Haha, I'm an old guy and I remember how happy I felt when I realized I no longer needed to wear a watch because I now had a phone that also told time. Then smart phones with calculators! And now real time language translation is imminent! Once in a while I look at my old watches and recall the routines I had for them, then I gingerly repackage them and put them away. Nice video, thank you.
I got a seiko 5, a few years ago. It’s automatic so I don’t have to replace the batteries ever. It’s gone up in price since, but that just proves a half decent watch is a good investment
You sound young. I'm glad to hear that you are realizing the simple solutions that just work. So many younger people dont wear watches and certainly never write anything in a notebook. But those two things will carry you through many complex days. Thumbs up
I love it! A young person discovering the old ways of doing things. A watch and a little notebook and pen were all we needed. How I miss it. I do wear a watch. Now, I'm stuck on the smartphone, too. Thanks for reminding me that I'm not stuck. I need a pad and pen.
I picked up these exact habits back when I had my first year of apprenticeship in a small firm. Im also a forgetful person and I love doodling so a small notebook was so handy. 8 years later I have 8 watches in my collection and a ton of filled notebooks lol.
Notebooks are so handy, right? When I got a "smart"phone, i still kept notebooks, because the notes apps do not help me much. Now to get any of my watches fixed.... i love wearing a watch.
@@nathadagothia7341 Note books are amazing for sure, the texture and just how easy to jot down or sketch and its not a "hot" item for thieves when you're out there and doing notes.
Since I’ve stopped wearing a watch my stress level has dropped considerably. Pacing myself without a watch helps me relax more without the pressures of a watch.😊🙏
I was never a watch person, but I recently bought a watch for first time in my life: a Casio gshock. And similar thing happened to me, I started to notice how much time I am spending where. Also instead of looking at phone for time I am checking my watch which is less distracting.
Im great advocate of the urgent and important task list. Write your tasks down and assign a number between one and five for how important the task is and its urgency, multiply those together that gives you your next task . That got me through many busy weeks and days where the number of tasks were simply a blizzard.
KT, this is a good video with some sage advice. The only thing I can add since I’m an old man now is, “Remember, Mr. Murphy is always along for the ride.” Which means build in a decent fudge factor in whatever you do.
Great advice for everyone. The essentials to getting organised are not expensive. Those watches you showed, for me, stand up to any, at any price. Great that you also highlighted an inexpensive generic notebook. These for me, are the best, you're not worried about scribbling onto an expensive notebook. So, your creativity gets freerer reign.
This video is so simple and resonates with me. I have been wearing a watch for maybe 6 months now and I've just realized it's not just me who feels this way. Thank you. Please upload more videos as well in the future
I feel this video found me at the right time. I've decided to go back to school while working full time and my schedule is a far cry from balanced. Starting my second semester today, one class called for us to make a goal to work on this year and time management is that goal. I will definitely give this a try and I hope it yields positive results.
What a powerful video! I retired a few years ago and I bragged about not having to wear a watch anymore. But now that it is my OWN time it is really far more valuable and this method would protect it Not to mention that at retirement you realize time is no longer your friend, the dirt nap is coming probably sooner than you think!
This came across my recommended and I didn’t think much of it. But after watching, I’m already planning my day for tomorrow. Life has been chaotic lately. You’ve reminded me that it’s good to have things in writing and planned where possible. Thank you for such great advice. Best of luck on your future endeavors.
@ fun fact, and Not a joke, so did I too… and on that day the Multifort took it badly and went on strike 😂😱 so it’s back to MIDO and you can see the Ocean Star in my latest videos… isn’t that 😄 funny? BTW I think the size is perfect 👌 … the jeweler had doubts and wanted to push me towards the bigger ones
Spot on..... I'll never be without a watch, but I can see me without a smartphone. I also journal a lot, it's a time saver, as well as a life saver. 😁👍
The Casio f91w is one of the best watches ever made. I remember during my time in “basic”, some years ago now, we were taking instruction from a Colours sergeant, who had done nearly 20 years in the corps. He told us he’d served in Iraq and Afghan, done time with the SFSG and SBS, had access to the best and most cutting edge kit that was around. He yanked the wrist of one of the lads and pointed to his Casio, and said “this is the best bit of kit I have ever used, nothing I’ve used has been more dependable or reliable, and I wouldn’t even think of going to work without one”. Perhaps he was taking a back hander from Casio, or maybe just trying to instil in us the idea of being on time, but Ive rarely used anything else since and can confirm they are nearly indestructible, perfectly accurate and have never failed on me once . Great watch and you can afford to buy 100 of them for less than a used tag or fossil. Not that you’d ever work your way through 100 in a lifetime.
Casio makes a really great solar powered watch that is under $40.00 and works really well. Dollar General sells a three pack of pocket notebooks and cheap mechanical pencils. I use them both daily. The notebook for thoughts, tasks and ride data.
Alternative idea with what to write in your notebook: I call it 5-5-R. In short or long bullets write down: - 5 things you didn't like about today (do this first because its easy to get your mind going, and get your pen on paper) - 5 things you liked about today - Any other remarks, things on your mind It doesn't matter if the content is the same as what you wrote as yesterday, it doesn't matter how long or short it is. Point is you're reflecting on the day, yourself, your mind...
Very glad i stumbled upon this video: you've confirmed what i thought has worked best for a long time. Word of advice for others: any notebook size is good. Get what works best for you. Also, dedicate a book (or many) to journal in regularly. Over time, look through them and see how many prayers God answered (He loves you enough to have died for you! John 3:16-18). And don't bloody well let others laugh you out of these habits! It's their loss of they won't be organised. God bless, as He did with me. Man, is God good!!!!
For me an analogue watch gave me the feeling of how big 15 minutes are. It's like 1/4th of a complete rotation and time it takes to rotate shows me that how many things I can get done. For example I'm a student and I watch lectures. I try to complete 2 lectures (2 hours long each) in 3 hours And as the chronograph of my watch ticks I feel the urgency to study while also not being too stressed about it. That's exactly something you need. A watch which pushes you a little bit over the limit also while not making you getting overwhelmed by the passing time
I really love wearing any type of watches. Especially on work, because I get to know much time any kind of work takes. Its also a nice accessoir as well
I have an armani watch. I didn't get it because of the brand, but it was the right size and i liked the design. It's nice to check the time on your wrist instead of reaching for my phone to check the time everytime
The best thing about wearing a divers watch with Bezel you can set the bezel to when you commence something AND be able to see the current time with a turn of your wrist. I still wear the same Seiko divers watch model 7548-7000 I got for my 18th Bday in 1978. Yeah I'm 64yo. Simple things like I set a goal a few years ago to read something of benefit for 60 minutes each day. I read mainly biographies. I swim every day for 16 minutes. After my swim I do the 60m reading in a cafe with coffee.
TRUTH!! i recently became a Engineer through a career change and purchased a watch and hadn't worn one since the 7th grade. I'm 50 now and i love my time mangement with it and my small notebook. content like this is amazing and great. simple and talking about the things no one else does to help everyday life. keep up the great content!
Absolutely OUTSTANDING video !! I carry in my shirt pocket (yes all my shirts have a pocket) pen and small notebook. I tried organizing the note book but it is better to just jot whatever in the book so you do not get sidetracked and forget. Need something from the store, jot it down. Need to fix somthing, jot it down. Planning your day/project/etc is invaluable. Being able to note things is also invaluable. I feel you should carry a pen light in your pocket too... Great Video and yes, what youtube was made for...
I have a white board in my room that I use to do something similar. I'll spend 10~20 minutes on Sunday planning out the major tasks for each day to make sure I'm moving towards my goals. Really helps a lot since I have a tendency to flail around at whatever project is in front of me if I don't have an idea of what I should be doing.
I liked this and subscribed. You sound like a young guy with good ideas. I’m an old guy and it’s encouraging to hear young people using their time well. Thanks
True sir. I have two daughters in their 20’s whom I love to death, but they (like most people of their generation and a lot of people in general) waste SO much time on their smart phones. My gen used to waste time watching TV, I guess, but the phone is right there, available 24/24, in your pocket, pinging you with every notification under the Sun, which TV could never do. Anyway, you’re right, it’s so good to hear a younger person with such good habits.
You are so correct. I've always worn a watch, and I use the same Walmart notebooks to plan ahead and to keep records of what I've done. The notebooks really help me accomplish more and prioritize the most important things. In addition to the notebook, I use a cheap pocket calendar ($7 off Ebay) to organize my schedule for days ahead, so I don't forget appointments, etc. The calendar is the same small size as my notebook, and I carry them both everywhere I go.
I am using the analog watch my parents gave to me some christmas a few years back. I procastinated bying new straps after the leather ones finally ripped. Bought new ones and changed the battery for maybe 30€. I mostly wear it because i realized how often i checked my phone for the time and never looked at the time because the notifications took my attention. It was just way too frustrating taking out my phone to check the time and realize i never looked at it or forgot it after i put my phone away again. I will try the day planning with the notebook, thanks for the tip. I tried using it for groceries and other "what to buy" lists but it is just way easier to check of todos on my phone with one hand while grabbing the things i need
Well done! The point about over estimating what can get done in a day versus underestimating what you get done in a year is excellent. It’s a point I’ll be mulling over for quite a while.
Recently I started doing doing both of these things (wearing a watch, using a notepad) and it makes a world of difference. It really will make you better and more productive, or at least feel that way and encourage you to be more that way inclined. In short, it can only be a positive.
Great video. I started wearing a watch full time a few years back and use a padfolio everyday. The smartphone is obviously a powerful tool, but can become a huge parasite on time. I’ve found life is so much more pleasant and actually more productive when little things like watches, pens and paper keep you off of it.
Ditto, I am not in a rush to get stuff done, but proper time management is crucial for happiness. Wouldn't you like to spend time with loved ones AND still spend time pursuing goals? It's about balance. You need to keep track of time.
Over the past few yrs I've managed to collect about 10 watches. Some I bought at the start, other are gifts from family or friends. None of my watches are over $150. If I break one or lose one it's no biggy. I always carry my handy dandy notebook and mighty pen. It's just easier for me to write than type what needs to get done. Great advice in my opinion. Although I didn't learn much from this video, I'm sure others will. It's a good way to unplug.
I’ve worn a watch since grammar school. My four years in the USAF meant time-keeping was critical. Twenty-two years in the police department mandated daily watch wear. As a newspaper editor, a watch was simply common sense. A tech-savvy colleague at that newspaper saw me jot something in my pocket notebook and asked why I wasted time writing things down when I could have just typed them into my phone. A phone can be dropped and broken. Notebook-no problem. He also didn’t believe in watches, since his phone always had the right time. So, I told him, “You're just back to carrying a pocket watch like in pre-World War One days.” It’s amazing how young adults quickly become ‘trapped’ by technology.
Thank you for not having a bunch of effects and intro music and using all of the stupid standard TH-cam greetings. Just a simple video with a simple message that helps and encourages.
This is great I carry the same style notebook! I even made a little pouch for it. I use mine mainly for to-do lists and random ideas or things i need to do that come to me randomly throughout the day.
I use my watch as motivation to get more steps and stay mobile. I also use a notebook to do a nightly reflection to God on my day. I’m currently on day 233 and it’s really changed my life. Both watches and notebooks are game changers
I brought myself a Casio G Shock with an Auscam theme. I'm an Officer in the RAAF and time management is essential. I journal every day and have done so for 2
Subbed. Just bought a Casio Duro today. I can see the truth in what you say. The design is clean and elegant for the price. Bought it not because my dad actually collects watches and not out of impulse after your gentle recommendations. But I want to have a constant reminder of how I must live a disciplined life for the people that matter to me the most and my life in general. It all starts with the habit-making of time management and mindfulness (journaling). Change, basically. I'll be joining a diving community soon, I learned how the rotating bezel can be used for that activity. Eager to meet new people and put myself out there. If that doesn't work out for me or it fails... at the very least I'll have avoided looking at my phone screen too much, even just for checking the time. Then I'll move on to the next thing that'll pull me out of the rut I am in. Thanks for this video. I'll go back to marching now. Eyes forward brother.
This video is right on the button. Three things that dear to my heart, my Orient Kamatsu, an Esterbrook Estie Raven fp and a Traveller's Notebook. Yes youre right I wont be a millionaire anytime soon, but at least my daily life is more organised. Executing my daily task is a breeze. Thanks for the great video.
This is what I'm starting. Got a watch a month ago, funnily enough a casio duro. But I put on a Bond nato strap. Just ordered a notebook and nice pen a few days ago, so this video was very timely. I'm much more aware of my usage of time now that I wear a watch, and I'm hoping journaling will help me be more aware of progress and goals as well
Excellent old shool habits. Thanks for making the video and God bless you. I hope everone gets more productive after watching this concise but excellent video!😊
The algorithm got me here and I can't agree more. BTW, another great addition to the watch's list would be the MRW-200H-1BV. Very understated model and looks awesome IMO
I started wearing a watch when my dad got me a G-Shock before I went into the military in '17. It's been on my wrist since. I'm not an EDC Pocket Dump Mondays™️ type guy by any measure of the imagination, but I do appreciate my watch. I'd typically check my watch when I didn't have my phone or a clock nearby (so when I was working, working out, in the field, etc) and so I now associate it with work- meaning that I din't break my stream of consciousness when I'm in a meeting/working like I would if I checked my phone (and saw a bunch of notifications). Since I've gotten out of the military I still wear the same watch, even if I'm in a suit, to remind me of all I've done and the person I've grown to be. I'm happy i'm out of the military and I stay far away from the typical bearded guy in a grunt style shirt stereotype, but when I look at my watch I remember the discipline and hard work I learned and exemplified and it's a nice reminder to keep that standard up. This idea isn't new, it's the same idea behind wearing a rosary or a mala. But for folks like me who don't really do the religion thing in that way, it's nice to being you back to an ideal. The same thing could be done in other ways; get the watch Bond wore to remind you to be more like Bond or something like that. And, like everything else, nothing will change without actually changing things. A notebook and a watch are good tools, but without the motivation and consistent effort you'll just be a guy who's unhappy with his life AND who has a notebook and a watch. The only one simple trick/lifehack I've found that works is effort- or, in other words, the best way out is through.
This video is interesting to me not because I think it's correct, but because I think it _isn't_ . I have a watch and a notebook, plenty of people around me do as well. But our productivity varies drastically. I still procrastinate the heck out of everything because I'm apathetic and don't enjoy challenging myself lol. Some of my friends with better mindsets and better habits get by just fine without any secret tricks or shortcuts. I think the basis for why this _can_ work--which you also touched on--is that establishing a habit, any kind of habit, can encourage some people to build on the momentum to acquire yet more habits. The actual contents of the habit don't really matter. Instead of wearing a watch or planning your day, it could be something like making your bed in the morning, setting more reminders on your phone, reading a chapter of a book before sleep, etc. Humans are creatures of routine to some extent, so playing into that by building habits is naturally going to improve your productivity.
Have a digital casio, battery lasted years in a drawer. Also needs new strap. Getting old so forget things more started writing things down, so will give this some thought. Thx
Bro, I love this vid. I'm also a big fan of having watch and notebook. I love the idea that we are more grounded to reality and not mindlessly walking through days. The script perfectly describe the benefit I also experience. I hope you make more vid!
make your own watch... it will send you back like a 100 dollars but you can most definitely make it the way you want with every feature like hands, day, date, dial, numbers, colours, bezel, case colour, strap, everything and you can be satisfied with your creation also you can switch out a part if something happens i have used the 2 watches i built for myself for over an year now and im still in love with them
"You overestimate what you can get done in a day, but underestimate what you can get done in a year" - never heard that before, but love it! My biggest problem with this method was always over-cramming a day and feeling deflated when i didn't achieve everything, that saying sums it up perfectly.

thats a quote from bill gates

Love the GMT movement.
It is a lovely video
This is why I like analogs. I never need the exact time. I want a quick visual reference of where about my day is.
@@oldfartinthenight9201 Solar powered watches are inexpensive compared to mechanical watches. I've got a Citizen Ecodrive which is as accurate as the best mechanical watches.
These are the types of videos , I want to watch when I open TH-cam.

Well said.
Why do you have a comma there?

Well made, takes me back to the old days of TH-cam. No fancy edits-a clear and simple message, said well.
watches have made me realize how time is a force of nature. We are so used to just always seeing the time on our phone or computer screen, but a watch is a little device that grabs on to the stream of time and measures it until it stops. Makes you much more aware of the passage of time.
A watch is a compas but for time
People in here really overestimate an impact a wrist watch can have.
Great comment….Sounds like my life!!!! All the best!!!!
i love when old people comment like this.
Thanks old guy,I don't know you but I hope you enjoy life,as often as possible
That's the spirit brother! keep pushing. Stay hard!
As a watch enthusiast (over 100 pieces) I highly enjoyed this video. Not only was it strangely relaxing, but it brought me back to the core of what I love about watches: our visual partners in time.
Watchmaker and micro machine shop here, welcome to the man jewelry section in our lives. I am smiling here. Lance.
-cheers.
A watch, and a notebook. Simplicity at its finest! Well done!
Thank you YT algorithm for serving up this gem. Great advice. I'll chime in and suggest that you buy the Casio you like and never look at another watch again. You'll save yourself $$$.
Screw that! That mechanical Hamilton Khaki is calling my name xD
Really
@@wardog5537 That's a great watch but the Casio is still my pick.
@@saketpandey8897 Yes, really. I've spent thousands on watches over the years and now I mostly wear a Casio G-Shock.

Casio f91w is the go
Never thought for a watch like that until this video
You nailed the concept of simple and memorable productivity in this video. A few thoughts to add:
This was probably the most valuable 5 minutes and 28 seconds of my week. Thank you bro.
Perfectly summed up!
I use it to write down the tasks i needed to do (laundry, groceries, homework, plans i had for the weekend...) and other stuff like dates, meetings or random lists (like what i want to bring on a suitcase or cooking recipes with ingredients)
I cannot recommend it enough, give it a try and you will find yourself more organized. Dont stress it though, everyone has its system
No one cares whether you comment or not..
@@gaaraofddarknessI care about reading useful comments which this was and I'm sure others do too.
3:17 Yes, writing an itinerary or checklist _the night before_ is important, while the day’s unfinished activities are still fresh in the mind 👍
And, a calendar planner!
I have it too, along with a few Swiss watches. It's way more robust and does not cost you a 600 CHF revision every 5 years.
You sound young. I'm glad to hear that you are realizing the simple solutions that just work. So many younger people dont wear watches and certainly never write anything in a notebook. But those two things will carry you through many complex days. Thumbs up
Yes, more videos about notebooks, pens(fountain, roller), pencils, different sized notebooks, and paper, Desk/office setup, chairs, pocket calendar.
I love it! A young person discovering the old ways of doing things. A watch and a little notebook and pen were all we needed. How I miss it. I do wear a watch. Now, I'm stuck on the smartphone, too. Thanks for reminding me that I'm not stuck. I need a pad and pen.

Unbeatable vibes. Added to my “cozy” list.
Plus I’m inspired to start planning my day the night before.
That got me through many busy weeks and days where the number of tasks were simply a blizzard.
i think this video just changed my life
KT, this is a good video with some sage advice. The only thing I can add since I’m an old man now is, “Remember, Mr. Murphy is always along for the ride.” Which means build in a decent fudge factor in whatever you do.
Great video man, I've gone over to dumb phone, watch, pocket planner and notebook for over a few months now, loving it.
This is very good advice. Plus, watches and notebooks are very satisfying and enjoyable things to use. Thanks for the great video.
This came across my recommended and I didn’t think much of it. But after watching, I’m already planning my day for tomorrow. Life has been chaotic lately. You’ve reminded me that it’s good to have things in writing and planned where possible. Thank you for such great advice. Best of luck on your future endeavors.
I switched from a Apple Watch Ultra 2 to a Mido Multifort Big Date and I‘m using the Journal App on iPhone. Habits can be changed for sure.
I recently purchased an ocean star 39 myself, enjoy that big date.
I got an ultra 2, then ditch my phone when I’m not working. It’s super minimal and makes you feel like you’re back in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
how does wearing a smart watch make you feel like a person from that era ?@@RolandKoller90
The notebook for thoughts, tasks and ride data.
the fact that i have all the 3 watches and they are my favourite wows me
Alternative idea with what to write in your notebook: I call it 5-5-R. In short or long bullets write down:
- 5 things you didn't like about today (do this first because its easy to get your mind going, and get your pen on paper)
- 5 things you liked about today
- Any other remarks, things on your mind
It doesn't matter if the content is the same as what you wrote as yesterday, it doesn't matter how long or short it is.
A video that really tells how simply says how simplicity is better than asthetics.
For me an analogue watch gave me the feeling of how big 15 minutes are. It's like 1/4th of a complete rotation and time it takes to rotate shows me that how many things I can get done. For example I'm a student and I watch lectures. I try to complete 2 lectures (2 hours long each) in 3 hours
And as the chronograph of my watch ticks I feel the urgency to study while also not being too stressed about it.
That's awesome man. Never stop. Keep pushing brother.
I love this advice given with the metropolitan night life!
TRUTH!! i recently became a Engineer through a career change and purchased a watch and hadn't worn one since the 7th grade. I'm 50 now and i love my time mangement with it and my small notebook. content like this is amazing and great. simple and talking about the things no one else does to help everyday life. keep up the great content!
its a mix but a watch and a notebook can truly do wonders if done right
Absolutely OUTSTANDING video !!
You picked the best watch to get things done! This was my first serious watch and is still the most useful to me
I have a white board in my room that I use to do something similar. I'll spend 10~20 minutes on Sunday planning out the major tasks for each day to make sure I'm moving towards my goals. Really helps a lot since I have a tendency to flail around at whatever project is in front of me if I don't have an idea of what I should be doing.
So glad I started Journaling and wearing my watch, just this video encourages me even more
Took a chance and clicked on this…glad I did. That was well said and well done.👍
Judging from your handwriting you're on your way of becoming a doctor, I'm proud of you.
It is nice work and video mate and watches are like heartbeat for any watch enthusiasts
Great video. I started wearing a watch full time a few years back and use a padfolio everyday. The smartphone is obviously a powerful tool, but can become a huge parasite on time. I’ve found life is so much more pleasant and actually more productive when little things like watches, pens and paper keep you off of it.
I dont want to be more productive I want to be happy

I have a Casio dive watch that I have worn and gone diving with for 26 years. Never needed any repairs. What a great return on investment!
So, I told him, “You're just back to carrying a pocket watch like in pre-World War One days.”
It’s amazing how young adults quickly become ‘trapped’ by technology.
USAF, Police, and Newspaper Editor. Wow.
I liked this video and you should make more like it 👍🏼
Thank you for not having a bunch of effects and intro music and using all of the stupid standard TH-cam greetings.
Just a simple video with a simple message that helps and encourages.
This is great I carry the same style notebook! I even made a little pouch for it. I use mine mainly for to-do lists and random ideas or things i need to do that come to me randomly throughout the day.
i would love to see more in details about minimalism even comparing maybe apple watch to a regular watch. Great work!
The Casio duro is the best affordable watch ever.. i wear mine so much. Even upgraded the strap with a nice metal bracelet. Amazing recommendation

Caught my eye. Good video and good tips. Thanks for the perspective on handling task and life.
I'm happy
i'm out of the military and I stay far away from the typical bearded guy in a grunt style shirt stereotype, but when I look at my watch I remember the discipline and hard work I learned and exemplified and it's a nice reminder to keep that standard up.
Thx
@KT Bravo! Originality in action. God bless U.
Bro, I love this vid. I'm also a big fan of having watch and notebook. I love the idea that we are more grounded to reality and not mindlessly walking through days. The script perfectly describe the benefit I also experience. I hope you make more vid!
Simple, efective, genius👍👌✌️
make your own watch... it will send you back like a 100 dollars but you can most definitely make it the way you want with every feature like hands, day, date, dial, numbers, colours, bezel, case colour, strap, everything and you can be satisfied with your creation also you can switch out a part if something happens i have used the 2 watches i built for myself for over an year now and im still in love with them
Please make more such videos. I just watched it once, but listened to it many times. It's like listening to someone's reflections.
