double hitter weekend plus Pelican lounge! and much more! Robert is hard at work entertaining us during this shut down, I can't think of a better guide...who is making it easy to sing along free in my RV...Thanks Robert you are awesome!
Born and raised in MN. Twin Cities are the armpit of the state. If you have the opportunity, you need to return and visit the BWCA and the North Shore of Lake Superior. Absolutely beautiful!
Sorry that you missed Lake Itasca. I was there early one rainy morning, no one else around. Having crossed the river in so many places from New Orleans to Little Falls, MN, it was really awesome to stand there and watch the babbling brook flow north out of the lake. Don't know if you ever drove along the river between northern IL and MN, but it's one of the prettiest drives in the country with steep bluffs along both sides. I hope to travel it again soon.
Thank you for showing the city is a positive light and glad you got the video out last week. Sending sincere prayers to Minneapolis for justice and healing.
Lived in St Paul all my life but have been to the Capital maybe once when I was in grade school. Yes it is beautiful. I've passed it and the Cathedral many times on my bike rides out to Stillwater. Minnesota has some of the best bike trails in the country. Lake Itaska headwaters had a nice one going all around the lake with a stop at an old fire tower. Camp Ground is nice too. Good times!
Watching this in July 2021 while on lockdown in Vietnam. It was a totally brilliant video in every aspect. As an Aussie I have been to the US many times, but your vids are really giving me much fuller insight. I was so surprised to see how beautiful this region was. It must be very different and cold in the winter. You thank me for watching. Let me thank you, Sir, for your really excellent video.
I watched Taiwanese baseball this morning and then turned to my traditional TH-cam Sunday with Traveling Robert and some others. It doesn't get any better than this.
Thank you for getting us interested in state Capitol buildings!! We’ve never really given much thought while traveling to visit them, but we are definitely going to include them from now on! We loved the walks through the Twin Cities!
Hello Robert, Greetings from Yorkshire England. Yet another top video. I really enjoy watching them, they are so amazing. Looking forward to the next. Take care. XX
You missed another huge event on Labor Day weekend when you drove around Mount Pleasant, Iowa. It is called the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion and is a huge steam event. It has a steam railroad that operates during the event along with about 100 steam tractors doing working exhibits over 1000 antique gasoline tractors, 100's of hit and miss engines, horses and horse exhibits, antique cars and lots of other old antiques and events. Even has a concert every night who they get a variety of country talent.
Just so you know I go back and watch your episodes and I watch tons of them over and over I love your self-explanatory ways explaining the video's great presentation:-) thank you
Man....just amazing to see how things were a year ago close to this time now. You were on your summer trip and we were criss crossing the skies in our 182 for the summer; often just a little ways ahead of you.....how times have changed in such a short amount of time. Excellent episode as always.
I recently discovered Traveling Robert and his fabulous videos and music. Like him putting a sticker on each state he visits, I am going to post this comment on all the videos I watch! You da man, Robert!!
Great video! As a native of Minneapolis I really enjoyed your narration and tour of the Twin Cities. Next visit you definitely need to go “Up North” to see Lake Itasca and the Mississippi headwaters. You should also visit the North Shore of Lake Superior, lots of great camping spots and beautiful scenery.
My Hubby and I have been watching and enjoying your videos for a long time. When I saw Hurricane Dorian off the south coast of Florida in the forecast last year I thought of you. Lo and behold it changed it's mind and came up the coast making landfall in Nova Scotia where I live - less powerful by then but still a scary night. ( I just googled it - 160 km per hour winds)
Good morning Robert! Another 5 stars video and documentary! High quality filming! Good narration! Your face is red, sunburn? Funny people in the punk festival haha Can't wait for the next episode! Thank you very much for sharing !
Greetings from Tucson! My husband and I have been enjoying your channel since you were "Road Nomad." Our travel style is eerily similar to yours(sans rv) as we have many of the same interests. It's delightful revisit places we've been, through your lens. I, being born in Minneapolis and raised north of the twin cities, was so excited to watch your video on Minneapolis and St. Paul. THANK YOU! I loved it. It made me proud to be a Minnesota native and I look forward to seeing your visit to the North Star State when you're able to get back "up north."
This episode is magnificently wonderful I love the architectural of that beautiful House of Representatives that place is a work of art I can only imagine the first building of that place and when they cut the Blue Ribbon to open that place when it was first built wow that place is amazing. Beautifully alluring indeed thank you brother Robert for taking time in your life that God has given you to show his people the wonders of his creation may he bless your soul Richly.
Robert, Des Moines also has a wonderful art park, and art all around the area. A wonderful library, a fantastic art museum and so much more. Next visit, you must give Des Moines a little more time. You might also enjoy The Field of Dreams in northeast Iowa and Cedar Rapids also a very interesting city. Love your travelogues.
Great episode ! RE: Hurricane last Labor Day - we were returning from 2 month trip and the Hurricane made us head for Asheville from I-81 instead of continuing to central Fla and stayed 7 days at Asheville East KOA.
thank you for showing off my cities! Peavey Plaza is on Nicollet to but more up on 12th ave that where there are more sculpted water fountains! Its next to the Ordway.
Itasca State park is where the Mississippi river starts. Duluth is a pretty city. Hilly like Sanfransisco Ca. Same thing with the scenic drive along the North shore to Grand Maris Mn which is just before you get to the Canadian border.
"So, let's go EAT. ... Surly Brewery Co. here is supposed to be pretty good." Wonderful combination. Here in Bavaria one bottle of beer equals one slice of (German) bread! So, I hope you did not leave the place hungry. - Thank you very much for your interesting video. Greetings from Bavaria, Germany.
Stillwater is a pretty historic town on the Minnesota Wisconsin border. Elowise and Ray and Marges resort are very nice campgrounds on the south side of sturgeon lake if you want a nice couple day resting place before heading through Duluth. When I was a kid my family owned property on that lake and it's a nice Sandy bottom lake for swiming. Sturgeon lake island has a very cool old wooden bridge to cross it get to it.
You drove right through my childhood hometown, Troy, MO on Hwy 61 heading north from St. Louis to Hannibal. 33:50 about the time you say "it is going to be a dreadful drive". lol
I went there and the cherry 🍒 and the spoon 🥄 was a big draw. The Mary Tyler Moore statue is awesome. Huge tv show when I was growing up. I really like Minneapolis. There’s a Cuban place there to eat. Well there was in 2000. Lol. And I thought Cubans from Connecticut were weird. Lol.
I always love your videos---so well done. BTW my twin and I were visiting Key Largo at this same time. That hurricane played games with Florida. We finally decided to head home early.
The cool thing alot of people don't know about the Mall Of America is that Met Stadium sat on that land...where the Twins and Vikings played until they moved into the Metrodome (which was also demolished and is now impressive US Bank Stadium)
Soy de argentina y desde acá quiero agradecerte qué nos permitas viajar y explorar tantos lugares increíbles! Tu narrativa es muy entretenida, gracias.....
Minneapolis was bigger than I thought. Some strange sculptures in that garden. I’m glad the hurricane changed course. Would have been a shame to have to drive back in such a hurry. ❤
In a very serendipitous time in 1991 I attended the first Lollapalooza in St Paul which is juxtaposed against Minneapolis in a most exuberant manner, good sir.
Mounds park in St Paul MN has ancient Native American burial mounds as well as a bluff that over looks the Downtown St. Paul Skyline and Mississippi river. Minnehaha falls is a regional park on the Minneapolis St. Paul Border. Sheppard rd. Goes along the Mississippi river in St. Paul.
Loved the bonus episode and Sunday episode . I was in Minneapolis years ago and went to the mall of America, very impressive! The capital building in St.Paul was amazing. Love the channel! 🍷😀🇺🇸
Do you remember where you camped in Minnesota? I live about an hour south of the twin cities and was just curious how close you were. I really hope you get a chance to visit northern Minnesota sometime soon. It really is beautiful! Keep up the great work!
John Quarles of nearby Florida, Missouri had a huge farm, and young Samuel Clemens used to love visiting his favorite Uncle John (his Uncle by marriage) there on the farm. In fact, the farm was Sam's inspiration for the Adventure of Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn. Fun fact: John Quarles is the brother of my GGG Grandfather, William Pennington Quarles.
Greetings Robert from Hannibal, Mo. Yup this is where I live. As one cross's the Mississippi into Illinois on I-72 the exit at mile post 1 is where I get off the interstate to head to my farm. I want to wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.
We had an overnight in Minneapolis this summer, and only stopped at Mall of America which was almost deserted, many stores closed etc. due to Covid and the Protests. All of the attractions were closed. Agree with the “Been there done that” factor. Hoping to visit again and see more when times get better.
I have been to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Such an amazing place. One day I would go back to visit and tour around this place. Keep up the good work Sir. 🙏❤️
ya my sister lives a few blocks from St Paul capital she is Minnesota state senator Sandy Pappas.. she has been to Cuba a couple times.. And my brother lives in Florida so we've been to Miami many times
I never knew Minneapolis and St. Paul is so beautiful, another place to put on the bucket list! Thanks Robert!

Robert!! These videos are my go to for relaxation and chill time. You have become the Morgan Freeman of voice over TH-cam
I know I'm not the only one who starts singing the "song" as soon as I see a new video posted...
My wife knows when I'm watching because she hears me singing the title song.

I went there mid August. It was like 120 degrees. Just before the hurricane.
Great episode !

Enjoyed this as I always do. Have visited Minneapolis/St Paul multiple times but never the sculpture garden. It is on my list. Thanks so much.
Mark Twain was my father's favorite author and whom I was named after. He was one of a kind.

Also the IKEA store by the Mall was once Met Center where the North Stars played until they left town for Dallas
Have you ever visited Brookgreen Gardens near Myrtle Beach, SC? The sculpture garden reminded me of Brookgreen.

Paul.

If you like cool bridges the Robert Street Bridge is a very cool looking bridge that crosses the Mississippi river in St. Paul.
