I visited Chicago for 2 action packed days at the end of summer and it was awesome! The weather was perfect and it was not crowded! Saw just about everything and walked a lot but also used Uber and the train. Saw a museum, Cubs game, and explored navy pier. Perfect trip. I know there’s more to do but we really saw a lot of it and if I never make it back it was a very memorable trip! Clean city and I love the river going thru the city
Phew… That’s a lot of steps! A walking tour of epic proportions… I am truly impressed and absolutely captivated by the beauty of this cityscape, what an effort to put this together. Love the bits of history, too. Excellent episode, and I imagine a ride on the Zephyr Train from this city would be amazing. Thank you, and bravo👏
Hello Robert Congratulations on all that walking! Native from Chicago here. I remember the days when Navy Pier was just a fishing pier. We used to drop nets and go smelt fishing there. I remember when you paid a couple of bucks to go to the lookout at the Sears tower and the John Hancock. The best way to see Chicago is walking or if you want to see all the neighbors run the marathon. I run it 5 times. The last time 20 years ago. Looks like you can train for it. Great video!
Fabulous tour of Chicago. We loved the architecture tours and boat tour several years ago. It was great to revisit the top spots with you. Thank you! Sandy & Fred
You showed us all that in ONE DAY in Chicago?? I salute you again, Sir Robert!! I don’t know where you disappeared to from my TH-cam for a few months, but I am glad I was able to find you in my recommends again today. Well done!!
Born and raised a Chicagoan, now we're in the western suburbs, once a year in the summer we drive down and ride the water taxis all day long, we were down there last Labor day weekend, wonderful video!
Goooood morning, Robert, thanks for the virtual tour of the windy city! As you've shown it's fantastic to walk around and soak up the architectural scenery and big city vibe.Speaking of fiberglass cows, they did the same thing in San Luis Obispo, you can still see the statues at various places around the county. See ya next time...happy trails!
Geez! That ledge on the Willis Tower scared the crap out of me! I seriously had to look away from the screen! Aside from that, another great video, Robert. Thanks!
Wow, 14-mile walk. I was never sure about a visit to Chicago but your video has made me add it to my list of things to do. TY as always for your hard work.
I have been deep cleaning my house and closets and icky garage lol! I came on here to give this video a like, but tomorrow, I'm gonna treat myself to watching this on my tv to reward all my hard work on my house!
21,000 step's, no wonder my feet hurt when I there in 1976. age 20..We walked all day from the McCormick to Sears Tower. It's still the most Beautiful city that I've ever seen.. Wonderful video!! I vote Yes a Train ride would be fun!
Nice to walk around the city with you this morning, Robert...you sure covered a lot of ground!. This brings back memories of visiting Chicago in the early aughts (back when you could get a room at the Palmer House on Priceline for $55). The Sky Deck experience is very cool, they've upgraded quite a bit since I was there,. Love the view from The Ledge!
The beauty of RV travel in North America. We can visit the lakes, the mountains, the prairies, the oceans and the big cities. Certainly would not want my RV travel to be exclusively to big cities, but we definitely enjoy including a couple of cities to explore every time we take and extended trip. Continued safe travels...
Enjoy your journey through the City of Chicago. The portion of the video was the most enjoyable to me. Well done Robert. I live here in the suburbs of Naperville, IL. Now you are in Gary Indiana. Home of the Jackson Family. Bless you my friend Travelling Robert. Love your ending music.
Nice video. My husband & I moved from the Chicago suburbs to southwest Florida in July. That was a wonderful tour of our old home. I cannot believe you walked nearly 15 miles!!! Next time you are in Chicago, I recommend visiting the Art Institute, one of the two world class zoos, and catching a game at Wrigley Field. Also, I recommend stopping for lunch at Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket on Rte 66. It is located in Willowbrook, our home for 35 years, and was featured in "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." And the Rte 66 Museum in Pontiac, IL is outstanding.
Went to Chicago, stayed at the Congress Plaza (shown with the Buckingham Fountain) and jumped on Amtrak to Seattle. Great trip. Thanks for this Chicago video. I'll have to re visit.
Great tour of Chicago! Was glad you checked out Union Station. Yes, you should definitely take a long distance train trip, something I also need to do again. When I was in Chicago many years ago Union Station was the in between point on my long distance train trip. I had a few hours to explore some of the areas you visited. Another really good video and look forward one day to seeing you on the California Zephyr!
I was going to say 31st was your best bet, going north is much longer walk that puts you in front of the museum. That walking distance with poor walking access is why that area is a safe place to have your RV within the city. That's the trade off.
How cool !! I was there with my family week after you. Nice to watch that we toured some of the same places. We stayd at Hilton, ofcourse. And we drove 3 states, +20 cities, Indiana dynes and so on..
We took the last tour of the season on the architectural tour in December when we went for our anniversary. They had Nickel beers. It was cold but we were dressed for it. No crowds. Its really pretty in the winter with all the decorations and the ice skating parks.
Well, another great informative video. Thank You Robert. We didn't know about the McCormick Center. We camped in Joliet and took the train into the city. We ha a pleasant trip, but could have saved some time using McCormick. As you often say, maybe next time. Loved the architectural river tour. Chicago Pizza definitely beats Florida Pizza LOL
The California Zephyr is a land cruise through some of the best scenery the U.S. has to offer. The Coast Starlight north out of LA is the only real competition (north because the southbound train is often late and you miss the best Pacific Ocean views)... As for stations, LA's is simply beautiful, DC's is a favorite of mine, and there's a new station in NYC called Moynihan Train Hall, at 8th and 33rd, across from Madison Square Garden...
Addendum...to get a feel for the train experience, watch a few of Jeb Brooks' Amtrak videos...There are often some unfortunate delays, not always Amtrak's fault. I have done at least a dozen long-distance trips and only two with issues. My train hit two trees once and spent almost eight hours crawling slowly thru North Carolina. And then there was the barge that hit a bridge, and passengers were offered a 12-hour bus ride from San Antonio to New Orleans. I chose a taxi to the airport and flew home to Florida!
I did an online search and found that the police are keeping alcohol off the beach by searching bags. The commenter that I read said his friend had four beers in her bag, and the police said they could drink them right there and then but not take them to the beach. Apparently allowing alcohol and the trash it generates has been a problem.
Robert, that’s an impressive walking tour you did! You really hit all the highlights. If you and Illy ever get a chance to check out a performance at the Civic Opera, I highly recommend the experience at this venue 😊
Life long Chicagoan here. We do have a great city, but somehow we are governed by idiots. Hopefully someday soon we will be back to glory days. Great video as usual Robert 👍
Robert what a walking tour!! You definitely got your steps in. I didn’t realize that Chicago was that nice. My wife keeps telling me she wants us to go and I been like I don’t think so with all the bad media but I believe it would be a nice trip just have to get some new sneakers and $$$ to go. Thanks Rob! “See you on the road!”
Good video of chicago; we have done all those things. But wanted to give you a tip on the California Zephyr. We did do the CZ but from west to east to chicago. I think the best route is CZ from chicago to emeryville because of the Big 10 curve views west of denver and being able to see this climb into the Rockies during the daylight
If I recall, you were there about a week before we were. I think I watched your live stream from there. It was back in July. I wish I could have seen this before we went. You are a much better tour guide than the one we had (me). I was wanting to see the Trump Tower, but we never got the chance. We stayed at the McCormick Convention Center for a pharmacy convention. The Field Museum is a wonderful attraction, if you have never been.
My home town, grew up in the burbs west of the city, best food in the world in Chi town. Next time visit the Palmer house hotel, amazing architecture...........
As a Chicago native and having watched a previous video or 2 of your visits, I was rooting for you to find the pedestrian exit this time. 😁 The tunnel at 2:15 in your video exits out the other side to Soldier Field. It is not dangerous. Bears fans use ‘Moe Drive’ to get to games after tailgating in that parking lot. It could sometimes be closed if there’s a big event at McCormick place. There’s even a train stop on the other side.
Oh no. You had to open your bag. That must have traumatic. Anyway, thank you for the tour. I live north of Chicago near Wisconsin but enjoy this city and Milwaukee immensely.
The 360 Chicago was John Hancock-tower when I visited the city in 2001. I proposed my nowadays ex-wife in observer deck of Sears-tower. Just waiting you to come back to visit Finland again. Tero
Really enjoyed your Chicago video this morning. You mentioned a Route 66 trip several times, if you want any suggestions or a tour guide where you are in central Oklahoma send me a message.👍🏻
At 21:31, you walk directly in front of Roberts Pizza and Dough Company-it's the best New York-style pizza in Chicago, a must-try! And it has your name! Sit at the outside patio on the riverfront for great views.
Robert I don't know if you've heard. Atlanta has approved what's called, The Stitch. It's app. 1 1/2 mile section of I85/I75 north downtown. From Atlantic Station south past Georgia Tech. The highway is going to be covered as a park like area with a couple of cross roads. Should be nice!
If you decide to take Amtrak remember one thing the freight comes first people come second don't be in a hurry if you do the merchant building at night they have artist play shining on that building at night
Amtrak recently sued freight companies that wouldn’t let them pass first (which was the original deal) they won and will be expanding to more cities. I rode from Alabama to New Orleans and we actually made it there a hour ahead of time.
Hey! You have driven in Spain, Traveling Robert can travel now any where in the United States with a trailer and not get the "white knuckle syndrome"! We have confidence in YOU so go out there and tear up the roads; next time, visit Vietnam while pulling a trailer but please leave ur wife at home 😂 If you could do that in Vietnam u will be able to drive through any cities in the World, and you will probably get another 100,000 subscribers but do it safely cause we love you Robert!
I remember going to Chicago at a very young age, my first big city and also I left my favorite doll in the Sears Tower lol...I've always wanted to go back and visit but I live in Phoenix now so not sure if that will ever happen again. We also visited the really great and gigantic science museum by the lake, if you haven't been, maybe check it out one day. I salute Robert's legs for taking one for the team so we could enjoy Chicago for a day.
You the man robbby!
Chicago is one of the only cities I truly enjoy getting out and walking for miles. Great exploration, Robert!
I visited Chicago for 2 action packed days at the end of summer and it was awesome! The weather was perfect and it was not crowded! As a 70 year old making TH-cam videos fixing junk same as I did as a kid. Channels like this have been a huge help! A very relaxing experience
I often wondered what that city is like, so thank so much for taking us there, with Roberto as our guild! Thanks, bro!
Thank you Robert, always love Chicago, such a beautiful city, my favourite in US, yes a must to do the Architectural Boat tour 👏🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Arts, music, food, architecture, we have it all 🥰 thank you very much for visiting and appreciating this great city 👍
downtown chicago is truly beautiful ......great video robert👍👍👍

Wonderful Chicago ❤ thx for the look back. Started there on entire 66 in May 2022 and felt in love with Chicago.
Thank you for taking us on a tour of this beautiful city.

Chicago is a very great city in the great lakes

also, next time you're in Chicago, go to the Chicago pumping company. Where you can get a pizza pot pie. Because imo, the place you went is meh.
Also, those boats at ohio beach call that area the playpen.
Nice episode!

You effectively walked from Sweetwater to Miami Lakes.

I love your travel videos,it’s great and very informative and interesting and inspiring…Makes want to travel more…❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Excellent drone views!

Chicago 2.0, awesome video! by the way I will soon be there later this month. God willing.
I enjoyed the 2016 video, welcome back in 2024.
Robert, that’s an impressive walking tour you did! You really hit all the highlights. If you and Illy ever get a chance to check out a performance at the Civic Opera, I highly recommend the experience at this venue 😊

State Street is very cool to walk.
Life long Chicagoan here.
We do have a great city, but somehow we are governed by idiots. Hopefully someday soon we will be back to glory days.
Great video as usual Robert 👍
Wow… I hope you enjoy it. Will watch from Florida also.
Chicago suits your style of camera work very well.
My Hometown ~ 20 +years in FLA now. A great City Enjoyed I hope!!

It was really good, maybe a little small

ive always luved the way chicago looked.
Oh no. You had to open your bag. That must have traumatic. Anyway, thank you for the tour. I live north of Chicago near Wisconsin but enjoy this city and Milwaukee immensely.
Im not a city person but that view from the tower was amazing.
Welcome to Chicago Robert. Personally, I’m very proud of our city, but I would never take my RV Downtown.
Hello 👋 from Chicago ❤
I took the train from the airport into the city, and then from downtown to the Cubs ballpark. Pretty easy to use
Gary, Indiana, like the song in the musical “Music Man!”
L'Ya Chicago.......See ya soon.......AGAIN.......
The 360 Chicago was John Hancock-tower when I visited the city in 2001. I proposed my nowadays ex-wife in observer deck of Sears-tower. Just waiting you to come back to visit Finland again. Tero
I like the train idea. They have trains with car carriers like ferries. Maybe they haul campers too...
Really enjoyed your Chicago video this morning. You mentioned a Route 66 trip several times, if you want any suggestions or a tour guide where you are in central Oklahoma send me a message.👍🏻
Sounds good. I hear Tulsa is great
@ I can give some suggestions there too.
my city

At 33:00 you are looking directly at the patio! You will love this pizza place, one of the best in Chicago.

I miss being in TheBig City of Chicago and seeing the people and the skyline and the streets…
And I bet the architectural tour at night would be awesome

@Williejefferson639 I did not know that thank you for the update
Recommend the California Zephyr earl spring or beginning of fall
Hey! You have driven in Spain, Traveling Robert can travel now any where in the United States with a trailer and not get the "white knuckle syndrome"! ❤
I live in Ft Wayne In. I go to all the places you speak or. Gary. Chicago and Shipshewanna
Birds and statues. Commanding views.
You should do a route 66 tour on your spring or summer trip 2025.
We have a Lou Malnati's here in the Milwaukee area. It's good but my favorite is Giordano's. You get a really big salad if you order one.
What a beautiful city! Those shrieking protests were annoying, though. Sound pollution! Otherwise, fantastic video!
I think you would have enjoyed seeing the stairs from 'the untouchables' in Union Station.
Maybe next time
Me and my wife watch you all the time. Love your videos stay safe!
The reason they have to check bags is because crime has increased greatly there, cities like that, San Francico, ETC have had a great increase both in petty crimes like stores being robbed and a high murder rate, ESPECIALLY in Chicago...I think it's become the #1 om the US....sad to see these cities fall from their once great atmosphere.... hopefully the bad laws will get retracted soon and they maybe can return to their former glory.
You should try 76 into Philadelphia if you like camper city driving.
Good morning from dunnellon Florida 😂
I would enjoy seeing the cross country train ride on Amtrack!
Maybe next year
