Thanks Haji. This is one of the best tutorials on the theory behind tuning. Your visual chart was a huge help. The way you explained it was also awesome. Thanks again.
I have two, one in .22 for two years now and recently bought a .25. I really like these things. I do wonder about resealing at later date. I own other PCP's , C02 ,springers and multi pumps. I cannot find anything online about fixing leaks or even how to get to the poppet valve. I would like to do my own repairs in the future and We know that eventually they will need repair. Thanks for the great video, I just hope that these are not "disposable air rifles.
Nova Vista is due for a BULLPUP next. I love how they are listening to the market. BTW after buying the Caldwell Turret gun rest/vise, my lead sled and stinger are collecting dust. Love this review. Well done.
Thanks I just purchased one based on your information that you presented ,I only paid three hundred and I think that's a great deal I am very satisfied with this gun ,thank you for your review
@@joshuagibson2520 I found the origin at academy sports on there website and paid for it online and picked it up at their store in opalika Al , for 299 it's a good deal and you get the pump with it I am very satisfied with the purchase ,God bless
@@joshuagibson2520 you are correct about the speed of the pellet out of the box it was shooting 14.3 grain pellets to fast I could have turned it down but I just went with some 17 grain pellets by hatson and it shoots great I have only 40 yards in the back to shoot out of ten shots two or three will go in the same hole that's pretty good for me I am used to a break barrel
Hey Haji great video. I'm torn between this and the Barra 1100z. A couple videos show the Barra making a very strange noise with every shot. Can you tell me is the cocking lever on the Origin made of metal? Appreciate any info!
I would like to see you do a video on the air airventure Avenger the shot string was really interesting to me you really did a thorough good job on that I would like to see that with a regulated gun
I just bought one of these and found that after my first magazine that I had two pellets get stuck in the barrel. I pushed them out with a cleaning rod and resumed shooting. 15 shots later the same thing happened so after clearing the barrel this time I cleaned the barrel with a brush and a bit of oil on a cotton cloth. I didn't experience the problem again. Did you have anything similar happen? Otherwise - by the way - the rifle was amazing. My first PCP after 50 years of various springers. Thanks for the excellent review!
I had the same problem 3, maybe 4 times and the magazine was stuck in the breech also. I finally figured out what was going on. In my case operator error. Make sure when you cock the gun you are pulling the lever fully back till it clicks and stays open. I believe I was not pulling it fully on the first pull, pulled part way and pulled again. At this point you have loaded two pellets and a PITA to get out
@@79ltd That is very interesting! I suspect I did something similar because after I started paying attention It stopped happening. I appreciate your review and your perspective. Thanks again!
@@Paul-wy2wk I really was frustrated as I had to pry the magazine out with a wide blade screwdriver and when it came out the pellet was almost cut in half. I couldn't push the pellet back all the way with the cleaning rod as the magazine was blocking the exit. Once I realized I was only pulling the lever 90% I stopped, took out the magazine and fired. Yea there was already a pellet in the chamber even though it seemed it wasn't loaded yet. Shot the pellet with the mag removed and started over. I think what is happening is as soon as you pull the lever half back the magazine moves and the pellet is ready to load. If you release the lever at all before it clicks and locks back the pellet is loaded even though the gun is not ready to fire. I'm like you, break barrels for more than 55 years and the pcp thing is new to me. Now that I figured out my error I love this gun. Going to try adjusting the hammer this weekend.
@@79ltd Well, I had the same issue but was able to work the magazine out. Sounds like I did exactly the same thing as you.....I just wasn’t smart enough to diagnose the real cause. Anyway, I am grateful for your willingness to share your experience on this. I will have time to shoot my gun this weekend and will be paying particular attention to all of these points. Again, many thanks for your wisdom on this!
@@79ltd So, I shot the gun today and was very aware of this issue. Now that I know what's happening I didn't have the double feed problem. I would have because I made the same mistake again but I was aware and was able to recover before loading a second pellet. I can't thank you enough for the insights that made this so much more clear. So now, another issue. I noticed that my rifle always grouped well but the groupings moved consistently left, especially as the tank got closer to 2000 psi or so. Always good groups... just easing left as the pressure lowered. Is that normal?
Field target? Because you did not list budget as a consideration I would Say Avenger then the Origin. The Avenger is regulated and that is also adjustable which gives far more adjustability to operate with in the limits of F&T rules.
Loved the review. Questions though, Why did you turn down the hammer? The literature from the manufacturer reads 1075 fps. All the reviews I've seen of actual field testing have been in the 800 to 900 fps range telling me the rifle is not being used to it's full power capacity as claimed in the literature. Why is that? Why are all field demonstrations being done at a lower fps? I understand the shot string is important but it seems to me you're giving up a lot of power by lowering the hammer just to achieve more shots. I'd like to see the Origin maxed out and testing done with various pellets and see the shot strings. What about fpe? I haven't seen two chronys being used to show the fpe at the target, unless I missed it. To me fpe out of the barrel really doesn't mean all that much. If I'm shooting targets it's one thing but if I'm shooting game it's an entirely different thing. I'd like to know the stopping power fpe at my target. Again, your review is great. I've watched every review online of the Origin I can find. I bought the Origin about a month ago and haven't fired it due to living in Massachusetts where the restrictions are so absurd I'm actually rejoining a gun club just to be able to shoot. Times have changed for sure considering as a kid we used to run around shooting daisey pumps at each other in the woods. A couple of things you can possibly help me out with if you would? All I've done thus far is pick up a Bushnell scope, there's a couple of things I want to do where if you could give me some input it will be greatly appreciated. I'd like to add a sights to shoot without the scope, BUT, for the front sight I'd like a barrel band with the sight attached, Do you know if one exists that will work with the Origin? I also want to add a Picatinny rail to the forestock for bipod usage, and also add sling mounts, the makeup of the Origin is of composite material. I don't want to drill into it to find it just flakes apart. Any advice on drilling into a composite material as apposed to wood? Again thanks, I find your reviews very professional and informative.
All the reviews I have seen have not stated whether they have dialed down the hammer or not other than Haji. Most of the weapons I have seen in reviews never live up to the stated fps, so for me on this rifle 850 to 900 fps is good. Like he stated and demonstrated, depending on pellet weight he was trying to find the most consistent shot string. Unlike his mine was set to full power out of the box but I found it shot better and pumped up easier with the hand pump dialed down to his settings. I have shot multiple pellet brands and weights and from what I can tell all have done good. I don't have a chronograph so I am basing this on personal opinion
I just got my origen great gun ,based on this review I turned the hammer pressure down to get better accuracy with the crossman 14.3 grain pellets it made it perfect ,thanks for the great video
As others said 830 - 950 is the sweet spot and where you want to be. Above that you lose significant stability of the projectile and accuracy. Esp at 50 yards and farther. If all you shoot is 20 yards maybe 1000+fps might work fine. Sounds like you've bought into the fps hype though. For the best accuracy, higher fps is not your friend.
AVS Air Gun Slugs 32-35 ft-lb of energy H&N slug hp 35 ft-lb of energy those were the 2 with the highest energy not sure if that's just because of the power curve thought

As always Haj GREAT. I especially like the shot string science, and my wine glass is not even empty yet. How bout some more. Keep em comin!👍
Seems like the sheer number of shots you get from a fill is the big advantage of the Origin?
