Great vidi0 it helped allot thanks
Thanks guys. You seriously show me how to do anything on my truck. 2000 ram 1500 5.9 I'm a 29 yr old female with a retired mechanic as a dad. So your videos make it possible to fix my only truck I have that I've worked hard for. Don't have a lot of money 🤑 so you guys have literally taught me some awesome shit on here. Wish I could meet you guys in person.im forever grateful for these videos . I'd be lost and without a running truck lmao.
This is by far the best video I have seen showing where and how to replace this sensor. Thank you!

Going from underneath is father and easier.
Best video of replacing the crank position sensor I've seen so far.
Thank you for this video. Just did this repair yesterday and I used your technique. Your channel is great man.
How long did it take?
Good video. Definitely remove the bolt securing the transmission dip stick. It gives you more room to remove the sensor. And be ready wrestle the sensor out of the rubber grommet. This video shows him removing the sensor oh so easy but it is not that easy. It takes at least 30 to 40 minutes to get the job done after taking about another 30 to 40 minutes looking at it from every angle😂
+Miguel Montanez Thanks for the feedback!
You can get to it very easy underneath without doing all that and manuals don't have dipsticks
@@shonnpowers894 lol obviously I was talking about an automatic 🤦🏻♂️
Good job . It’s so helpful having someone hold the camera and film it for you. The camera angles are awesome. Thank you for the video post.
👍😎👍This is the #1 best how to video for replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor(CPS) in a 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 1500 p/u.🏆 I'm replacing mine right now. Had it unbolted but need to see the correct way to pull it out.
just watched the P0420 video O2s replaced didn't fix so I came back to this one. And good video - thank you no one wanted to help me to do this, said it was too difficult - much appreciated
quick tip....remove the splash shield and you can have better access from the side...you can reach in with a 1/4 ratchet and 1/2" socket...the bolts also have an allen head on the top
I have t6he same truck and have been trying to get a mobile mechanic. to come to my house to remove and replace the sensor . My truck is non- drivable and I usually do my own repairs , but in this case I cannot do because of a herniated disc in my back and a umbilical hernia in my stomach , so this pretty much counts me out to achieve this. Having it towed to a shop is money I don have because limited social security income . Thanks for the video.
Did you have to remove the distributor to get in there? I'm having difficulty getting the top nut out, I have the bottom one loose
Great video, since I do believe my '95 Dodge might need the same.
The sensor you took out looks brand new!
Thank you for explaining difference location from Cam sensor area.
I like your style bud thanks 🙌👍
Would a bad crank sensor stall out the engine mid run? Then turn over but not start?
Yes
My 95 Ram 1500 would act up after I drove it for about 15 minutes. (Especially if I drove it then stopped somewhere for 10 -;20 minutes then started driving again). Sometimes it would hesitate and stumble. Sometimes it would just die like flipping a light switch off. Changed the crank sensor,.... problem solved.
mine would start but idle rough now and then but then smooth out....did all the normal tune up stuff and it drove me crazy....woiuld not start in my driveway and it was the crank sensor...i always thought they would just die all at once and not go slowly...
muchas gracias , good job my save my life , good video ademas muy claro , thank you , muchas gracias .

That dude holds a camera like my son holds a flashlight under the hood lol
Hey do u push it beside the block or center it up
Thank you for helpfull video! I just had a problem with putting of socket on the upper bolt. Wasn't a space because part of cylinder head is too close by the bolt head. Fortunately the bolt head has a cup for 6 mm allenkey. And I removed a bolt from AT dip stick holder (14 mm wrench).
Thanks for this great video. My wire to the sensor broke off while off roading.

Came across your video thinking this is what I need to do, I'm wondering what is the total time that it took you to swap this out ?
One of the toughest little boogers on planet earth to replace.
For real
I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 motor 5.2 It camera out with this codes 920 and 921 and 950 and 999 and nobus what can it be can you please help me?

Do you have a video of the 95-96 dodge dakota v6 3.9l crankshaft sensor replacement?
+serDragon This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I replaced my the crankshaft sensor on my 98 dodge ram 1500 5.9l and still saying intermittent loss of crankshaft sensor. Itll start and run but its having a loud noise where the cranskshaft sensor at everytime i speed up and its missfiring. But its in only saying its the crankshaft sensor. Help please?
Pull it back out and inspect it. Its probably hitting the crankshaft.. Meaning u probably put it in crooked..
Did you use an OEM sensor or an aftermarket sensor? From what I've read,... these motors don't like after market sensors.
@@BST-lm4po true..i had a autozone one die after only 5k miles...get oem or at least the better brand one....
Is this in the exact same spot as the 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 v8 5.2 sport?
i can't find mine.
5.9 and 5.2 are basically the same motor so yes..
I was looking for this info for my 93, it looks to be the same, maybe the 93 doesn’t have enough space between the engine and firewall is the difference. I don’t really know.
I replaced the crank sensor on my 2000 dodge ram 2500 4x4 5.9L gas. Plus replaced the pickup coil (cam shaft sensor) along with distributor cap and rotar Everthing is fine except I now have a faint ticking or arcing noise. Please help!!
Thank you very helpful
Thanks you very much appreciated
wow. anyway to get it from underneath??
trying to do this with my truck i just can't seem to reach far enough maybe i have too long of an extension and not enough swivels i bought the swivel head sockets today and a very long extension hopefully tomorrow is better weather so i can attempt it then. messed with it again and it looks like mine are not noraml hex head bolts but allen head bolts which means another trip to harbor freight to return the crap i just bought and hire someone else to do it!
Just FYI 2002 Dodge Ram crankshaft position sensors are under the back of the block and are completely different
Is the sensor itself different? And where is it located?
Do manual transmissions have them and what do they do
+IHeal AVABEL Yes, manual transmissions will have a crankshaft position sensor. This informs the vehicle's computer of the current position of the crankshaft in the engine.
@@1AAuto my truck is a 94 dodge with the 5 speed and from first to 2 it will back fire badly and down shifting the back fires like a lambo, timing is on point has new tune up on it but still does it
Can u go from underneath the truck to remove the sensor
Caleb Steen I did. It’s easiest to take off the left fender well for more clearance
If you have long skinny arms you can.
I did it from under truck with a lot of extensions put together and a swivel or two
Truck starts up fine and drives everything is perfect .....and then BAM😢 2 minutes into the drive it starts sputtering and spitting and wanting to choke itself out I have to limp back home jerking and hopping and lurching all the way home😢 any ideas🤔
Could be the EGR valve. That happened to me. A cold engine ran fine, soon as it got up to temp, it would run rough and want to stall.
Wheres the grommet to keep debris oil grime and water out?
Did those bolts have 1/4 inch allen fittings in them?
mine did...wish i had known that..1 hour later lol
Whole you make a video of 95 ram Laramie with the egr tube going across it

Quick question does the crank sensor plug into the shortest plug from the harness or the longest? Please let me know ASAP I'm working on one as I take your advice
+ALD Stokes The crank sensor itself should be the sensor that has the large bracket attached to it. There is one crank sensor on the vehicle. We would not be able to say based on harness length as it may differ from production year.
It's a 1996 dodge ram 5.2 liter if that helps, too explain even further. It has those two plugs on the driver side both male ends with wire separators. From the harness of course. Any more thoughts?
Cambie el sensor de posision y ya prende pero ahora al aselerar ase como si estubiera fuera de tiempo
What size is the bolt when dodge used TORX?
Same for 1992?
What are the signs of bad crank sensor
Signs of a faulty crankshaft position sensor include issues starting the vehicle, intermittent stalling, and the Check Engine Light coming on. Eventually vehicle won't start at all.
good video
Thanks
How do you know the crank position sensor and not some other sensor is why your vehicle won't start or throws a Pcode?
p0320 is usually bad crank sensor.....always check fuel presssure and spark first though..
Is this sensor easily damaged when replacing the transmission? I am getting a code for the crank position sensor shortly after replacing my transmission
Look to see if picked wire between tran and mot
Pinched
I have a 99 Ram 1500 with a random misfire and no check engine light and I hope this is not my problem😂
We changed the camshaft sensor and now the truck wont start at all. Please help!!! 98 dodge ram 2500 v8
+S. S We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
You need a oem sensor
Great video, but your video has the rubber boot removed off crank case already and that is where my fun begain
+james stublen Thanks for watching. Buy the part in this video on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Can you do this from under the truck and see it?
What happens if ur rubber boot falls in to the tranny bell housing
I do it by going underneath. No need for working blind. Takes me less time than laying on my truck
It looks Like it can be done from underneath easier.
Exhaust is in the way.
What code will this sensor throw?
the truck didn’t throw any codes for me
P1391 crankshaft position sensor
P1391
P1698
mine was a p0320
No videos on how to remove the transmission dipstick.

Went through wheel well much easier
So what is the symptom?
+SCB RJB Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Crankshaft Position Sensor
Issues Starting the Vehicle.
Intermittent Stalling.
Check Engine Light Comes On.
Uneven Acceleration.
Engine Misfires or Vibrates.
Rough Idle and/or Vibrating Engine.
Reduced Gas Mileage.
I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 4x4 the code reader says the camshaft sensor is bad but I can't find the part at the auto store but when I looked it up on Ebay it says the crankshaft and the camshaft sensor is the same part can anyone help me
+Stephen Afeman The key difference between the camshaft and the crankshaft is the camshaft regulates fuel flow and powers, while the crankshaft converts power to forward motion. The camshaft makes sure the valves function the way they were designed to function. Have you tried looking on partsgeek.com?
Orilleys auto parts has it or order it on amazon
Part# cr150 at autozone magnetic pickup coil aka cam sensor inside the distributor
@@shawnthaxton1663 yep, I just ended up replacing the entire distributor. Got it cheaper than the cam sensor.
Stephen Afeman- no. Two different sensors.. even physically. He didn't mention it, but you (and I) would be wise changing both cam AND crank sensors. The cam one is inside the distributor cap- and DON'T pinch the wires when you put the distrib cap back on after you change it!
What problem does this fix exactly?
+Justin Plew Thank you for checking us out! This will fix an engine that runs rough or stalls. While this isnt the only component that may cause this issue, typically replacing this will be the start to getting everything back in working order.
Dude I've tried every way known to man and it wont work. I'm ready to give up...
Follow this video. It’s the best way. Remove the bolt on the transmission dipstick. It will give you more room to wrestle the sensor out of the rubber grommet and room for removing the bolts
+Miguel Montanez Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Anyone knows what’s wrong with my 01 ram 1500 i posted a video on this channel
He never mentioned the rubber grommet around the sensor so there’s a piece of rubber in my transmission now but I’m sure it’s fine
+Sam 420 Thanks for the feedback!
At least show the part in your hand!
Dude
Just go from underneath
What a pain in the fucking ass. I love mopar and dodge but geezus. I don't know what going on. I have to replace my distributer cap every year. Not sure what keeps causing it to fail. Just put a brand new one on and still not getting fire. I'm thinking this sensor may be the solution
My Ram doesn’t have one of those?
+Carry on Thanks for watching! If your vehicle is in the fit list then you should have have. Please check out the details in our listing: www.1aauto.com/*/i/1AECS00010?TH-cam&GfkjUjz264k
I replaced my sensor now my truck wont start sputters and back fires any idea?
did you figure out what it was or what happend ???
Yes I ordered a aftermarket sensor through advanced it was 65 dollars my truck did not like it at all I cleaned the connections and put the original back in and had no issues until yesterday I was going 65 then my truck kept turning off and on like a light switch
It then was throwing a" no bus" code.so I unplugged it and plugged it back in then no issues.i just ordered an oem sensor I'll update if it works good or not
Truck loved the oem sensor do not my aftermarket .and it is a "no bus" code culprit.
