Sick hoodie, when’s the preorder
I would do preorders if this comment got 20 likes. Anyone actually interested in merch?
The raw film style was good mate. It gave off a bit of atmosphere and felt like we were there for the ride. Good production values have their merits, but sometimes if it's too polished, it can affect that feeling. Good work guys. Slayed it.
Cheers Brian. Glad you enjoyed it.
All on the 80 chassis!
Best of both world - best looking landcruiser body on the most capable chassis.
FIRST DRIVE! Great to see it get muddy
Great job Richard, well done mate, heaps of fun had by all. Seeya Rob
Was a pleasure to have you come along for the weekend and bring your barra powered 40/80. Looking forward to the next developments and improvements to the car. It's a slow but enjoyable process.
Cheers Lawrence! Can’t wait for the next one and to see yours in action.
Slow process indeed…..
Just awesome. Glad you enjoyed your first outing!
Shocked to hear that was some of your first 4wd’ing! Great build mate.
You and Rich done a great job. The raw video was great and I don’t think you need to change anything. After all TH-cam is really home videos. So keep it up and the cruiser also done great.
We’ll done guys👌
Cheers Robert! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great place to go wheeling. Some tough tracks to start on but nothing like diving right in
THis is very cool, I wish I didn't have responsibilities and I could tune it for it all right now, will be back though!
It is intriguing. The engine initially sounded like an older F155 engine. It must be resonances from the frame and body which do it. But no F155 engine has ever revved like that and lived.
Huge congrats mate, smiles all round
Congrats on an awesome first mission!
Am just a mere subscriber who hasn't even watched all the episodes but most of it. But to be honest am feeling that sense of accomplishment by your work, big congrats mate.
Thank you! It is a good feeling....
Don't get dragged into the high production BS love the raw stuff🤘
I have watched the entire build from start, great to see it finally on the road
Thank you!
Nothing like hearing a Falcon underwater, haha so sick. My XH is jealous.
Turns out Barras can swim 🐟
@@DesignedandBuilt 😂
this trip looks a whole lot of fun, plus your truck man is so sick, you should be stoked haha
Great to see your hard work getting you out on the tracks and performing so well. Congrats!
Thank you!
I loved the head scratch 17:17 it really shows the situation you where in at the time 😂
What a cool video, excellent performance on its maiden voyage. Look forward to future events
great vid, looks like a hell of a trip!
Hahahaha you look like you really enjoyed yourself and that's all that matters! Glad to see you didn't need all those tools you packed.
Good shit mate! Turned out insane & for nothing to go wrong means you took your time and everything is top notch! 🤘
Thank you!!!
Awesome video Rich. You should be bloody proud of what you have built mate, it is one cool and unique Cruiser 👌
Cheers mate, you should be proud of that Sandy Taupe paint job ☺️
Very nice mate! Must of been so cool to get her on the tracks. Glad to see your not babying it too much. There was some well built trucks on the trip!
Cheers Angus, it’s built to be driven 😏 some very cool 40 series indeed. I’ll have to do some overviews.
That would be great. Look forward to more wheeling videos
Look like ur next purchase will be some Beadlocks aha. Love the build
Hey mate , I mentioned this when you were doing the suspension, switch the nyloc nuts for cone lock nuts and the bolts won't come loose.
BTW awesome job on the build. good to see mud on her
You’re 100% right. I’ll add it to the list before the next trip.
Woooo here it is. Glued in the chair for this highly anticipated vid
Looks like you need some bigger tyres. Go 37s
Some nice Cruisers out there. Mud is great fun, but ruins everything. Hard to avoid in Vic!
Nice one!
Great meeting you mate, if you need gears let me know
Thank you!
As said "smiles all round"
aw yesssssss
The Japanese Manga licence plate was a bold choice. LOL Should have gone to Specsavers!
It would have suited the VicRoads Japanese style custom plate.
Richard, thanks for the work you put into your channel, I've enjoyed watching your progress and your content creation style. You've inspired me to learn TIG.
An awesome build, even if those Toyota bones now have a Ford heart. After all your work and attention to detail, I hated seeing it get dirty, and heaven forbid if it gets banged up, but so cool you can enjoy it for your intended purpose.
Looking forward to seeing what's next.
Congrats!
Glad you have enjoyed it, very cool you have been inspired to learn TIG! Good luck with it :)
Love the car, what a rig.
Probably just gotta slow down a bit , will break less shit long term , but i guess a little hard when it sounds so good
Thanks Adam 💯
The rigs always look better when their dirty.
Things a beast! have loved watching the build.
Your alloy (fuel?) tank under the back makes me nervous its gonna get a rock through it..
YEah a tank bash plate might be wise
Yeah very possibly could be the move
Once you get the feel for the truck you'll work out when you need throttle and when you don't, how did you get it thru rego if the speedo isn't working?
Couldn’t get the vehicle speed working off the trans so had to put a GPS speed sensor on in the end to get it registered.
How’s the low and mid torque from the barra?
Great first go I think a throttle controller would be good for your rig just to keep that power on the ground
Haha I think I just have to resist the urge….
Hey mate just wondering if you’ve got a rundown/spreadsheet on prices the whole build kind of costed. Thinking of doing the same thing just don’t know if I’ve got enough money and time for it. Cheers
Hey Mate, something like this from a shop would cost you around 200K parts and labor. You could do it much cheaper depending on how you spec it and how much work you are willing to do yourself.
Shit yeah boiiiiiii! And Richie too, such a rarity!!
Haha mate it was like he was at the 80, in his element with the sounds of big bores on WOT
riding trail bikes definitely helps 4wd skills with reading traction and line selection. just a matter of learning where your wheels are in the 4wd and maintaining steady momentum with throttle control.
Yeah that’s it, I have to resist the temptation on the throttle….
How do u guys go with insurance for these highly modified 4WD’s?
I’ve got a ranger with a 2” lift, bullbar & canopy & have a hard time finding insurance (with a reasonable premium).
I use Shannon’s as it’s a classic! But yep definitely not cheap
@16.00 mins. Great shot. Was that an older camera or filter?
Just a GoPro mate!
Hey mate a little off topic for this video but in your tray build vid I saw you using a metal bandsaw how do you rate it ? Is that the hafco metal master ?
It's okay, its the cheapest one available and it does the job but I wish I had spent a little more...
Thanks for the reply, the real world feedback always helps.
How was the fuel ⛽️ consumption , I imagine it was okay?
It’s averaging about 17 litres per hundred!
Did you get the build VASS engineered? How did you go about that process?
Yep! Adhered to VSB 14 and engaged a VASS engineer early on in the build. Because I got a workshop to mount my body I was able to go through them.
@@DesignedandBuilt Any recommendations for the engineer? As I'm having a hard time getting my build approved.
What are you building? The one we work with will only work with workshops
@@DesignedandBuilt just a Nissan patrol gu for touring. Been trying to find suitable engineers for lift and tyres and the results so far haven't been great.
my brothers and one of my cousins in the video
What size are your rims? If you are running 10" wide rims, you will keep popping a bead. For a 35 you want 9" rims, of course, heavy right foot can still pop your shoes off but going from a 10 to a 9 makes a big difference.
Agreed!
I’ll have to measure and check, cheers for that info.
Should be particularly hard to pop a bead at 15+ psi on a 12.5in wide tyre in a 9in rim. Glad the shakedown went well. That car will provide a steep learning curve my friend.
whats with the gaps door to windscreen
The Bain of my existence, they are the early style doors and they flex. Need to swap to the later style which will have better sealing.
@@DesignedandBuilt that's a bummer after all that work ..but atleast an easy enough fix
Defo more car video, maybe less cooking videos lol
Haha what do you mean? That was the highlight for most I reckon
@@DesignedandBuilt Richard, as I have commented before, the build has been fantastic, I am really keen to see details of the shake down and you using the vehicle, I would be disappointed if you tried to be Shauno and include an ordinary cooking scene. I would love to see more details of the vehicle and the problems you are facing.
Cheers Rod. I think I’ll focus more on the vehicle problems than trying to turn it into a travel show. I’ll put a video up in a few weeks with some of the issues I have faced so far!

Congrats 🙌🏽
@@DesignedandBuilt thanks 🤙
Lmao my parents car drove past
Small original motor with rock crawling low gear, with higher 2nd gear. Big motors lots off noise and wheel spin get you nowhere
Modern big motor with an auto wins every time!
All the gear and no idea 🤣 need to get out wheeling more bro. Or just keep it as a show car.
I’ll build it faster next time so I can go wheeling more 🤣
Turned out good fella
