Don the best roaster ever. I was fortunate to see him with Regis Philbin on his last tour which was a sit down with Regis and he was as funny as ever. Bob Newhart sat right behind us and if you’re of a certain age you can probably understand how much it meant to me. Thank you to my sister who took me and my parents with dinner at the Palms. I love you Ang.

I’d say I’m a fanatic of these roasts 34 years old i find myself coming back to them all the time after a few drinks. I’d say about 80 % of the time he ends his roast with kindness and love which truly earned him the name Mr. Warmth RIP to all these great men and women who made ppl laugh and brought ppl together I am very thankful for it

From time To time,, when I feel sad or tired from days work struggles, besides asking God for strength,, I come and watch Rickles for laughs. I can’t believe these great people are gone,,,and nothing right now that we can watch on TV 📺 to makes us feel better. I was blessed to have been able to watch Johnny Carson in the 8O’s and the end of an era, now gone for ever. May they all RIP ❤️🙏🇺🇸🇵🇷✌️
Jokes are made about the darkest of subjects, smoking, drinking, racism, cancer, death etc…humor is humor. It only ceases to be humor to those who get offended and take it seriously. That’s when society becomes the mess we have today where everyone’s offended and a sheep because someone told them they should be.
Berle was one of the nastiest men in Hollywood and you could tell Don was having a real dig, that is why Berle couldn’t quite control himself with more than a playful slap.
I had worked with Don back in the 70s on a TV show. When the lights went off he was the most gracious person. He was thankful that everyone he made fun of had laughed because Don thinks we should all have a good laugh.
I worked with him on a couple of shows in the 90’s . He remembered every crew members name through the entire multi day event. While I was leaning on the monitor console during the opener, he snuck up behind me, grabbed my hips and thrust his groin into my backside repeatedly, like a dog…. I jumped up and spun around expecting a crew member. They were all standing against the wall and had been watching Rickles sneek up on me. Everyone was bent over in laughter. Hilarious!

Rickles is a classic. Great one liners and jabs. But I especially like listening to his closings, where the man's true thoughts find expression in a most heartfelt manner. The biting sarcasm is gone, and a respectful, humble quality emerges to the forefront.
Rickles never used prepared remarks. He always reacted to whoever was in the room. He had a few standard bits, but his ability to ad lib a whole performance was phenomenal. A tightrope act without a net every time.

I have to disagree. I watched an older performance by Sinbad, prob about 2009-ish, and maybe 75 minutes long. Not a single curse word (that I can recall) and the guy had me rolling. A lot of audience interaction as well. 👍
Rickles could get pretty blue and pretty salty during his routines. So could great's like Milton Berle and Bob Hope. This roast was televised and so they kept it mostly PG with a few zingers that would fly over the heads of most censors.
As my Dad would say, "They don't make 'em like this any more." And he was right. At least we can be grateful that technology allows us to watch these greats on request and introduce them to our children and others.
Don Rickles laughed the hardest when HE was the butt of the joke. Married to the same woman for 50 years. His closings often showed what a class man he really was.....
Don Rickles Buddy Hackett and Foster Brooks in my opinion were some of the greatest comedians ever and of course my number one favorite Tim Conway and Carol Burnett on the female side all of those would have been great in a sketch all four of these comedians
Don Rickles was a true original. His humour made me laugh so hard! And Jerry Lewis was a true talent as well! 😂😂😂 Don and Jerry died months apart in 2017. I was saddened by both of their deaths even though they were in their 90s they brought so much joy to my life. 😭

I didn't know this guy's work. But having looked at about six of his videos now it's easy to tell that he was a comedy genius. Timing, facial expressions, language - he had the lot.
What a funny comedian! He was the king of insults, but always in jest. People understood and enjoyed cause they never knew what he would say. He was fabulous when they toasted Howard Cosell. Funny as hell!
Back in the good old days when people had to put up with second hand smoke which is worse in some ways than first hand and appearing drunk was seen as some sort of badge of honor. Back in the days, oh wait, people did get offended except they had to keep their mouths shut in order to stay in the business.
Just watching this you can see how much of Family Guys deliveries and voices are inspired by Rickles. Pure class. Rest easy up there my friend. One of the best comedic legends of all time.
Rickles had a one of a kind act as a comedian. He had no jokes. I used to live in Vegas, worked as a musician in all the casinos, and got to see Rickles a few times from back stage. I'd walk in in the middle of his act and the crowd would be roaring with laughter, But the things he was saying were not particularly funny or clever. He just had this magic knack to draw people into his train of thought word salad, he had a rhythm, and they'd just laugh. Fascinating phenomena to witness.
Rickles is a riot. He just says what he says and people just laugh. I miss the good ole days. Yes I’m getting old. 😅

What a funny comedian! He was the king of insults, but always in jest. People understood and enjoyed cause they never knew what he would say. He was fabulous when they toasted Howard Cosell. Funny as hell!

Back in the good old days when people had to put up with second hand smoke which is worse in some ways than first hand and appearing drunk was seen as some sort of badge of honor. Back in the days, oh wait, people did get offended except they had to keep their mouths shut in order to stay in the business.

Rickles had a one of a kind act as a comedian. He had no jokes. I used to live in Vegas, worked as a musician in all the casinos, and got to see Rickles a few times from back stage. I'd walk in in the middle of his act and the crowd would be roaring with laughter, But the things he was saying were not particularly funny or clever. He just had this magic knack to draw people into his train of thought word salad, he had a rhythm, and they'd just laugh. Fascinating phenomena to witness.
