I love how Don always finished on a heartfelt and sincere note. He was a class act.
That's what made him great. He would pummel you what seemed like forever but at the end always offered encouragement and how much he appreciated you.

Don Rickles wouldn't be allowed on TV or the stage today. He was an insult genius and didn't care who you were. Everyone was fair game. As it should be. Comedy is comedy and has nothing to do with race or sex.
Watch Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, or Rickey Gervais, they're fearless and funny as hell.

@buckeyesfan2222 Exactly. Mr. Rickles performed in Atlantic City in 2016. He was still "Mr. Warmth" and just as Politically Incorrect and hilariously offensive. The show was a sellout. People LOVED him of all races. Why people think he wouldn't be popular today when he was in fact with us just 4 short years ago and still performing is beyond me.

i saw Rickles play a late show in the 70's. The language was X rated. The comedians of that era were restricted as soon as the cameras were there, & not through their choice.

I am kinda young (42), and have always loved stand-up. I don't know about all time, but definitely of my lifetime, and Richard Pryor and George Carlin were still active when I was a kid.

Rickles at his best. I finally got to see him a just before he died. At the Orleans in Las Vegas. The cadence was slower, he had just recovered from an operation...but he was still Rickles. RIP.

Back in the day when everyone could take a joke and everybody just wanted to laugh. I'm glad my parents exposed me to this man while I was growing up. The best of the best.
They could take a joke because it was funny and not malicious and it came from a place of mutual respect. Not like so called comedians today who use comedy to mask their hidden racist views.

He was a genius, and he acknowledged that preparation is required to be a master of your craft.

Don Rickles was hilarious. I watched all the Roasts when new, but never saw any of Don's specials. 1973, I was age 12, and watched TV alot, during late 1960s and early 1970s.
The wit and class of this gentleman...PURE GOLD. How I miss the old days!!! I am just 49 and realizing what my elders meant.

He was sharp and unscripted at 88 and funnier than most modern comedians younger and scripted. RIP Mr Warmth.

Watching one video of Don is awesome. Watching them back to back you really get a sense of the sharp wit and comedic timing that sets him apart from others.
