He can spit them out from between his teeth. It takes timing to the nanosecond. Only the greats have that kind of timing. Bill Cosby had exquisite timing. Like an atomic clock on steroids.
Everything you see Rickles doing here has been done a thousand times. The same thing, but slightly different each time.
Genius.
Don Rickles did the first OG "drop the mic"!
Yep haha 🤣🤣🤣
That is exactly what I was about to write out when I saw your post. LOL
He's the king that's why LEGEND
His sentiment at the end of his routine towards the person of the hour gets me choked up every time! So sweet!
Rickles, to Heston -
If you were Moses,
I was a Mau Mau pilot...
What I love about Rickles is how he rips on everybody and at the end of his act he wishes them God's blessing and good health. Truly an amazing man.
theactioneffect I’m 29 but I know a lot about the good ol days. That era was the best for everything. Actors, politics. America needs to go back to this era
I'm crying.
Every time I get on a Don Rickles binge, I cant stop.
Now woman don't you give me lip. Get in the kitchen fix me a sammich and eggs. Chop chop. Starving.
Don Rickles was in a class of his own. This man could make put you in tears in a heartbeat!!😂
This is amazing....imagine performing a gig in front of the President and millions and not a hint of stage fright. There will never be another like Don....he is the greatest comedian in history...period.
Rickles was rough but never below the belt. It was never personal with him, just comedy. He could make you laugh at your own failures and weaknesses better than anyone else but way always a professional and a gentleman.
"Is this too fast Ronnie?" Gold!
"Is he laughing?" Norm macdonald said the same thing roasting willy
America that I knew had real laughs, genuine, and people with big hearts!!! Good o times...and I miss it.
The only comedian ever that people would come up to him and say please insult me, and it was an honor! He truly had a big heart in the most hilarious way.
Great analysis!
Love the start, when Webster tells Don Rickles to "Be Funny!!!" Awesome!!!
Especially how he pulled the mic back before saying it.
@@PeeboTyson Sadly that was rare in the entertainment industry back then. Sure you had some African Americans in the industry but it only seemed they were only there as a curiosity. Don Rickles is a great example though he was no racist and does talk about it. However, some of his content is questionable, which the audience happily laughs at, even though it was funny.
"Is he laughing?" LMAO
Now I know where Norm Macdonald got that idea for his Bill Clinton roast
Jeff Ross did it too at the Emmet Smith roast
"I gave him a cookie, he went away."
I'm ded.
He was so funny even the Secret Service Agents had to have been laughing.
This was typical of Don Rickles he would make fun of you to no end. Then display his class and sincerely wish you the best. He was class integrity and humour all in one.
And a devoted husband to one woman for 52 yrs until the day he died
Unlike today's comedians who seem full of hate, one always got the impression that if you got roasted by Don Rickles it's because he actually liked you. People saw it as an honor to be the butt of his jokes.
This will never be possible again, America has changed.
Rickles used to joke with Sammy Davis and calls him negro and they both laughed. Those were the days.
Certainly those times will not repeat themselves.
Not only America has changed, the world have changed.
@@thinktank6974 If that's what made america great, then america sucked in the first place.
@@OlleForsberg The Left is killing America with Political Correctness
Don Rickles and Robin Williams are my two all time favorite comedians. They were amazing at improv, naturally funny, great people, and didn’t let politics interfere with their jokes.
RIP too two great legends.
God bless you Don & all yours. You were a showman & a delight to watch. Thank you for all you achieved! Rest peacefully
Classic comedy. What I liked about Rickles is that despite the jokes, he always got serious at the end of the monologue and wished the person of honour great health and happiness.
This is a fantastic bit from Rickles the entire way through and the incredibly classy ending...quaint. Bring this era back.
Rickles with the ‘ahead of his time’ mic drop at 1:55.
Funny bit.
Also his ending:
Sincerity and respect.
Only Don Rickles could say to a president "you re gettin on my nerves". A true legend.
will zmith every Fuckwit celebrity says that to trump now
@schindler91589 another lefty calling trump illegitimate even though he won fairly and squarely. How the irony of your comment doesnt cease to amaze me. Please leave the internet and dunk your head in a tub of your own tears. For the good of humanity.
"Every elected president I don't like is illegitimate!"
@JediNxf7 knowing that you will probably never read this, but to call out your simpleton statements, if the US were setup like the UN, the vote would have been 30 to 20. You remind of a 1 celled algae, "but, I went to college."
@@robertshapley5330 the difference is back then you could disagree and go for a drink. Now every lifetime pol on both sides suck, the liberals are deranged and the republicans are spineless.
Beautiful. Those were truly the days!!
never before, and never since
a class act
don rickles is a god tier comic :)
"first black kid i've ever saw, that will never play Basketball" haha
Ramped Upp fr, don rickles is hilarious
+Ramped Upp while I don't disagree with your comment about humor, you need to be honest that it cuts both ways. When comedians joke about Republicans and the new president, all the offended conservatives come with their "libtard" and "dumocrat" cr*p out of the woodwork. Liberals and conservatives alike have all become snowflakes.
Harvey Dodd exactly
HA! Now that funny!
It's like back in the day when you had to sneak and listen to old records when everyone is a sleep.
"I spoke to the hospital Nelson. You died about an hour ago."
lmao
"If you see Marines coming towards me go into 'Glory, Glory Hallelujah' & shoot Webster"
"...Billy Graham...this hand is bothering me"!
😂
Ironically, Riddle died in October of that year.
Don Rickles died on April 6th 2017. He was 90 years old
What a classic, Don Rickles poked fun at everyone and they took it in good humor. Hard to see this happening now.
Don Rickles was in a class by himself. He was the best insult comedian of all time.
I love how he was a Democrat and everyone got along... I’m a Republican and I loved every second
Those were the days, I wish we could go back to embracing our differences and respecting each other.
And look how Billy Graham laughed with him. An AMAZING moment.
@@thunderbird1921 Charlton Heston was laughing too. It's kind of astonishing seeing people across ideological lines having such a good time together. Especially from a 2020s perspective.
@@cagnazzo82 Back then, we had shared values of honor, respect and basic morality. Today, we have cancel culture and a complete lack of respect for people's beliefs. Mr. Rickles would have had his career ruined on at least 10 occasions if he was alive and active today. Reason #234 that the 1980s were MILES better than the 2010s and 2020s ever have been. Our world has gone insane.
Why a ref yoj a republican?
Don considered this to be the highlight event of his career, and rightfully so.
The Elizabeth Taylor line is absolutely hilarious, and the fact that it just came out of nowhere made it even better.
Except that the “killing snakes” line is interesting. Reagan was rumored to have had a casting couch encounter with a young Elizabrth Taylor, according to her authorized biography by Darwin and Prince....
Well thank you for pointing that out. Much appreciated.
Back when everyone had a sense of humor. I was fortunate to see Don Rickles live at the Stardust in Vegas, What a fun show.
That line to Nelson Riddle about "you died about an hour ago," is classic
Amazing how far we have fallen in 34 years. 1985 comedians insults were funny now they are just INSULTS .
@@Astromancy2112 good job proving him wrong.
This clip disproves your theorem about the good old days and that modern comics aren't funny. th-cam.com/video/Kaq0Ym6OY_k/w-d-xo.html
Fucking snowflakes can't deal with legitimate criticism much less jokes.
@@Astromancy2112 Did anyone notice your not a comedian lol. Sensitive ppl in this country smh
@@Bonzi_Buddy You sound like a snowflake..
Just hysterical!! He roasts them but does it with respect & class. No vulgarity. A true pro.
A comedian with class and grace, how refreshing!
If we never have our old America back again at least I was Blessed to have lived in that One.
Where the legend of the "mic drop" began!!!
Don Rickles comic genius.
Exactly what I thought First ever and his was actually funny!
Don Rickles has one of the best deliveries of comic material in the world.. Even if what he says is not so funny, the way he says it always is.. He is a comedic genius
Jack Gedzelman you have to have been paying attention back then to get his jokes. They were all about that time period.
