Foster Brooks was the only person in this whole series of Dean Martin Roasts who consistently destroyed the dais every time he appeared, especially Dean Martin. Always my favourite roaster. Thanks Mr. Brooks.
His routine is less than six minutes, there isn't a single vulgar word, and he totally owns the stage. He has Don Rickles about to cry, he's laughing so hard, and the others on stage as well. Pure talent, class, and confidence.
Wouldn't you just once have loved the camera to pan back so you could watch the whole table of guests react? My gosh...I've never ever heard Don Rickles laugh so hard in my life!
I've actually had the fortune of meeting Don Rickles once, many years ago at the Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. It was his last performance after having done around 30 years there. Truly a class act. He was a pistol off stage as well as when he was on. He was the best at his style of comedy. Foster was in great company the night they roasted Don!
It's mind-boggling when you think of all the comedy legends on the stage alone. I've noticed that there are some in attendance who are in the audience. I mean, wow! I see a very diverse table of people up there. In this day and age, when all people want to do is call each other racists, these people actually made fun of themselves and each other and laughed about it.
You notice how these guys can rib each other, bring wives and significant others into the joke, and everyone knows it's pure humor. No one is taking a swing at anyone or spewing profanities. It'll never be like that again.
Foster Brooks was great....he would do the drunk bit almost at every roast and he always pulled it off without it ever getting old and worn out.....classic old school comedian.
This particular roast HAS to be one of the best of all time! My gosh, how blessed we were to have all of these folks as a part of our culture back in the day. I miss them all.
I am sooo glad I found this. To see Don Rickles overcome with laughter and Dean Martin wiping tears put of his eyes is classic! I watch it regularly and keep skipping back to the 5 minut mark to hear Rickles " cackling" with laughter.
When we were watching and enjoying these NONE of us ever realized that eventually when they were all gone we would be left with garbage for entertainment.
He was a truly talented comic. Kept his audience in stitches and tears with laughter, with acts that had no vulgarity, no profanity. I'm a Brit and I just love this old time Yanky humour, delivered by exceptional professionals. Classy legends. No vulgarity, no F-words. I never get tired of watching these roasts. Currently, before sleeping I watch one of these videos to laugh and to de-stress. Excellent therapy to not think about all the bullshit we're going through in this time.
I remember watching this as a kid. We'd watch these roasts just to watch Foster Brooks. He never disappointed. Even my folks, who hardly ever laughed at anything, were in tears. RIP Foster Brooks. You were a credit to your craft!!
What is so amazing about Foster Brooks is that he never breaks character. I don't think I have ever seen him crack a smile or laugh while in character doing his bit. When you have a room full of people laughing it's extremely difficult not to laugh at what you just said or did. He was definitely the tops at his game.
Yes, and as soon as his bit is over, he *COMPLETELY* breaks out of character and becomes his regular self. I saw this show when it first aired---I was eighteen.

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this over the years. It is an incredible performance by a great talent. They don't make them like this anymore. In fact all these guys in their own way are just so talented, some comedians, some straight actors but true professionals all them

This is one of the great things about youtube. I'm only in my 20s but I really wish I had been around to enjoy the 70s. Foster Brooks has never failed to put a smile on my face.
When you can reduce every other comedian in the room, into laughing so hard that not only can't they speak, but can't even look at you....we know your good. Foster Brooks is a genius, and it's amazing how easy he made it look. Today's comedians couldn't wipe his ass.
I have to agree, now I do laugh at today’s comics, but these guys were truly funny. Doing it without the profanity, and everyone at the table is side splitting laughing! 👍🏽
Yes I totally agree ...if you look at all the different colored faces all laughing at the jokes, which after all that's all they were, it was so good to see. Back then black could laugh at White and white at black without anyone getting offended or upset. The left liberal woke snowflake brigade have hell to answer for ...they have divided different colors races and religions with this BS political correctness and it's destroying unity all over the globe. BLM are some of the biggest race haters on the planet and have sent race relations back 100 years. It was the democrats who ran the slave trades but they like to blame good American patriots for it...the democrats started the KKK but throw the blame on every one else. BLM and ANTIFA are the two biggest domestic terrorist gangs in America and it wasn't patriots that spent a year burning cities down murdering innocent people looting and thieving before Biden stole the white House in the biggest election fraud in American history it was BLM and ANTIFA. WHEN A PERSON OF COLOR SAYS TO ME YOU WHITES ENSLAVED US ...MY RESPONSE IS " I WASN'T ALIVE 400 YEARS AGO HOW IS IT MY FAULT?" There are millions of good black folk who despise BLM but there are also the bigots and racists who see one black BLM scum bag burning rioting or murdering and collectively judge every black person on the planet. Sadly that's human nature but mostly good white folk can separate good black folk from the gutter rats in BLM. Slightly off track but yes back in Foster Brooks time everyone had a sense of humor no matter what the color of their skin was
@@torreador1972 they only cross the lines a small minority of pompous humorless woke snowflakes have set so they can feel important. Most people want to laugh no matter what their race color or religion is. The left is destroying everything that is good. I for one will continue to laugh at things that are funny whether it crosses the line or not. Those lines are set by the most pathetic individuals alive today.

This and Tim Conway’s Elephant Story are perhaps the two most brilliant comedy masterpieces ever!
The dentists skit?

@@stevenlang90 The dry cleaners skit also. These guys were genius of comedy!
Snort, so funny.
This man was the funniest comedian I have ever seen..RIP Foster
What a performance. Rickles knows he is in for it and loses it as soon as Foster walks up to the dais and gives him a look. A classic.
Every time i need a break from life problems and need some laugh, i watch these roasts. Seeing Dean laughing so hard, its incredible.
I totally agree!
He was a rarity in the world of humor, very, very funny. If he wrote his own material, he was genius.
One of the top 5 comic things I have ever seen. It NEVER gets old!
Love it when Foster gets Dean laughing so much and then gives him that little jab . He does that in quite a few roasts
I was blessed with a studio singing career that spanned nearly six decades. My fondest memories we from being part of an 8-voice backup group on the Dean Martin Show for 6 years. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dean. Just a total delight to work for. And I always loved it when Foster Brooks was on.
Bet you could tell some funny stories!
Please share your stories! What a blessing and gift!
@Diana Lee
Thank You so much for all the entertainment you provided to my parents, grandparents, and ourselves...I remember all the truly hilarious skits and songs and guests from those shows, and we were truly blessed by You and Your Peers...Thank You Very Much for So Much...God Bless You!!
Way cool......Martin seemed like a really genuine nice guy......as opposed to that POS buddy of his Sinatra.
Diana Lee, how very lucky were you to have worked with such a great talent as Dean Martin & the ultimate comedian,Foster Brooks.
Good Clean Truly Funny Comedy. Man how I miss these times.
"It's not your wife's fault; I answered her ad in the Hollywood Free Press..."
PRICELESS!!!
What a gentleman lol.
I watch this almost daily...absolutely fabulous. Sure miss the good old days.
It doesn't get any better than this folks!
When a man like Foster Brooks can make professional comics laugh just by walking to the podium, & the antipation, well that man is a TRUE COMIC ABOVE OTHERS!
You nailed it!
Right on you figured it out
Steven Vensky Your are so right ,we need more people like him to make us laugh again
Foster Brooks is an idiot
@@BigfootBionic You don't get to be president of NBC for being an idiot. That's reserved for your current POTUS.
How can he sound so serious and keep a straight face while doing this, pure genius
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this over the years. It is an incredible performance by a great talent. They don't make them like this anymore. In fact all these guys in their own way are just so talented, some comedians, some straight actors but true professionals all them
so true
The same here
No they dont make them like this anymore, which doesnt mean its worse, just a different time.
same here, Halloween 2021
You don't see talent like this today, their all trying to teach you about wokeness or some other political agenda. I truly miss all these old shows they were very entertaining.
"I better cheese it. Which reminds me,you're out a velvita." Lmao
And he's completely sober while doing his toast/roast. Brilliant
and he had a wonderful singing voice
NOBODY bashed
Rickles like that.
Bravo Foster.
Even when I was a drunk i couldn't get it right
@@jasonvandervalk3679 LOL
i watch these clips of the old roasts when ever i feel down and it only takes a minute to cheer me up...shame they dont make them like this anymore
This is one of the great things about youtube. I'm only in my 20s but I really wish I had been around to enjoy the 70s. Foster Brooks has never failed to put a smile on my face.
Todd Davis
It's stuff like the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts and clips from the Muppet Show that make me comment
#makebadjokesgreatagain
Sure don't!
A classic that will never get old.
Rickles' laugh at the end gets me every time... 🤣🤣 Foster's performance was incredible
By far to date, one of the funniest roasts ever.
I can watch this a thousand times and still laugh
When you’re feeling shit it’s good to listen to this.
When you can reduce every other comedian in the room, into laughing so hard that not only can't they speak, but can't even look at you....we know your good. Foster Brooks is a genius, and it's amazing how easy he made it look. Today's comedians couldn't wipe his ass.
Indeed. Well said.
Today's "comedians" don't know how to be funny without cursing. I find that despicable.
Hell, when he got to the podium, Don busted up laughing and hadn't said a word yet. LOL He just looked at him..
I have to agree, now I do laugh at today’s comics, but these guys were truly funny. Doing it without the profanity, and everyone at the table is side splitting laughing! 👍🏽
A T Morgan every time he was on Don was throwing himself around laughing til he cried
It goes back to a time when we all could have a sense of humor, laugh and not be offended. I miss those times.
WHEN A PERSON OF COLOR SAYS TO ME YOU WHITES ENSLAVED US ...MY RESPONSE IS " I WASN'T ALIVE 400 YEARS AGO HOW IS IT MY FAULT?"
There are millions of good black folk who despise BLM but there are also the bigots and racists who see one black BLM scum bag burning rioting or murdering and collectively judge every black person on the planet. Sadly that's human nature but mostly good white folk can separate good black folk from the gutter rats in BLM.
Slightly off track but yes back in Foster Brooks time everyone had a sense of humor no matter what the color of their skin was
They still do Comedy Central roasts. In fact they probably cross more lines than these guys did
@@torreador1972 they only cross the lines a small minority of pompous humorless woke snowflakes have set so they can feel important. Most people want to laugh no matter what their race color or religion is. The left is destroying everything that is good. I for one will continue to laugh at things that are funny whether it crosses the line or not. Those lines are set by the most pathetic individuals alive today.
Yes,but liberals and minorities fu$ked all that up
When Foster just stared down at Don Rickles he cracked up...Foster didn't have to say a word!
I howled at that!
Timeless comedy.. I watch this when I need a good laugh!!! Amazing comedian at his best... Never seen Don Rickles laugh out so hard...
OMG! This bit still has me rolling and crying with laughter. What a genius comedian.
Lmao......................omg, Foster was a comedic genius.............. all legends on that stage.... i hate to say it but, you will never see comedy like this again! Rip to all of them,
I watched these roasts with my parents when I was a kid... we always waited for Foster Brooks to come on. We laughed so hard. And I remember this very roast! And the other comedians there that night, such as Dan Rowan and Dick Martin... simply wonderful!
Me too! 100%!!!!
By the end, me, Grandpa and Granny Mac were gasping for breath! Good memories of better days.
