  • I love that Mirabel isn’t a sword-wielding fighter, but instead her strength shows though in compassionate and helpful ways. I love that they allow Mirabel to have goofy mannerisms, and not be perfectly composed the whole time. I love that Mirabel’s proportions and design are more realistic than a lot of animated female protagonists. And I love that she is an alto!

I love that she’s a main character with curly hair and glasses and at no point they change that. So many movies have female characters like that at the start but then they change it in a makeover scene or something and all of a sudden she’s seen as more valuable that way, one example being princess diaries.

Mirabel’s character really resonated with me, as she is empathetic, compassionate and seeks compromise/wants the best for her family even though she doesn’t fit in/is the least gifted of them all. She shows zero jealousy when Antonio gets his gift of talking to animals.

I have always felt like Mirabel's personality and attitude fit so well with the Disney Princesses, better then Raya ever did, at least. Just imagine the Princess scene in Wreck it Ralph two, Mirabel would totally be best friends with Anna and maybe Rapunzel, but Raya just doesn't mesh well even with the more serious, action-oriented princesses. She would be that loner kid who no one understands. Great video, BTW!

I totally agree with you about Cinderella and Belle being strong in a feminine way, I love that
I hadn't even realized that all the songs are lower and more comfortable to sing, but now that you point it out, it enhances the songs even more.

Stephanie Beatriz did a superb job voicing Mirabel

I absolutely agree with you and as a boy a sometimes feel like boys are under operated in Disney movies and I did not feel quite like that when I saw how they portrayed mirabel

Mirabel has definitely set a really high bar when it comes to the Disney heroines line-up. I love her so much for it! She's making record-breaking achievements as a character 😀

Ariel (1989) could also be a little silly sometimes.

I don’t see why combat can’t be feminine and why kindness is a feminine trait. I’d hope it’s universally desirable, but I don’t like the bland perfection of the “strong woman” who is just good at everything and has no flaws. That’s just boring.
