Why Harry Potter should be 2D animated.
The Harry Potter world is full of so many creative and magical elements that would look best in 2D, traditional animation rather than live action or 3D animation.

10 random things I don’t like about Belle from the remake Beauty and the Beast movie.
มุมมอง 13K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
One of the most disappointing things from the 2017 BatB is the character of Belle. In my video I say that the blame falls to many people, but realistically most of my problems fall on Emma Watson for one reason or another. I have so many miscellaneous problems with this movie, and I decided to compile 10 of them here. I don’t know why I pick on this movie so much. I took steps to go into this movie with no expectations to see what my honest reaction would be and I was surprised at how disappointed I still ended up being. I have been enjoying your videos immensely & agree with all of your analysis. My compliments for being knowledgeable & eloquent. And as a suggestion, I would encourage you to see the Disney remake of Dumbo by Tim Burton. It is a unique retelling of the character, while being different from the original animated motion picture. For the rest, keep doing what you are doing with these videos, keep educating others on critical thinking & I wish you the best! 😊

Live action B&B straightened out the prom scene. In the animated film, Belle and the Beast are having dinner after the scene on the stairs, when in the middle of the meal, Belle suddenly and spontaneously drags the Beast to dance. However, the staircase scene in live action Cinderella is clearly inspired by the staircase scene in animated B&B, which is why it differs from the animated Cinderella staircase scene in the grand staircase but is similar to in B&B. And unfortunately, I lost track of what the original point of my comment was, but I still decided to post it anyway, since I considered it to be such an important note.

I loved the way Beast's horns are done, but that might be because I didn't consider the backward vs forward curve. The size and shape of his horns is magnificent! The worst thing about Beast's design for me is that he has no ears. Not human ones, and not emoting animal ones.

The getting dolled up for the dance scene in the original (animated) version always amused me, because he comes out looking like the Cowardly Lion when he gets dolled up in Oz, particularly the book illustration (though the 1939 movie's take is also similar).

Emma was supposed to play a character from the era where women used to wear corsets under their dresses. That's history, whether we like it or not, is another topic. Otherwise, why wear a dress? Heck, just put on a pair of jeans and get it over with.

I think so many things would be better 2D animated. But it takes so much work and money and these days efficiency matters so much more than art. And yeah, movies with magic and sparkly transformations and diverse creatures and lots of color get so much more whimsical and full of wonder when they are drawn out by hand instead of being "puppetted" in cgi or acted out in live action in a set. We kind of abandoned that feeling in animation altogether because they think everyone prefers realism now. :/

Belle wasn't the actual belle she was meant to be in the new movie. And plus, that dress was hella boring. The original one looks more of a gown but that dress just looked like a normal dress. They didn't even made her look like a princess and why tf was she so rude to gaston when he was polite?

With the horns, it seems to me that they were trying to invoke imagery of the Devil with goat-like features but I think it falls a bit flat. Better, as you say to have the horns forward to make the design more intimidating.

Belle’s dress looks cheap, like a prom dress or something. Also, the top looks too modern, and the ear cuffs she’s wearing, beautiful though they are, don’t help. In short, this Belle looks like she’s seen an iPhone.

16:03 OH MY GOD IT’S EVEN SNOWING THEY BOTCHED THIS SO BAD! In the original, it wasn’t snowing-it looked like it was summer, aka warm weather. But here, this balcony is covered in snow, and I doubt Belle was slow-roasting in that dress-have her move closer to him to share body heat, or have him give her his jacket! It’s so easy!

  • @ShootingStarStudio

15:26 I’m actually not mad at this, with her taking his arm. For me, when a girl takes her partner’s arm like this in movies, it’s this symbolism of “I trust you,” and trust is an integral part of any relationship, especially a romantic one. That said, I wish I could’ve actually seen Belle’s face as she metaphorically puts her trust in the Beast, and I want to see the Beast’s face when Belle gives him that trust. And I don’t think a ton of acting would’ve been required on Emma’s part had the costuming been better. Either we got the dress we expected and it would be weighing her down, or if they put her in killer heels (which, considering how much Emma’s costumes stick out anyway, wouldn’t have been a stretch). But one of those two things, coupled with the fact that Dan Stevens was on stilts and was likely dizzy from all the spinning, and you have a girl who’s maybe a little unsteady reaching for stability on someone who could easily be knocked off balance. Belle might be trusting the Beast with her emotions, but Emma would be trusting Dan with her safety.

Like OG Belle was sweet, nice, compassionate and lovable. This Belle, she’s just so cocky so rude I just didn’t enjoy watching her Some other “feisty” as they tried to paint it off as moments from her include 1. She straight up walks on the table when the ladies are trying to do laundry 2. Considering how they portrayed Gaston in the beginning, Belle feels more like the bad guy in the first meeting 3. She rejects the dinner in a very taunting manner 4. She actually shoved her father to the ground instead of volunteering herself 5. She forces Beast into the light with Lumiere instead of letting him do it like in the original 6. She uses the town’s water supply in the invention

About Belle's hitched up dress. The article of clothing we see under her dress is called "combinations". Let's not forget that, at this point in time, they would have had an open, split crotch. In this case, I really hope they weren't historically accurate.

Yes. Most women have a Disney princess that resonates with them and for me its Belle. And i couldn't resonate with the live action Bell. It came more off as Beastiality than an actual romance and her character was flat. The wardrobe was always wrong for her. They should have picked a stylist who loved the original, identified with it.

I love Emma's character as a person but she was honestly absolutely unsuitable choice for this role in almost every possible way. Not just I honestly hate this remake... I hate that idea that they had to make Belle more like Emma because of all the contemporaly feminist ideas of femininity, like original Belle wasn't strong woman enough. You don't have to be tough and defiant to be feminist. You can be gentle, polite, compassionate, dreamy and strong and brave at the same time, just like the original Belle was and that actually made her so wonderful. But this idea of feminism just feels like women aren't allowed to express their femininity in their own unique way and they just have to fit into one scheme to be considered as a true feminist. Original Belle had her own dreams, she didn't necessarily need romantic love, she just wanted someone to accept her the way she is, listen to her and appriciate who she truly is, her dreams, her beautiful soul. She and the beast didn't need to bond through books and similar backstories (and even that didn't help Belle and the beast from the remake to feel natural). They just truly saw the soul of one another, appriciated the best of one another and had true connection that felt natural and honest and few scenes were enough to show us how they developed feelings for each other. Belle from the ramake doesn't even seem like a person who would be truly able to fall in love with the beast and the beast felt so insecure and unsure around her all the time which felt so wrong because they were supposed to feel more and more comfortable around each other during their time together. But it just felt like she tolerates him but still sees him as less than her and he just akwardly tries to reach her but doesn't know how.

What's truly amazing is the sad fact you made this commentary in the first place - and received so many viewers. Came across this site by accident - wouldn't give you 1 cent for your opinions - never mind 2. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on a subject but Dance Scene Comparisons between Cinderella & Beauty & the Beast (live actions) - why do you think you're one to talk about it? If you're such an expert on movies - why aren't you producing them - then you could address your issues - the movies would be perfect & you'd have nothing to talk about 😂😂😂. It's a huge risk in every department of film making to turn a timeless classic film like Cinderella into a live action film just as it was when Disney first made it. Everyone knows what the films are about whether one would admit it or not - no need for a re-cap at the beginning. The creativity is amazing. You try making those dresses, dancing in them or if you were the beast under that costume. The 2 storylines are so different no matter what category in film making you pick to debate. When one goes for a job - first impressions matter - won't be subscribing to this channel - no chemistry between viewer & presenter ...

One thing I really hated about this Belle was that she reads Shakespeare throughout the movie. Reading Shakespeare in itself isn’t bad it’s just that it made Belle feel less relatable. What child wants to read Shakespeare?! Belle read fairytales and escaped into those fairytales like the children who are watching the movie. I feel like this choice in the movie made Belle come off as pompous and pretentious. Edit: I think that Belle is reading Shakespeare to the beast in the animated film but she is using that to teach the beast. It’s not for leisure.

Character growth and development is one of my favorite things in movies so that’s one of the many reasons why I like the OG so much (even as a 24 year old man). On top of that there’s a great plot, attractive visuals, bright music, lively voice acting, memorable moments, likable characters, enjoyable humor, and more! Emma Watson being cast as Belle (and the way they mocked Lefou's character for his sexuality, though that is unrelated to the video) are the two biggest problems of this movie. As someone who has always strongly related to Belle, the way she plays her just isn't it. Watching her in this version feels like watching a character who is a mix of Emma Watson and Emma Watson's Hermione, not like watching Belle. It feels like she wanted to fix Belle and make her how she thought she should be, which is also something that kinda happened with Hermione in the HP movies with Steve Kloves being so biased in his writing and making her so perfect, something that she wasn't in the books and shouldn't have been in the movies. It's a shame. I enjoyed her performances in other things, but with these two characters she really missed the mark.

6:13. Also she has free range of a gigantic Palace that includes the grounds not to mention that there are wolves out into the Forbidden Forest surrounding the place. They would devour her if she left. They ALMOST did killed her AND Beast had they not saved one another. That palace is protection from the outside world. Let's put this in a scenario. Let's say If Beast or any of the staff left the palace they would have to get past the wolves and even if they did get past them what would happen next? People would fear them for how they looked. The palace is their sanctuary.
