    I bought the stainless steel version back in 2017 and all I can say is that this watch is durable and rugged as heck, the indiglo night light is also a nice feature. It truly does live up to its slogan, “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.”

    I brought the same watch for $45 on amazon. It’s much better than the more expensive Michael Kors watch ($200) I brought when I was a freshman in college. I didn’t understand the difference between real watch makers and fashion designer watches.

    Love the look of the Expedition. I was looking for a Tide watch and found the Timex Allied Tide Temp Compass. Looks great but i'm not sure about the accuracy of those complications, especially the tide.

    I've had a timex expedition similar to the one your reviewing with a black body for about 1.5 yrs and taken it to many fields and exercises. I can say that the paint hasn't scratched at all and only has a little wear on the edges around the crown. My only criticisms I have is that the lum is basically useless but the backlight is dark enough that if you're trying to be considerate of light discipline you can just cup your hand around it. Also I've had the same miss alignment issue with the second hand but if I really cared about per-second accuracy I'd had bought a digital watch.
    Overall I've really like the expedition as a watch for being in the military. It is nice enough to wear daily but will keeps time accurately in an extended field/mission while also being (so far) durable enough and water resistant enough for anything I've thrown at it. (Also at $50 I'm not overly worried about it getting broken/lost)

    My Scout 40 ( Black case, khaki face black numerals and hands with lumin, is 7 going on 8 YO.
    I had to replace the strap because I snagged it on a lag bolt 30 feet in the air it hit a picket fence and landed face down in grass, it's still ticking and still accurate enough for even some government work : ).
    Been in pools, showers, lakes ( no salt water ) mud, underground etc. and unlike some complaints, mine is quiet at normal viewing distance, can't hear the tick until it's 3 or less inches from my ear.
    Will I buy this again ? hell yeah; it out lasted 2 Seikos, a Caravelle, my G Shock which I bought after this ( the solar charger stopped working after 3 years.
    Not a bad watch for 35 dollars.

    I have that Timex but the 40mm version, dark gun metal not black then i bought a matte black vintage leather strap used the Timex buckle & converted it to quick release like its original black silicone strap. I switch straps depending on what I'm doing or where I'm going. My 24 hr. numbers are in white while the main numbers are green w/c glows in the dark including the hour & minute hands while the seconds hand is all orange while on top of number 12 is an tiny orange marker.

    Very, very excellent review, just perfect. There are some other reviews out there that are so long and repetitive I can’t believe it. Very precise and to the point, refreshing! Thank you very much! I think I will pick me up one of these inexpensive beauties, I’ve owned one other indeglo in Rolex style gold tone and loved it for ten years until the crown broke off. May try and find a new crown for it and do the easy replacement. Thanks again my friend!

    I purchased a Times Expedition and love it! It is easy to read and I love the Indiglow back light. Contrasting black dial and white hands / Indices and markers make the watch very easy to read. The overall appearance make the watch very legible, the quartz movement is accurate my only complaint is the hands do not land directly on the Indices. The watch is a very inexpensive durable time piece and I would buy again!

      @WondersofWatchdom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Really rusty" after a year of wearing it? I'm going to have to call BS on that one. Timex brass cases are coated with PVD, nickel or chrome. As I mentioned in the video, I've had my old one for 10 years and banged it around A LOT, and it still doesn't have a speck of oxidation. You need deep gouges or wear just to start the oxidation process, and even then brass develops a patina in a few months and stops oxidizing: in fact it makes the watch more durable.

    • @gabd.5299
      @gabd.5299 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @WondersofWatchdom
      @WondersofWatchdom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gabd.5299 Well I stand corrected, that's certainly corrosion. Is this even a Timex, or just a Timex caseback? In any case, it looks like you put this watch through a meat grinder and then left it in a field. That's just gross neglect, and not just for a year. How do you even get a caseback that scratched?? It's supposed to be against your skin.

      the only bad point with brass is that with time it gets rust from the sweat

    • @WondersofWatchdom
      @WondersofWatchdom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boro3454 If you rinse off the sweat and grime, brass will develop a protective patina that is extremely durable. Having said that, in this watch you have to wear out the PVD coating first to even expose the brass, which usually takes years. I've had my previous expedition for 10 years. The old leather strap rotted off during a hiking trip in the jungle, yet the PVD is still fine.
