    I have the one with the green band and yellow second hand. It’s really a lot of watch for the money. It gives you the feeling and look of having a mechanical watch, without having to worry about it. Mine is shockingly precise and I think putting the date wheel inside of the 24 hour time markers is a genius idea. So many watch companies throw off the dial with a date wheel but this design really does it perfectly. I need this leather band version, it looks like a Benrus 3061 had a baby with an Explorer 2

    My last scout went for three and a half years with the original battery. Scratched to hell, but a great beater. I even got a new one. I took it for a couple of swims in the pool and got moisture in the crystal.

      In horology, 50m water resistance means "splash proof". Do NOT war such watches for swimming. You need a watch that is rated at least "100m"!

    Many thanks for your comprehensive review Guy.
    As brass patinas and will cause your wrist to go green all/most manufacturers put a s/s case bottom to avoid this. Mineral crystal is more impact resistant than sapphire which, as you pointed out, resists scratching better than mineral. In the field I prefer mineral because being clumsy I'm more likely to hit a rock rather than brush against it ! But to each their own. Finally a field watch takes it's identity from the military where lack of reflectivity was most important in not giving one's position away to the enemy. This is why cases are typically matt, dials are low-vis and lume is subdued.

      the beige style… Wow does the indigo ever make this one light up… I also have the cream-colored and it's amazing… I'm hoping to get 10 years but the Internet says 5 to 10 years. the indigo does not work as well on the black watches or the darker colors. I really love my watch good luck with yours

    Nice, detailed review. I own the same watch, and do have some issues with it. It is very loud, which can sometimes be annoying, but which I think many people get used to. The band, like you point out, is of low quality...I find that it tended to stretch even after relatively little use. That can be resolved by switching out to a better band--it would probably do wel on a NATO style strap. The crystal really cannot take much abuse, but that's what Polywatch is for, and honestly, how much cam you expect at the price point? Overall, a good watch for the money and for its intended use. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for the review. I owned (gave them away) a couple Timex Weekenders which is a very similar model. The ticking was very loud. Have you noticed a loud ticking noise on the Expedition?

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, this one is quite loud. Seems like it's a decent watch though, assuming it holds up. I have read a fair number of complaints about them not being durable over the long term. Time will tell.

  • @FightingTemplar

    I've worn one for about two years and it's held up well and I have not been gentle on it either.
    it's been in saltwater, freshwater, river rapids and is still going strong.
    you are correct about setting the date, it can be a little bit tedious. Otherwise a great watch!

      My wrist is a 7" diameter, roughly, and I feel like it wears right about where I like it (not to big or to small). Lug to Lug, I think I mentioned in the video, comes in at about 49mm measured on my caliper.

    A tad late to the party though I heard something that I’ve heard & addressed in the FB watch communities regarding the Expedition.
    Having a vast mechanical time piece collection(I’m easy to find in the FB horological communities), I also have and wear quite a few Timex’s when I’m working my bar or running around picking up liquor, beer and supplies and the Expedition happens to be my favorite design and I have to say that other than holding the watch right next to my left ear, I never ever ever have heard the “tic toc” that you speak of when my arm is chest high, much less any lower.
    I happen to own the one that you reviewed, along with the same dial with yellow seconds hand, the same dial with white seconds hand along with the baby blue dial/white numerals and white hands and they are all the same regarding the “tic toc” or being able to hear it.
    Maybe my hearing is shot from listening to the bands in my bar though for the money, these are Great watches and look sharp whether paired with a T and shorts or a button down and jeans/khakis.
    I would just ask anyone who watches the review or is reading this to grab a Timex the next time that you’re in a store that carries them, temporarily remove the lil crown block that is in place to keep the crown from being in the “down” position and engaging the battery, and see if you can hear the “tic toc” of the watch at different positions, starting at your waist.
    No biggie though I just believe that this is one one of the many urban legends that have taken hold in the virtual horological world, as in 42+ years collecting and 18+ in the biz(vintage & pre-owned luxury time pieces), I never heard this about Timex or came across any that were loud enough to the point that I noticed, lol. Yes, their “tic toc” is louder than most other quartz models though I never hear it unless I bring the watch up to my ear.
    Stay Well & Continued Success🍻

    I'm looking for a watch that's minimalist, white face, and most importantly, easy to read the time and has a yellow second hand, this watch looks ok, and it has a yellow second hand, do you think this watch is worth to buy? Does the time easy to read? Does white or black face watch easier to read time?

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      NETVO TV a white face with black numerals might be slightly more legible, if it comes in that configuration it might be worth picking up. I can't recall if it comes in a white dial though, would have to do some research.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re so different I wouldn’t be able to say one is better than the other. I might prefer one more than the other but that’s just personal taste. The Seiko is a great deal smaller than the Timex and uses a less accurate automatic movement than the Timex quartz. They’re both good watches for their prices, but quite different. I’d probably let the size differences determine your decision. Do you like a larger or a smaller watch? Secondary I’d go by the dial aesthetics. The Seiko is more of a traditional pilots watch dial and the Timex is more of a army field watch style.

    I watch all your reviews, and appreciate the vast majority of them. However, I think you are not the right type of reviewer to do budget pieces. You seem condescending in tone and regard. You won't even wear the piece! The review ends up speaking more about you than it does the watch. This watch is not to be compared with all other watches, just those in the budget segment. It's like comparing a VW Beetle to a Porsche 911, or "Frozen" to "Gandhi" - they are in such vastly differing segments, one must treat them as such- even though they are, at the base level, the same type item.
    The fact that a budget option with these features even exists at this price point is amazing. Thank God for capitalism.
    Not trying to be mean, just constructive in my opinion. Hard to do in type, I hope it comes across as such. Cheers friend, I am looking forward to the next video review.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm sorry to hear that your impression was that I was condescending. Other than pointing out a few specifics about the watch I didn't love, I thought the review was fairly complimentary. The Expedition is a decent watch, probably the best field watch option in the Sub-$50 price segment.
      That I didn't wear it much is a function of how much time I have to dedicate to any specific watch I review. I've done nearly 100 watch reviews this past year and I can't wear them all for much time, especially when I have to choose from watches I get for the sole purpose of review versus watches in my permanent collection that I love and want to wear as much as possible.
      I tend to compare watches at different price points a lot, when they're of the same style. This is because there isn't often similar watches of the same style at the same price point to compare to one another. In the field watch genre for example, there isn't that I am aware of, several quality $50 options. But there is this quality Timex option, there's a quality $100 option from Seiko, a quality $300 option from Hamilton, and so on. I find it interesting to look at it from the perspective of, "What can I get for my money at several different tiers."
      I do appreciate the feedback very much though, and thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts.

    • @pjfsr7024

      You probably already made your choice, but all I can say is: Mine's 8 years old with the original strap ( I did lose the little leather band ), been in pools, lakes and showers, if I want to hear the tick, it's got to be close to my ear, I can't hear it at arm's length. I haven't had to correct the time since November and as of today I'm off 1.5 seconds from government time clock. It's been on communication towers, UG vaults, mud etc.
      I paid 35$ for it and i buy another in a heartbeat.

Under your own words we should have more poor reviews… The movement it's too bad it's a secret. But you could tell people the life expectancy 5 to 10 years…I give up… It's a cool watch hope to get 10 years that's it when you counter Dick yourself and go on and on it's just not accurate

      I haven't put this one through any sort of hard use so I can't say one way or the other how durable it is, but for the price and the style it would make for a fine daily wear watch.

    • @silvanigra
      @silvanigra 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely great for daily use/office use. I was just commenting on its reliability for 'field use', as an outdoors watch (it's called 'Expedition', right?). I've read lots of reviews that don't sound too promising in that respect - crown simply falling off, loosing time in a few months from purchase, etc. etc.
      I really like the design and I wish they would put a bit more effort into making this a reliable little watch, but I'm afraid I'll have to keep looking for now...

      FlorinU I have had several through the years. Abused the hell out of them. Every couple years put a $5.00 battery in it. Took it swimming, snorkeling, in the hot tub etc. Actually gave a couple away to people needing a work watch. Last I checked they are still going. Every Timex I have had has been VERY robust. I even buy used ones even cheaper, & still use for years.
