What is your opinion of the casio privia px150? I've been in love with that digital piano ever since I've played on it years ago and the chance has come up for me to buy the yamaha p115 for a reduced price.
Hi...I just got a P115 nad there is a small piece of fabric. Really tiny comming out from the side of one of the speakers. Is that something to worry about?
I'm between Yamaha p-115 and Yamaha Arius 162 or 142. Very important for me is the Weighted keys similar to the real piano. Which of these would you suggest me ? Thanks :-)
Hi. Can you set the P115 to dual piano so you get 2 piano sounds with an octave difference (P95 has two buttons for grand piano and when you press both you get the second voice added as octave)? Thank you.
Amie Yeh Hi, sorry I don't have a Medeli available, and also the P105 has been discontinued and replaced by the P115. Just a quick look online at the Medeli SP5500S spec suggests it's not as good as the Yamaha P115, also remember the key mechanism of Yamaha's comes from over a century of making real pianos so they really are one of the world's finest at it.
How can I connect the P115 to an external synth via midi cable? I know, there's no midi port, but maybe I can purchase a usb to midi interface? Thanks for your help. Yours video are so helpful. Roberto. Italy
Hey Chris, Your videos look great! but is there a way you can run the audio out of the keyboards, directly into your DAW? I know these pianos sound great on your end, but they sound monophonic and squeezed. Thanks. The Budda.
+buddha Hi, I understand re the sound. I chose not to take the sound through a DI as it doesn't present the capabilities of the onboard speakers. But I think you make a good point though, and I plan to demonstrate both the natural speaker sounds and a DI feed in a lot of future videos. :-)
hi please help me to chose right thing. i need digital piano that have full size & full Weight key. i want heavy key like as piano.this is so important to me. i have ~ 500 dollar . please guide me. what about Korg models?
Hi, between this and the DGX 650, which is better for a 7 year old beginner? She is just into her 3rd lesson on an acoustic piano at the school. We are looking to find something cheap and near acoustic in terms of touch and sound so that she can practise at home. The acoustics are over our budget at the moment. Over where I come from, Yamaha is having a sale on both models (complete with stand and pedals), and the difference between them is about 50 pounds. Both wife and I are totally music illiterate, so it's kind of hard for us to make a sound decision. Should we look at other brands / models too?
Stephen Tay Good question! - When it comes to just the piano playing there is not a great big difference between DGX650/P115, the big differences are in what else you can do and there's no right or wrong, it's a personal thing. The DGX650 has a little computer screen on it and lot's of interactive games to help you learn, which is very engaging for a youngster, but I know a few parents who consider that a distraction from learning! It really depends on the child. The P115 is very good quality and as you can tell from the video I'm really impressed with it, but it's designed with a purpose; to be portable, and although it has a quality piano style feel it does little else compared to the DGX650, and this might be considered boring by some youngsters!
ePianos.co.uk From my own personal point of view (as a piano teacher) I consider any time that a young student of mine spends sitting at their piano and not in front of their computer as a victory! So I tend to favour the DGX650 because it's so much more engaging and fun. Quite a nice feature is I can ask a student to practice at home and record their best performance, they can then copy it to a USB stick and bring it to the lesson for me to hear. I can also record a complicated left hand piece for them to take home and practice the right hand etc. Very clever and much more in tune with modern technology. But as I said before, some children do respond better with a more focussed method without the distractions of the extra features. It's a tricky choice but I think you're the best person to make the decision.
ePianos.co.uk Thank you for the detailed information, I really appreciate your insight! I didn't know the DGX650 has a learning feature! Will have to discuss with my wife on whether she prefers that to be available to our girl. Some other questions come to mind: on the DGX650, there's a usb to host connection. Is an iOS program available to connect to it? I've tried the one for P115 and I can only choose 2 models and I don't see DGX650 there. For polyphony, 192 vs 128, is that a really big difference for a beginning student? Lastly, between the 2 pianos, which will a student outgrow faster? Or I should rephrase it this way: if a student wants to take graded exams, which model will last longer?
Stephen Tay There are a number of very good iOS apps that Yamaha have made for their keyboards, but the most practical ones for learning are NoteStar and MyMusicRecorder, check them out here: uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/apps/
Stephen Tay It's worth noting that the NoteStar (which is particularly good) is much improved if you can play it through the onboard speakers of the keyboard itself, the DGX650 has a input to do this (using a cable) but the P115 does not. You can use the iPad speaker but its a little weak. Polyphony is not a massive thing for a 7yo beginner right now, but 4-5 grades/years down the line it could be, if they improve fast, and it's really different for everyone then, then they'll begin to notice the limitations of lower polyphony. It's a difficult thing to explain to a non-musician, the best analogy is the one I use in the videos; it's like being a painter and only having say 3 shades of green in your palette rather than 8, you can still paint grass with 3 shades, but if you had more options you'd produce something much better. I hope that makes sense!
Hey man I need help, I found a really good deal online on a used yamaha p115, the guy didn't say it was fully functional or not but he says it is mint condition. What should I check on the piano if I do buy it? Please help!
+ePianos.co.uk ... one more question - I plan to buy P-115, but I want to make nice custom wooden stand for it (oak tree), so if you can tell me where can I find exact measures of piano parts that are mounted on stand and way they are screwed in, so I can plan how to make top side of stand on which piano will sit.
Great comparison! I'm a drummer that's just starting to play piano, so this is a whole new world to me and I don't really know much about pianos and keyboards, so your video was very helpful to decide that the P-115 was what I was looking for. However, after 2 or 3 days of purchasing it, I realized that the synthesis, sample or timbre, if you prefer, is uneven as you go through the keyboard, the former diiffers in some keys. Is it normal? Should I ask for a change? Thanks. (Sorry for my English, as it's not my native language). Thank you so much.
Saben el precio p115 .. quisiera saber soy pianista . Estoy coon teclado de teclas de sintetizador.. lo que me gusstas son las teclas pesadas para piano se siente con mas presencia...como musica
I have wanted to play on piano all my life so now I am choosing digital piano as beginner but I want something very good but affordable. I am thinking about Yamaha p105 or p45, what do you think is better? :-) I have tried them booth at the shop and p105 felt better so should I go for it? Only thing which holds me is the price - 105 costs the same as 45 set with stand... :(
KertysM Hi, The P105 is a great instrument for it's extra features, the P45 is a newer product so even though its the lower version- it does sound incredible. If you're not so bothered by all the features you are probably better with the new P45 which has only been launched a few weeks ago www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-p45-digital-keyboard---bundle-offer-749-p.asp
***** In the video I'm using these: www.epianos.co.uk/adjustable-double-braced-x-stand-for-portable-stage-pianos-583-p.asp you do not have to use the L85, the stands I use in the video work just fine and don't wobble at all. L85 is nice option to have but if you need to transport it the L85 doesn't break down without having to unscrew it!
Very good reviews! One correction: you are saying P155 instead of P115 (in this video and another one with 115). Speaking of P155, would you say it is still better than P155? I know it was discontinued, but you can still buy it.
Andrei Dinu Thanks - Its hard to keep track sometimes! - P155 would be a better spec than P115 for sure, in fact the P155 was the predecessor to the P255 so it shares a lot of the features, including the £1000+ price tag although I suspect you can get a good used one for less now. Do try and test the P115 first though because it's very impressive for the money.
No problem :) Thanks for the advice, I will check the P115. I am really torn about this, as I want to teach my daughters to play and ther are really small, so I don't know how much abuse it could take...at the same time, I have been a musician all my life and I need the instrument for myself as well, so I would pay extra for the poliphony and the CP engine...I gues the P115 would be the right compromise.
should I get the p155 (600 GBP 4 year old used) or this (489 GBP new)? I don't have much space and my budget around 500ish pounds. Does the old p155 still has better sound than p115?
Hello, I currently own a practice keyboard (Yamaha PSR-262), I'm learning but I keep getting put off by the bad sound quality, so I think getting a quality keyboard would help keep me interested. I'm looking at getting one of these, but would it justifiable to buy one of these keyboards at an early learning stage for the sake of having better sound?
Most certainly and not only because of the better sound. Having piano-style weighted keys will improve your dexterity over the keys and help you improve faster. Personally I find weighted keys much more forgiving as they offer a moments resistance before actually playing the note. It won't take you long to adjust to them and you'll prefer it eventually I guarantee it. Hope this helps!
+Gary Lee Thats right Gary, The P105 was replaced by the P115, this video is highlighting the new model's features and benefits for those who were considering the old model before.
+rik Van Moll Good question! - P120 is quite old now, about 12 years, which is a long time in keyboard years. P120 only had 64 note polyphony but P115 has 192 which is much better. Over time the better technology filters down into cheaper keyboards, at the time the P120 cost around £1000 but P115 is new and only £450-ish. In my opinion P115 is a better keyboard and better value for money.
+ePianos.co.uk thanks for your answer, i am thinking to buy a digital piano, and I am thinking to buy the yamaha p 115, if you have a better option of piano that is around the same price would be very helpful.

Hi...I just got a P115 nad there is a small piece of fabric. Really tiny comming out from the side of one of the speakers. Is that something to worry about?
Excellent review!
Amazing video, thank you!!
I just bought a p115 when I unboxed it I found a red paper strip stuck in the front between the 2 black plastic case, anyone know what that is?
P-115 seems to have a better piano (?) sound??
No
I'm between Yamaha p-115 and Yamaha Arius 162 or 142.
Thank you.
Will it be possible for you to compare Medeli SP5500S and Yamaha p105?
Amie Yeh Hi, sorry I don't have a Medeli available, and also the P105 has been discontinued and replaced by the P115. Just a quick look online at the Medeli SP5500S spec suggests it's not as good as the Yamaha P115, also remember the key mechanism of Yamaha's comes from over a century of making real pianos so they really are one of the world's finest at it.
Great videos, very clear!
At 4:20 you have both the grande and strings simultaneously. Is there a way to do that with the Casio PX-150 as well?
How can I connect the P115 to an external synth via midi cable? I know, there's no midi port, but maybe I can purchase a usb to midi interface? Thanks for your help. Yours video are so helpful. Roberto. Italy
***** You're correct there is no MIDI output, but it's easy enough to buy a USB-MIDI interface, they're not expensive. Good luck!
Can you name one? Thank you
Hey Chris,
Your videos look great! but is there a way you can run the audio out of the keyboards, directly into your DAW?
I know these pianos sound great on your end, but they sound monophonic and squeezed.
Thanks.
The Budda.
+buddha Hi, I understand re the sound. I chose not to take the sound through a DI as it doesn't present the capabilities of the onboard speakers. But I think you make a good point though, and I plan to demonstrate both the natural speaker sounds and a DI feed in a lot of future videos. :-)
Whats the best one out of the whole yamaha keyboard series?
i have 1 question: does the p-115 come with a petal?
+isaiah weaver Yes.
Yes but it's a basic plastic one. I bought an FC4 for a better feel. But it's up to you
Can I beginn piano with a portable piano?
hi please help me to chose right thing. i need digital piano that have full size & full Weight key. i want heavy key like as piano.this is so important to me. i have ~ 500 dollar . please guide me. what about Korg models?
Lion how about yamaha?
Please help!
what is the price of yamaha p 115 in usd?
Should I buy Roland fp30 or p115??
Hello could you tell me that would it good to start to learn piano with yamaha np12?
Yamaha p serie or Clavinova Serie?
wow, genial hice una buena compra mi primer piano P105. Thank you.
Why polyphony over 88?
If u touch the 89th its a note u played before
Let’s say you had a Polyphony of 88. If you press a C note, then hit a D 88 times. It will cut that C note. I hope that makes sense
Which amplifier and speaker set would you recommend for home use for getting even more better sound than embedded speakers can provide?
+BBP-Srdjan Yamaha DXR series are very good, or the Stagepas mini PA systems.
ePianos.co.uk Thank you.
That is not normal and you should ask for an exchange from the dealer you purchased it from.
Would it be possible for you to do a Yamaha P115 v P255 comparison that could help my decision on which model purchase/ thank you :)
James Wood Yes, one is coming up soon.
Thanks a bundle looking foward to it, will you let me know when its up? Keep up the good work so far you are the best demo guy to my ears at least :-)
Thanks! - Subscribe to the channel and you should get an alert when we upload new videos.
+ePianos.co.uk I've subscribed thanks look forward to your demo & hopefully it will help me decide upon which model (P115 or P255) to purchase. thanks
Do you ship to America?
Can you please help. I bought a P105 but don't know how to use the metronome on it. I can't keep time. I know...I'm useless. Cheers.
You can download the P105 manual for free here: europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/pianos/p_series/p-105/downloads.html
What's that song at 5:49?
Lady Madonna - The Beatles
Do they have Bluetooth?
what song does he play as an example?
Rida Khalil sounds familiar
Which keyboard stands are you using. For the P155 do we have to use the L85 stand? Thanks!
Andrei Dinu Haha! Thank you, I knew I'd get it wrong at some point.
Thank you for this video sir. If i may ask, how did you record the p 45 sound?
+Adrian Cornetto With an external mic. A zoom Q3HD.
Helpful! Thank you!
should I get the p155 (600 GBP 4 year old used) or this (489 GBP new)? I don't have much space and my budget around 500ish pounds. Does the old p155 still has better sound than p115?
Oj Dana Dana Pani kochana.. wciskasz nam kity jakies od rana
Thinking of getting this piano. Is it still relevant to today's standard or are there better options available for around the same price?
There are still the best on the market I'd say.
Does P105 or P115 able to use the Yamaha smart pianist app?
P-115 can. P105 cant
Is the P115 a good piano if you are a beginner and want to learn how to play?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our students here use it as their first piano.
+ePianos.co.uk Alright thank you!
can I connect them to the computer and use it as a master keyboard?
Yes
Thanks, great video!
What type of keyboard is the silver one in the back?
That's gotta be a yamaha Genos 5 maybe
It's the Tyros 5!
Can someone recommend me a piano that is similar to P-115 but i dont need all of these modes ! i only need the Grand one
he barely talked about the p105...
p105 has stopped production. u cant buy them new anymore.
+Gary Lee Thats right Gary, The P105 was replaced by the P115, this video is highlighting the new model's features and benefits for those who were considering the old model before.
Mochi ā
winkypie i have one p105
Does the p-115 still have the mellow piano sound from p-105?
Yes
WHat the is piano behind the guy with the small speakers ?
serie?
Yamaha Tyros 5
I need the name of every song he played
Does anyone know the song played at the end of the video? ive heard it many times, but I never found out what song it is. thanks
+Silvania pedra He improvises all the time :-)
Hi there..thanks, but I m talking about the song played while the credits were being showed. it s a popular jazz song.
and between yamaha p120 and p 115 wich one is better?
Is the key board good enough for a piano student?
Hi, dry509. Yes, they certainly are. You might like to know that both the Yamaha P105 and P115 have been replaced now by the Yamaha P-125. I made a video reviewing the P-125 here: th-cam.com/video/ladcCcxDXlU/w-d-xo.html
Also, if you're looking for a piano for a student, we've just started a BIG sales on beginners' pianos on our website here: www.epianos.co.uk/beginners-piano-clearance-sale/
I hope that helps,
Chris
@@ePianoscouk Hello. I currently have a P105 and I am looking for a noticeable upgrade in piano action and hopefully natural piano sound? Thanks in advance.
this question might be a bit stupid but can i use the p45 as a midi controller in f.e. ableton or logic or performer?
+Skrcsbrt Yes
can you help me with something? I would like to know which ones better the roland ro 301 or the yamaha p115
+robin singh P115 is certainly more portable, the Roland RP301 is more of a fixed piece of furniture, do you need to take it out for gigs? or is it staying in one place at home? Look at the Yamaha YDP142/YDP162 also, I made a video comparing them here: Yamaha ARIUS YDP142 vs YDP162 comparison - What piano should I buy?
+ePianos.co.uk Here;s the link: th-cam.com/video/wSHN_sSkNLU/w-d-xo.html
+ePianos.co.uk I dont gig so its just staying at one place and playing it
I would like to spend up to 600-700 € for a new piano, I play already for 8 Years and I am currently using a 80€ keyboard :D Time to upgrade, which one should I buy? The P115?
+IPsyChARTz Have a look at my video comparing P115 vs DGX650 - you might be surprised what you get for your money.
+ePianos.co.uk Okay thank you very much! :)
What is the cost of P115
Ya no se vende nuevo
May i play piano concerto no.1 by tchaikovsky on this p115?
Ludwig Van Beethoven It's not allowed on this model, sorry.
@@DushtYantr Ha....ha..... Perfect!
