    After 50 years of using neck/shoulder straps found a Nikon F5 was a bit heavy for around the neck for hours. Tried this strap and with my right hand lightly supporting it, it is like it isn't even weighing down the L shoulder. Will be using it on my medium format film camera and that makes using that camera in full dress totally possible. As an old guy, it was definitely a new trick. I used to ridicule this strap as something that indicated a newbie's first purchase. No more.

      And eliminating the strap swing when bending over. I have THREE $70 nikon clear 77mm filters on my desk all broken when a camera swung forward.

    Sold!! Thx man! New photographer who’s climbing the ranks and finally needs a strap.

    The one problem I see is that I keep a tripod quick release screwed to my camera, so going back and forth between strap and tripod would be a bother.

    Great video. To the point and not too long. If only all gear review videos were this concise.

    I totally agree Scott, Black Rapid straps are the BEST. I've been using them for years and recommend them to new and seasoned photographers all the time. You make some great points in your video. :-)

    Nice commercial for BlackRapid, but I was hoping to actually get more information about their straps, see them in action, more indept pros/cons, features of various straps etc.

      Check out the link to a playlist in the description, I have a bunch, a video on each strap individually talking about all the pros and cons and how they are to use in what situations in general, like you said. This video in particular was just that, something I wanted to make just to talk about what I like about them overall, not a review. Hope the other videos help you more, if you're still interested. Thanks for watching anyway!

    Firstly great hat go Bruins! I was wondering which strap you like best for heavy gear? Do you like or use the hybrid strap for two cameras?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yeah! A Bruins fan! :) I do often use the Hybrid for 2 cameras, rather than the Double. It's just a bit simpler overall and still comfortable. For heavier gear any of the more padded versions like the Sport or Hybrid have worked great for me :)

    • @davewatson4437
      @davewatson4437 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the info just ordered the hybrid! the Bruins need to get it done in Game 7, they have to figure out Anderson he has been unreal!

      Hope you enjoy it!! I really need to catch up on the Bruins :( Nearly impossible to watch it over here without paying for some expensive sports channel. I kind of follow what's going on through other people's facebook updates haha.

      Ahh, I'm in out in the boonies of Japan at the moment though and that's why I'm not able to see it so easily.. I'm sure I could live stream it somewhere but the timing ends up being tricky :( I'll do what I can! Go Bruins!

    Not long ago a frien got in touch with Nikon regarding straps atached to the tripod screw but apparently they recommended NOT using the tripod screw mount for anything other than a tripod. Since then I put my BR in a draw and never used it again.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard lots of people say that before and from my experience I'd just pay attention to how much the cameras weigh... anything remotely heavy should be attached to a tripod collar or at the very least use a secondary point of attachment. I get that it's a lot of weight hanging on there and it's not specifically made for that, but I hardly believe the little metal triangle strap dongle thingies that are included with the camera are much stronger if at all.

    A pity about their really unclear website. I have a mirrorless camera but us large lenses. It is really unclear if I should purchase the strap for mirrorless cameras or the standard one? Really unclear what the difference is for the mirrorless camera strap.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Marc Honore straps for mirrorless will likely just be smaller/thinner and others will have wider more padded shoulder straps to support the weight more comfortably, so I’d advise to choose based on weight not which system. All the straps use the same hardware though so it won’t be a safety or reliability issue at all. Hope that helps!
