The Kalawewa was built by the great King Datusena in 460 A.D. It is a twin reservoir complex (Kala Wewa & Balalu Wewa) with a 123 MCM million cubic meters capacity. This reservoir has a stone-made spillway. YodaEla/Jayganga is commenced from Here in Kalawewa. It transfers water upto Thisawewa.
