    I direct tied lures/plugs for over 40 years for trolling because that's the way I learned and the whisper fisherman say that is the best way. I finally woke up and started using the snaps and I will never go back to any direct tie as there is so much less time and work involved and most of all a lot less waste of line leader. My wife and I use the same leader all day long and are quickly able to switch lures.
    The snaps don't effect the action and the fish don't care. If the fish are not biting with a snap, they won't bite with a direct tie. Good video.

    Another thing that's great about snaps and snap swivel is that you can take your bait off at the end of the day and just clip the snap to your hook keeper

    You pretty much tie up the same way I do. It really helps to have more that one rod while fishing. I use to laugh at those bass guys with all their poles… then I started doing it, and now I struggle to just bring one. It’s nice to have a rod for spinners with snap swivel, one for jerks and one for fineness stuff. It’s a rabbit hole.

    Great video...as someone who has been fishing since the 80s and has seen a thing or two, I agree with almost everything you said with two exceptions 1) IMO there is no need to ever use a snap...always use a direct tie for the best presentation. Sure, a snap is convenience but hurts the presentation too much. 2) As far as spinners and line twist, a swivel is a must, but JUST a small bearing swivel without a snap and tied on a foot or two above the spinner. Also, this is really only necessary when trolling. When just casting and retrieving a direct tie is fine even with a spinner.

      @humbugvideos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100 % agree with the swivel for trolling. I knew someone was going to make a comment about the swivel 2 feet above the line, I was actually thinking about putting that in the video. Perhaps if this does well I'll make a part 2. Thanks for the comment, appreciate the support!

    I surf fish most of the time and the lures I use are 4 to 6 inches long and snaps barely registers because of the size. I've since moved on to tac clips which are even more streamlined.

      No I don’t think so! They are super versatile, but I just think they can sometimes affect the natural presentation of your bait. Experiment around with what works for u and lemme know what u find out!
