  • Tactical Angler Power Clip: This is the fastest simplest and most secure way to attach your line to lure. (Get em here bit.ly/TAclips )
    In this review I go over the results of a range of strength tests covering multiple brands and styles. Certain steps that should be taken before attaching certain plugs.
    And show you a tremendous variety of baits using clips of varying sizes. In an effort to remove any guesswork when it comes to choosing the proper sizes.
    Not just a glorified paper clip....well kinda...But they'll enable you to be more efficient with your time on the water. No more trimming back and retying leaders after a few lure changes. And no fussing with snaps and latches when rapid changes need to be made.......And do it headache free even while wearing gloves in the nastiest of conditions.

      @Stay Ready definitely, these would work for pike and muskies. Together with wire leader if you like. Smaller sizes for bass too.
      They will not replace swivels, TA clips and swivels have different puropses. Also, i am not concerned with loosing plugs to fish with these clips, i am confident that this is very unlikely. Unless you are using the clip he showed on the right in the beginning of the video, in which he demostrated a flaw that can lose plugs.

    Love using clips like this. I lost too many big pike on the Coast Lock style from them opening up. I use a piece of clear tubing to slide down over this style of clip to make sure the bait isn't worked free while fighting a fish...it happened a couple times but i'm using a different brand, so I'm going to give this brand a try and the bulk pack is a great price.

    I like using the Clips. I have supplemented the Clip with a short piece of Mackerel Feather Tubing over the Clip. It might add not anything but it is the perceived confidence factor that the Clip is more resistant to opening..

    On your transporting the Backlash clips , try using a large safety pin instead of fishing line , that way you can remove as needed and you don't have to return every time .

    I'm not a newbie and I don't use swivels but I occasionally use snaps. They're very good especially on a plugging reel where are you want to prospect by quickly changing out plugs and lures. I tried the Tactical Anglers clips I like the mechanism but the diameter of the wiring is too big for lot of hook eyes.
    Great design, nice and compact, but you need to use a wire material that lets you get that same strength with a much smaller diameter.

    Great video man, I would like to add my experience with a ta clips. I was using 50 lb clips for everything, till I was in jetty country and got snagged on a rock with my ss needle fish. I was able to free the plug, but after close look at the clip, saw it bent out a bit. I was able to bend it back with pliers, and catch a few fish over 30 in. with no problem. But that made me switch to the 75 lb clip, with no issues till I started pencil popping with loaded cotton Cordells. After 5 fish on a 6 inch Cordell, I noticed the lip of the plug chewed up bad, from the clip, still caught fish but made start tying a loop knot for that plug. Another important note is the knot that you use to tie your leader to the clip. I highly recommend a single line knot, double lined knots, like the Palomar knot have been known to slip cause the double line doesnt seat in the point of the clip. And when a fish bites, destroys the clip easily, or cast offs. I use a uni knot for clips cause it is almost impossible to tie wrong in wind and darkness, and gets tighter with every pull and is probably the strongest single lined knot that can be tied with any pound test, just changing the the # of turns in the knot, more with lower pound test, less with higher pound test. Hope this comment helps, this video answered a few questions I had, greatly appreciated.

    thanks for posting - good, informative video! I have been looking into this type of clip as I am been using snap type since I started fishing. I like the ability to quickly switch out baits vs tying direct. However, I know there is some debate as to tying direct vs using hardware. Folks tying direct argue that once you get used to it, its as fast as using a clip or snap. They also say hardware like a clip weights your lure down creating an unnatural presentation (for example, with topwater lures). I'll likely explore with clips but just wanted your take on that debate.
    Also, wasnt clear from the video but do you tie a swivel to your main line then leader then the clip (looks like a improved clinch knot to the clip)? Thanks!

      For FW all around...I've been 100% fully invested in them for about 3 years or longer....whatever year it was they came out..I made the switch. Size 0 and size 1's. Best clip ever made for the small stuff...I've pulled the rings off 99% of my fw lures and if i don't have a fastach..i'm screwed because tying tight to the eye is no bueno...Never once had them fail either..i use em with jigs and worms too!.. I've tried them and compared them to decoy spiral snaps, welded owner duolock, the spros, norman speed clips even the 50lb ta clip...ETC....the size 0 and 1 fastach is the best of them all..one of the only mustad products that's any good it seems.

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use them all the time on rip baits and jerk baits. Bluefish thrash and breach a bit more violently than a pike does. That is a good fish to test pretty much any piece of tackle...They have jaws strong enough to cleave fish cleanly in two. Fight beyond what they're size would indicate. Those yellow eyed demons are know as tackle destroyers. Combine that with being able to catch more than 10 an hour...and that's a good test :)
      I've never had one fail or drop a lure. Mustad's fasttach clip is another good one
      Thanks Ted, you as well!

    Great video thanks ; myself bass fishing freshwater and using MS slammer 7 inch wake baits , topwater lunker punker and some Huddleston 6 and 8 inch trout , 4” shell crackers baits ; 65 # braid , with and without leader ; wondering if the 50 or the 75 would be better less visibility on the 50? Thanks John

      For bass fishing you can go 50. Never really found the need to go higher

    Can you please do a video like this but with the spro prime snap I’m wondering if spro will Stan dip to its reputation of making the best barrel swivels fluke bucktails and more.

    Is it advisable to connect a swivel to the ring for the minnow lure?

    I watched this all the way thru and I have never used a clip in my life [67 years and counting]. I am definitely going to try some of these though. It was a fun watch if nothing else to get ideas on what plugs to try. I make my own butterfly jigs and been tying loop knots but I definitely see the advantage to these clips. Do those tactical clips come in black?

      Thats a good thought about them being black nickel. I think they only have them in the steel finish. Don't quote me on that.

    Great video. I do have a question about snapping to spoons. I was taught to use a swivel with spoons to prevent line twist as they flutter on drops.

      +AFORWW I've always found swivels don't really do much for line twist at least when using braid. If the Lure spins under tension only a bb swivel would make a difference. But I'd say give both ways a try and see if you experience anything different than what I've experienced

      Tackle Advisors thanks. I just received some P-line Technical clips. Not sure how I feel about them. Same exact design but they are a little thick and only 44lb. Have you ever used them? I've not used the TA clips but these P-line clips are so thick I can't get them through the eye of my 5/0 berkley or Owners twist lock hooks.

      +AFORWW you're welcome. I haven't used them. Best suggestion would be to tie one on and give it a pull until it starts to flex a bit. All paper clip types have a little give and some resilience. You should be able to tell if they'll hold before you bend em beyond the point of springing back

      Tackle Advisors just a heads up, the Tactical Angler clips are much better than the P-Line clips. No trouble getting them into 99% of my lures/hooks. So just like your results smaller, lighter, better fitting for the win.

    Really good video. I was looking to make my own Jika Rig and I see a lot of diy rigs use a Duo-Loc snap. I have used for crankbaits for many years the Norman Speed Clips. What are your thoughs for trying one of the power clips vs say the norman clips or the newer mustad kvd fastach clip?

      So Varivas has a swivel to welded ring hook perfect for jiga rigs...they also have clip on tungsten weights.......wait for a big sale...you can stack coupon codes and get 30 to 50% off everything. Ifish on youtube should have a 10% off code...that stacks with whatever other codes they're running. I like fastach clips for jiga rigs...size 1 or 0.....always use them..never let me down.

      Sure...what did you want to know. I have all the sizes. And variants. They make tiny ones as well as larger slim versions. Wander 95's are true launchers. The one in the vid is an 80....A billion colors too!

    I fish on the west coast with surface irons ,poppers, and shimano waxwing jigs. Would the jig still swim just as fine with the clip on? or would tying the line to the jig be better?

    • @ChiefToad
      @ChiefToad 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally yes. I have found that in almost every case the clip works well. If it fits through the eye and doesn't hang up on anything if you move it all around, use it. I personally use these and Sea Striker fast snaps on poppers and waxwings all the time.

      They swim as good as tying a loop knot. I use them when fishing irons, so I can change out size, color, orwhat have you. But after landing a yellowtail or tuna I always cut off a few feet of leader and retie it. I've started using wire when around kelp so these make it so much faster.
