Until he almost hit the wall, I think he figured the bigger goal was to win the Tour instead of the stage. It was a nice gesture to let Wout win the stage though and the way they worked as a team and strategy.......was awesome to see, they sacrificed for each other the entire tour. Super critical words last night in the Netherlands’ most important cycling talk show.
People like Marcel Kittel were among the guests, and they were extremely disappointed how TJV handled press conference questions regarding doping after the finish. They were saying that after being so dominant this seeason, TJV has a responsibility to be transparent about their performances in order to not re-create much of the doubt that the Armstrong era brought to cycling.
Since TJV is a Dutch team and the talk show is usually extremely biased in favor of them, I was quite taken aback by these strong words. What are your opinions guys?

The people saying JV gave away the win are being disrespectful toward Van Aert. Van Aert is a tank and he was the fastest. I imagine after the near crash, JV was thinking "right, let's just get this home rather than trying to be a hero." WVA makes going to the edge look easy. JV nearly lost everything trying to match him and it may well be that he didn't have the legs to keep doing it and be confident of maintaining control. Would have been just a silly risk.
Van Aert won fair and square and on merit.
