As a Slovenian cycling fan I do hope that Pog will recover in some way or another and really have a go at it in the 3rd week. The thing is, today Pog did a better preformance than he and Roglic did in 2020 it's just that Jonas was simply the better one today and is the best rider in this tour right now. Yes, Pog did have an injury and it could've have taken a toll on him because he hasn't had a proper mountain stage in a few months but Jonas really seems unbeatable as of right now. But we will really see tommorow if Pog just had a bad dsy or if he will lose time. I do hope, for the sake of this tour to not be boring that Pog will attack in some way or another and that he is not completley done, I feel like that if UAE really get a good strat going on like Jumbo did in 2022 Pog just might suceed (yes UAE don't have riders as good as Kuss and Roglic and Wout) but I feel like they burned themselves out today for no reason as they made the mistake of letting that big of a group go up the road. The best thing in my opinion to do right now is for them to kinda sit back whilek Bora and Jumbo try to control things and maybe then launch somethinf for Pog. But I deffo see Jonas as the bettee rider right now despite being Slovene. Also been watching cycling only for three years so if anyone has some better opinions/views on this I completley understand!
I think if Pog can avoid big deficits the next week or so, he may have a chance to gain fitness as the tour progresses....The injury has wound his clock back a little.
You should always be wary of comparing performances from different years. What was the racing like prior to the stage? How much has already been wrung out of their legs? What was the temperature/ wind direction? Just a few degrees cooler can have a huge impact on performance. While I agree Jonas was fast today more then Pog was slow, I also don't think that current Pog or Heanley would of beat 2020 Pog by 50 seconds to the summit.
As a Dane I of course hope Jonas will win, but I pray that Tadej will be back to his usual self today and attack on Tourmalet. It would be so great for the race. I also hope that, Jai Hindley can defend his yellow jersey.
I hope you are right. But if it develops like it does normally with Jonas, he gets stronger and stronger. His biggest strength is recovery and getting better than everyone else in week 3. But I really hope for the sake of the excitement, that Hindley Can stay close and that Pogacar will get better as the tour goes on. I still want Vingegaard to win though 🇩🇰

Wow, your highlights are on par with today’s stage entertainment. Really nice video and fantastic day at the Tour. I am always thrilled when unexpected things happen and riders cannot rely on plans made in the teambus. What a joy to watch. Pogacar is lacking fundamentals this year because of that less than ideal preparation after the crash in April
@@karl8805 So you think Pog lost 1 minute on Jonas on purpose? I dont think so. We saw last year that he has big problems in taking back that Kind of time on Jonas. Also Pog getting caught from Kuss and the group behind isnt an good sign either.
Superb production and commentary - best analysis going around....congrats on a brilliant product :) Looking forward to an exciting Tour and more great LR insights!!!
Sepp and Jonas together is the ultimated mountain machine. By the way, Ciccone was furious when he crossed the line today, he wanted to race and take leads, but his director told him not to. I wonder why...
the stills interspersed within the video is a nice touch and it's good to be able to take a few seconds to look at group without them moving. gives a slightly different perspective. well done
For all those wondering why they were so much quicker on Maria Blonque than in 2020. I heard there was new Asphalt on the whole climb or atleast on parts so that also is a factor
So, as I stated since the beginning, and noone believed it: When Pogacar attacks, he gains a handful of seconds. When Vingegaard attacks, he gains a minute. Also, it wasn't Jumbo who was the weaker team, it was just van Aert who wasn't at the same level as last year... 🙂
I think it is also notable that the group that was with Jonas on the last flat kilometers were probably not allowed to pull for him. Also heartbreaking when they then all overtook him in the sprint to the finish line. Understandable, but still painful to see
Not really heartbreaking he took time on the others and it is actually faster having riders on your wheel than if the breakaway riders had been dropped.
@@cornishalps9870 yeah, I don't think Jonas really cared too much at that point. Now perhaps if he could have persuaded Ciccone to work earlier on they could have done something, and I think Ciccone wanted to but got told "NO!" by the car... so that's all ok, that is just normal bike racing tactics, nothing personal.
Jai Friggin 'Socks on Catepillars' Hindley.......what a beautiful race! I watched the last hour in the wee hours with a lump in my throat. This Tour is shaping up into an absolute epic.
What a great stage! I'm starting to wonder if Hindley can be a contender. He actually looked fresher than anyone else at the finish. That's got to make some others look at him as a potential problem.
good job jonas ..this is what i say... wait in the mountain stage and see whos keep going into the line...now we see it but, its only the first mountain stage we can wait in the queen stage 😁
I love seeing Sepp Kuss and Matteo Jorgenson doing great work on the world stage. Sepp is such a fun climber to watch. Can't wait to see what unfolds tomorrow.
I mean, I believe it’s fair to say that Jonas is the better climber, look at his physique. Pogi has to put it up a noch, and it is so important for his own development that there actually is someone that pushes him to his limits.
Awesome tour, awesome stage! Was so surprised they let Hindley go I mean I won Giro last year not 5 years ago! And I was right they had no chance catching him! So glad if this tour isn't a one man battle!
I watched the highlights of this race on GCN yesterday evening and I didn't really understand how the race developed; how did such a large break with Hindley go? Thanks a lot, LR, for explaining all the tactics involved!
Was so excited for this analysis. The last 50km of this stage were absolutely insane! GC has been completely obliterated. Best TdF I've watched in a while and were only 6 stages in.
I agree with the comments that Vingegaard is a better climber on long mountains but to my mind the real reason Pogacar has problems is that he doesn't focus on the Tour in the way Jonas does. He wants to win the Ronde, LBL, Paris-Nice and essentially everything. Vingegaard's season is solely based around the Tour de France and he peaks for that and that alone. Pogacar can beat Jonas but not with this type of season plan.
Pogacar has won 4 out of 5 monuments and the Tour twice. That’s incredible. There’s way more to cycling than just the Tour. I would much rather support such a well rounded rider than someone who preps only for the Tour.
@@1barnet1 yes but to be a great cyclist you have to be good at everything like pogi or Merckx. I hate tdf merchants like Armstrong, vingegard, froome and others. There is not only the tour, a classic monument is better imo than most tours
@@matteogamba3236 I think that's a bit unfair. It's fine to prefer all-rounders (or people who animate races more) but there is also the fact it's simply easier for someone like Pogi to try and win Monuments than it would be for Jonas.
Imagine if Jonas was Remco, went it front and caught up a bunch of guys, asked the other guys in his group to take turns and nobody said yes, i'm pretty sure Remco would throw fits and tantrums !!
Unfortunately, while for a period it seemed that cycling was finally a healthy sport, now it's the other way around. We are going back to the 90s when there were dominant teams like postal service and even weak riders became superhumans. It's very boring and also danish people and north Europe teams are renewd for doping.
Maybe. Will depend on what Pog shows up. Jonas has always been conservative but now he has a TdF on his resume he is clearly acting when he smells blood. But the dynamic will be pretty different from now on. Bora is not as strong a team but Jai is a legitimate GC threat to everyone so it will be interesting how all the teams respond.
@@nelly-gu2qq I don't want it to be like that I just think Jonas will put 2 min on pogacar but I also think Hindley is stronger than pogacar so I think it will be a sprint to the line between Jonas and Hindley

It's astonishing, first couple of days it's -> Jonas isn't riding for Wout, they are doing it wrong. Now -> they are using a potential GC contender as domestique what a waste.
I think Kuss would do well in one week competitions, but not in three.
If Jonas gets a lock on yellow, he might be given the go-ahead to try for a later mountain stage win. He took one last year (or was it 2 yr ago?).
Buchmann deserves so much credit. The best stage I have ever witnessed.
I guess you didn’t see stage 11 of last years tour then ?
First mountain stage and it’s already in fireworks 💥.
A long way to go to Paris.
Stage 6 will be great to see if Pogacar can do something against Vingegaard and Jai defending the Yellow.
Bora should definitely get some riders ahead for Tourmalet tomorrow in case hindley struggles after todays big effort
It won’t really matter, when the grade goes up, the man with the yellow will have a big target on his back. No teammates will be able to help.
Given that Pog and Jonas also had big efforts he could be fine.
Jumbo and UAE may be happy to let Bora do the work tomorrow. Then counter punch each other with their climbing domestics.
@@adrianbuck8772i dont think pog really put in a big dig..
I think that was a "let him go chase, its a long 3 weeks" kinda day for pog.
😊
@@karl8805 So you think Pog lost 1 minute on Jonas on purpose?
I dont think so. We saw last year that he has big problems in taking back that Kind of time on Jonas. Also Pog getting caught from Kuss and the group behind isnt an good sign either.
Wasn't able to watch the stage yesterday. Thanks for the analysis Patrick, great job as always.
bro what a good contend it s my first time watching the full tour thx for theese videos
Superb production and commentary - best analysis going around....congrats on a brilliant product :) Looking forward to an exciting Tour and more great LR insights!!!
So nice to see a no-sprint finish! These guys were really racing today.
Vinge and Wout are hammers for Jumbo.....great Tour so far.
Sepp and Jonas together is the ultimated mountain machine. By the way, Ciccone was furious when he crossed the line today, he wanted to race and take leads, but his director told him not to. I wonder why...
the stills interspersed within the video is a nice touch and it's good to be able to take a few seconds to look at group without them moving. gives a slightly different perspective. well done
Brilliant analysis! Thank you so much!
Onya Poggy! Do the WVA dummy-spit H20 bottle spike thing again. I loved it! You’ve got heart and soul, the tour is yours for the taking!
Lets go Jonas!!
finally another team does something new and out there knowing they cant beat Pogi or Jonas on form alone. Love it from Jai and BORA just slipping away
Absolutely love to see it! lets see if they can keep the jersey tomorrow I doubt it but some say the yellow jersey gives you wings so lets see...
For all those wondering why they were so much quicker on Maria Blonque than in 2020. I heard there was new Asphalt on the whole climb or atleast on parts so that also is a factor
Excellent commentary on the stage!
Thanks for your videos, mate. Class!
Great commentary as always. Thanks for these awesome videos.
Sepp Kuss: the ultimate mountain Lieutenant 🫡
Thanks for the great videos. I get to watch the first half at work. Then kids kick in, keeps me completely up to speed. Big Cheers
Great tour and stage ,really takes you back to the days or armstrong, ulrich and pantani. Doping and all just stronger but more stealthy.
@cornishalps9870 What? It makes no difference if you are alone or people behind you in single line. It's just more frustrating.
Great job LR. I always really enjoy your reviews and analysis.
The tour is getting very interesting 🇩🇰🇦🇺👍
Great coverage. Thanks, LR team.
Great drama, great analysis as always! Thanks guys!
This video was awesome. Keep them comin
A banger video, as always. Love your content
Just watched Eurosports 1hour long highlights, this vid paints a better picture of the race!
Loved the video!
The only channel for TDF coverage!!!
So rare to see so much strategy chaos! What a fun stage to watch!
Great commentary!
good job jonas ..this is what i say... wait in the mountain stage and see whos keep going into the line...now we see it but, its only the first mountain stage we can wait in the queen stage 😁
My thanks. Carry on!
I love seeing Sepp Kuss and Matteo Jorgenson doing great work on the world stage. Sepp is such a fun climber to watch. Can't wait to see what unfolds tomorrow.
Thank you !
while I was watching this, I was anticipating your recap to see all of the strategies in greater detail
LR eres el mejor
Gracias mil!!!
@@MisterG64 My bad, it seems I was using this impression wrongly in my head, you are right. Thanks!
Been waiting for this the second the stage ended
We need this stage every year
Legendary move by Hindley, Konrad and Bookman
*Buchmann
I know :-D Said Bookman for fun :-)
I watched the highlights of this race on GCN yesterday evening and I didn't really understand how the race developed; how did such a large break with Hindley go? Thanks a lot, LR, for explaining all the tactics involved!
Nice job!
Was so excited for this analysis. The last 50km of this stage were absolutely insane! GC has been completely obliterated. Best TdF I've watched in a while and were only 6 stages in.
great stage
Disappointed ITV didn’t broadcast the fight for the breakaway, such exciting stuff.
Magic icebath for Pogi XD Great victory!
Sepp looking stronger than pogo and A yates wow crazy.
Was thinking the same. Our broadcaster said that the UAE team is so strong, but Jumbo has Sepp Kuss. Its a world class domestique.
The Jumbo juice is on another level this year. I bet of tadej joins jumbo he would smash Jonas.
just ketones...
@@matteogamba3236 cry some more you sad little excuse.
On every video, I said that Pog would regret taking those bonus seconds, since it didn't work last year, so why would it work this year...
Jonas, the legend
I am happy there is third team involved. Lets go! Pogačar is still my fav.
So thats it. Now we can warch sprints and maybe some escapers for stage. I hoped for a bit longer battle.
The tour is the most prestigious and most competitive bike race in the world.
There are worse things to win in cycling.
@@1barnet1 yes but to be a great cyclist you have to be good at everything like pogi or Merckx. I hate tdf merchants like Armstrong, vingegard, froome and others. There is not only the tour, a classic monument is better imo than most tours
@@matteogamba3236 Jumbo has a certain Belgium dude that is known to be an half decent all-rounder.
All my homies hate Jumbo Visma. What are these guys eating with their muesli in the morning? Absolute freak performances all across the team.
who had a great performance other than Ving and Kuss? WvA is nowhere near last years form
Unfortunately, while for a period it seemed that cycling was finally a healthy sport, now it's the other way around. We are going back to the 90s when there were dominant teams like postal service and even weak riders became superhumans. It's very boring and also danish people and north Europe teams are renewd for doping.
@@matteogamba3236 Really. Sounds more like sour grapes from a Pogachar fan.
@@matteogamba3236 Haha, cry is free. If you think Pogacar is not doped but Vingegaard is you're deluded
Jonas smoked Jai on the climb too. Wild riding today. Great win for Hindley!
Jonas is that Guy!!
This JV team is scary imagine if Roglic was also participating
Can't wait for tomorrow
I think Jonas will put 2 min in to pogacar
So you want another boring 2 weeks ..like tour 2021, when pogacar had 5 minutes on everyone. And nothing happened until the end
@@ankaslodek3759 yeah..no. I can see hindley losing a lot of time quite soon
@ankaslodek3759 If jonas puts yhe hammer down, hinley is getting dropped. This tour runs through JV and how they want to play it from now on.
