We keep seeing and hearing about Liverpool going for Geertruida, and I have consistently commented that I think that is a waste of money because he is just the same as Joe Gomez (right footed, and plays RB, RCB, DM and occasionally LB), so it makes no sense unless we are also going to sell Gomez and I have not seen any such suggestions (no surprise after the season he's just had). I think there is a much higher chance that we will sign a left footer who can do the same on the left hand side (and provide much needed quality cover for VVD, and a quality alternative to Robbo). Colwill, Calafiori, Huijsen, Doyle, Pacho, Beraldo and maybe even Branthwaite (if Everton talk sense on the price) would all fit the bill there. Interesting analysis, so thank you. Re the central question(s) (1) will this approach work in the Prem, and (2) do Liverpool have the players to execute it ? The second one is easier to answer, which is undoubtedly yes. In both CBs (assuming Quansah and VVD) and FBs (assuming TAA/Bradley and Robbo) they have players who are very good at passing the ball quickly and accurately and FBs who are comfortable being in the attacking spaces. In midfield, we have such a rich pool of talents, that I am sure both the double pivots and the attacking threesome can all be filled by players we already have (Mac can def do what Weiffer does, which is the critical role, and do it better. TAA can bring an offensive quality through passing and running with the ball that is beyond anything Feyenoord has. Elliott (and maybe Salah, Jota and even Carvalho) can do the 10 role very well I am sure. So from a midfield perspective I am sure we already have the players he needs. Up front it's more tricky. We do not have a fast, penetrative RW (Mo is past it, and Doak and Gordon are not ready yet) and we also do not have a striker I can be 100% sure can fit the bill. Darwin could do it easily if Slot can somehow improve his timing (of runs) and his finishing; Gakpo could maybe do it if Slot can make him more aggressive and assertive; Jota could do it if he wasn't such a fitness liability. Maybe he will want some time to work with them both then decide later (Jan or maybe next summer). LW I am sure Diaz or Gakpo can do the job, even Jota if fit. Re the first question - can it work in the Prem ? - I think it could. Prem midfields and defences are of course stronger and quicker and better technically than those in the Eredevisie, but the players he will have available are also a lot better, so that alone should not stop it working. I par like some aspects of it - I really like the use of through balls and cutbacks over crosses (which I think are very inefficient), I really like the use of a 10 and a double pivot (both give us much more control over the Klopp chaos approach in the two key areas - defending our box and attacking theirs). The really big question mark for me is that this video (and nearly all the others I have seen) focus almost completely on when we are in possession, and totally ignore how it works and what it requires (skills and player wise) when the other side has possession. Maybe I should do that video ! LOL
You are right. It's always the off the ball football that is the least understood and that becomes the downfall of Dutch coaches(e.g. Ten Hag at united) but especially coaches thought to be offensive. And just like with ten hag and united, the squad composition naturally has to be factored when analysing whether or not slot will fit as a coach. Offensive football is great and all but can he avoid drawing and or losing those mid table matches away to wolves, Bournemouth, crystal palace, Brentford, Brighton, west ham, Newcastle etc? My take on the off the ball question is that coaches who are good at it, are usually good at finding solutions to problems (think prime Mourinho telling like Shaw exactly where to stand during whole match). It's hard to judge Slots ability to solve those kind of problems until he has been tested by PL Quality opposition.
@@randju Diaz is not a 10 in a million years. But luckily, as per my post, he does not need to be - we already have players who fit that bill much better.

This looks like Wenger's tactics. High defensive line and piercing the opposition with short one touch passes by technically gifted midfielders. It will bring big wins and big losses at the same time
I actually think I we will concede less, as the biggest problem with the current Liverpool team is how open we are ok the counter. This removes that problem.
@@ralf-5 without saying that wenger in his last years was already a bit clueless defensively and didn't plan tactics based on counter pressing and defending in midfield lower positions (which is something new managers already get taught at UEFA coaching courses)

I'm not too sure about that field tilt data part. I feel like that highlights more about how dominant they are in each leagues, not how Slot and Klopp want to play football. Most managers at top clubs nowadays want to hold the ball higher on the pitch.
Imagine learning under Klopp, then having Slot come in to add to your knowledge and tactical skilkset without having to unlearn anything really... AND keeping in mind it's a rare case of the previous manager retiring in a positive moment, so the players don't need to be "picked up." Also, the players have had extra time knowing who was next in charge, and no doubt have been watching some of his previous work. We're going to see something very, VERY special with Slot and Liverpool.
To see Slot's tactics at higher level look at Atletico Madrid - Feyenoord, Champions League oct 2023. The 0-1 is exactly what you analyse at 6.15. Imagine this gameplan with the quality players of Liverpool!
Maccalister is amazing in those tight spaces in midfield so I can’t wait to see him play under slot. And VVD is the worlds best ball playing centerback so ofc he will thrive
Can I apply to be your assistant? You don't even have to pay me. Just let me give my thoughts on some analysis. You've analysed Arne Slot's tactics and Liverpool really well. In my opinion, Klopp was more interested in an engine midfield over one that is balanced in both technique and engine. Slot overloading the midfield with Macca and Szobo may fail seriously as they're not designed to play in tight spaces. Slot will need to bring in atleast one quality technical 10 to bring balance. In DM I believe Endo can work like Wieffer. At premier league level, Arne Slot's style could have him end up just like Arsenal, he could fall under the shadow of Guardiola who also plays something similar BUT Guardiola does it with better players. Guardiola used midfields of players who are highly physical and SURPRISINGLY highly technical like Rodri, Stones, Akanji. And at the same time has the most technical CM in the premier league Bernanda Silva and the best ST Haaland. So he can either go highly technical for games where opposition could park the bus or go physical for teams like Liverpool that want midfield battle. I always say this, no matter how good a coach is, he can never be the one to play the football.
A problem with this video and similar is that it supposes that these are the only tactics that Slot is capable of implementing. Obviously we have seen many managers believe they have developed an unbeatable system, only to crash and burn, but from everything I have read that is not who Slot is. Those who have worked with him talk of a highly detail oriented man who spends hours studying looking for ways to make improvements to individuals and the team. To me this suggests that he will be looking to adjust successful methods to exploit the opportunities that premier league teams do present. I think two players that might really thrive with slot are Jones and Elliot, Elliot playing much as he has recently while I believe that Slot will be able to develop Jones into a really good 6.
The first thing I think of is that the turns midfielders get in Eredevise could become a lot of backwards passing in PL. Looking forward to see Slot in action but I have no great expectations this season.
I am liking his tactics and style of play and I think both Mo Salah will see more the ball as Trent goes indie during the build up from back. Our midfield will also see more of the ball which is a HUGE departure from Klopp who bypassed the midfield completely and use them as as defense. Think city proofed that possession ball will win u the EPL if the players are brave and stick to the passing plan
Do you think you could put a pin in this one for next season, resurrect your thoughts on ten haag from his ajax and 22/23 united days, see how bosz does this season, add in van gaal(netherlands) and koeman(barca) and then maybe contrast how their fortunes went, i.e. a longform on these modern dutch coaches? For Slot, I have seen a lot of different opinions from four four two, james allcott, statman dave, redmen tactics board, RDF, (probably tifo in their at some point) on how slot could set up, all have been subtly different. My big question is if the new sporting infrastructure might bring back Ian Graham and try to find a coach that fits their data models on the most efficient way to play the game. If Slot is that guy, then we may really be seeing a more continental style of the tactics and inclinations of the sporting director coming to the fore, rather than specific choices from Slot.
Goncalo Inacio would be a perfect fit for slot tactic. He's good in passing both short and long passing. He's fast if in a situation they make a mistake in the passes in recuperating the ball or defending
Good video, Liverpool's build up play last season was lacking and very poor at times, hopefully Slot will sort this area out. Ideally want to avoid going down this route of buying new manager's previous players but Liverpool needs a no.6 and new CB. I wouldn't mind Wieffer and Geertruida.
Question....watching from the Caribbean, back in my teens, Road to Wembley, didn't Liverpool's midfield (Peter Beardsley, Houghton, Jan Molby, Barnes out wide, Rush up front - can't remember all the names of those great players) didn't they play a type of tiki-taka football, direct through opposition defenders, regroup, retain the ball & build again....so isn't this kinda like that under Slot....Just asking?
Perhaps it would be better to see it in relation to the transfer business they do this summer. Because if you look at the personnel, Liverpool have the right players. But in the positions that are the main core of Arne Sloat's tactics, namely defensive-midfield & right-back, I don't think they keep up with his style. 1st, Wataru Endo is not as capable of scanning free spaces as Wiefer and comfortable playing in tight spaces. 2nd Alexander-Arnold doesn't play the same style as Geertruida. He often makes mistakes and doesn't play with tenacity. So they will need to buy Wiefer and Geertruida if they can in these two positions or players who fit Slot's tactics. ❤❤❤❤
Macca is going to love Slott. His system is made for a 6 like Macca. Quansah and Ibou can oass, although a prime Matip would have a been ideal for this. TAA could excel i this sytem but ... his ability to play with his back to the opposition and then turn with ball and go, a crucial skill for any central mid, is unproven. We'll see. I have few c9ncerns about the fwds. Darwin is actually awesome. He just needs to calm down in front of goal. Diaz is also excellent. As is Jota when healthy. Neverm8nd Gakpo who may throve the most under Slott.
It’s positive pressing, always have 1 player (striker or cam) running up till the rival team loses the ball or dribbel to long they will intercept the ball and press with, timber or santi & wieffer or defenders do this saw this a lot at the kuip and they search the wingers a lot and takes a lot of energy but it was so beautiful tactic to see,I can’t wait for the new Feyenoord manager to come with new tactics and high pressing
I think we will have a tough start to the premier league season as we will still be trying to adapt with slots style but later into the season we will eventually get 2nd or even 1st. Man City in my opinion will probably fall down the table a lot because haaland may be leaving
I feel sad for Poch though. The upcoming season could have been the best shot to for Chelsea to challenge Arsenal and City for the title with the form they finished the last season with.
@@rachitdang7453 just when they'd began to settle down with the coach's style...then he gets sacked..this is just like going back to square one...new coach tactics again....

You all think Arne Slot is ten hag, he is way ahead tactically..Arne Slot is one of the mos tactically flexible managers i know...Man is an hybrid of Pep & De zerbi..Can also mimic big ange style of play and constantly adapt to his opposition...Slot will slot in nicely at Arnefield...
Still LFC needs an other addition of decent energetic box to box slightly tall Defensive Midfielder players. But Arne Slot primary duty must be addressing forward line issue before everything. An other talented central Defender must be added in my opinion
I concur. Overloading the centre of the pitch will surely fail in the premier league. Too many teams stay compact and will win the ball back easily.. keeping width(even if you don't use it) creates gaps in the defence. The trent right to left switch is a prime example, which causes absolute havoc; the Bosnia game a prime example. Trent switches out to the left wing, defenders track, ball gets played into Bowen for a great chance. I really hope Arne can learn quickly and adapt, because the premiership is a different beast.
We need a top class CDM ..... we never bought one last season (or the one before) and it showed over time (no offence to endo who is decent).....hearing rumours of Ederson which would be great !
Yeah Slot is gonna have to work on this one, the prem has a lot of pace. Them high central clusters are priming for pacey winger to go over the top from % ball if possession is lost
I don't think we need to sign anyone tbh. Maybe the successor to Salah and a LB.Gakpo has to play LW and share the minutes with Diaz. Otherwise we're stacked everywhere.
I think Liverpool need a better defensive midfielder. Chieck Doucoure at Palace would fit the bill. That is if they can't get someone of the highest caliber like Tchouameni They need more steel in there if they want to compete wit the big boys.
It's not just that the Premier League midfielders are faster and stronger is that Liverpool don't have these midfielders. Other than Mac Allister all other Liverpool midfielders need space to operate. Offensively it could help Salah who only has short intricate passes and his brain left to work with. Nunez finds space too. But other than these 3, all others would need to adopt.
Is this era, we now need a good RB or LB or CDM who doesn't over move, other he will face it rough. You saw how spurs suffered abt Manager landing into his technique
First of all, Liverpool don't have players with good enough ball control to play this way in the Premier League. Nunez and Szoboszlai are average in this aspect, as is Endo. Diaz also looks average in small spaces when compared to wingers such as Olise and Mitoma. This tactic could work well in City, for example. Liverpool would have to significantly rebuild the squad and bring in players more capable of playing quickly in small spaces.
Klopp sort of dropped Konate for Quansah during the last few games. I wonder if Konate's time as starter is more or less over, considering Quansah's elite ball-playing capabilities?

LOL
Good view i concur YNWA
Awesomely spot on
Luis Diaz 10, Gakpo LW, Macca and Szobozslai double pivot 😅
@@randju Diaz is not a 10 in a million years. But luckily, as per my post, he does not need to be - we already have players who fit that bill much better.
Great analysis and comparisons. We'll wait to see what our dear Slot brings to the table.
Wow! Watching this vid before the Liverpool vs Preston highlights reel is eye opening. This is exactly how Slot made Liverpool play. Crazy that it's been only 2 weeks of training with Liverpool's B and C team. Crazy!
Thanks for the video Bern doing research since we got him and this video gave us fans clear understanding on what to expect and gave me more hope he will be successful
Always enjoy your content. Hope your analytics career is progressing well. 😊
Thank you Kimberley I appreciate the constant support! Yes it's going well, I have some really interesting projects coming up🙌
This looks like Wenger's tactics. High defensive line and piercing the opposition with short one touch passes by technically gifted midfielders. It will bring big wins and big losses at the same time
damn
I actually think I we will concede less, as the biggest problem with the current Liverpool team is how open we are ok the counter. This removes that problem.
@@ralf-5 without saying that wenger in his last years was already a bit clueless defensively and didn't plan tactics based on counter pressing and defending in midfield lower positions (which is something new managers already get taught at UEFA coaching courses)
I disagree they don’t concede much xg
Who Liverpool? Have you watched us this season?
Barcelona just signed Hansi Flick, can you please give us analysis and tactical changes we might see. Pros and Cons, short term and longterm goals and solutions, is it trophy guaranteed??? And what's your take on him as a Barcelona coach.
Do you know how much I was waiting for you to drop Arne slot video literally everyday I was checking if u did drop one. Always always enjoy your content 🙌
I'm not too sure about that field tilt data part. I feel like that highlights more about how dominant they are in each leagues, not how Slot and Klopp want to play football. Most managers at top clubs nowadays want to hold the ball higher on the pitch.
Fantastic analysis! Can I ask what software you use to do your tactics? Thanks!
Could you please do a video analysis about the Nigeria national team and how they fell from grace I would really appreciate it.
Oh God, I’m a Liverpool fan and judging by what I’m seeing, I feel he can do a good job. hopefully
As a Feyenoord season ticket holder I’ve seen and heard slot a lot. I know he is the best man for the job.
@@jaribal7843 I hope you’re right
Excellent break down. 👍 Can't wait for the new season to start.
Need Enzo Maresca
Why? Knowing Chelsea, he won't last the season! 😂
Can you delve in to the similarities in difference between Enzo maresca and pep style and inverted full back system
Can you please do an analysis on Hansi Flick and what he can do with Barcelona!
Anything but afford players
Excellent video as per usual! Bravo!
Do one on Hansi Flick in Barcelona! 🔥
In my opinion that right full back specific setup it what makes Geertruida really thrives this past 2 season and should also applied to trent
I think we will have a tough start to the premier league season as we will still be trying to adapt with slots style but later into the season we will eventually get 2nd or even 1st. Man City in my opinion will probably fall down the table a lot because haaland may be leaving
Next season's football already sounds exciting, with these new coaches and Thier tactics...can't wait👍
@@chrollo5390 He wasn't sacked. He just left the club because of hierarchy issues with Todd.
Good stuff! Thank you! I am excited to see this new Liverpool as well.
Those players are looking to be the next academy products to earn spots in Arne Slot squad. Sepp Van Den Berg,Owen Beck,Tyler Morton,Fabio Carvalho,Dominic Corness,Melkamu Fraunedorf,Luke Chambers,Amara Nallo,Bobby Clark,James Mc Cornell, Lewis Koumas,Jayden Danns,Musialowski, and Harvey Blair
Awesome analysis my bro. What software do you use for your simulations?
We need kompany tactics video 👏🏻❤️❤️
Watching this. Ide really love weiffer and guirtruda at liverpool.
What kind of graphic program did you use ?
we would need more decisive one touch pass and wiser positioning. the total football of this advantage is more one touch drills
I like 2 4 4 formation .. so i most the prefect manager !
Analysis on Maresca please?
We need a top class CDM ..... we never bought one last season (or the one before) and it showed over time (no offence to endo who is decent).....hearing rumours of Ederson which would be great !
I hope he does a great job. I simpatize with Liverpool in England
Please do a maresca video
@FootballMeta - why only 9 outfield players in 07:42 Chance Creation section?
Yeah Slot is gonna have to work on this one, the prem has a lot of pace. Them high central clusters are priming for pacey winger to go over the top from % ball if possession is lost
1:10 What software are you using? Can you teach me ?
Klopp demand high aggresive on the ball off the ball, arne slot demand quality pass and move, thats quite differences on both principles.
Nice video but is it possible that Slot uses a different system as he has different players and different opposition?
Can you please make a video about maresca and how you see his tactics being utilized at chelsea and players you feel will suit his tactics
This was great, as usual!
best analysis ❤
McKenna next!!
Good analysis
Do vid for new brighton manager....innovative crazy tactics.
I don't think we need to sign anyone tbh. Maybe the successor to Salah and a LB.Gakpo has to play LW and share the minutes with Diaz. Otherwise we're stacked everywhere.
Can you do a video for Barcelona new manager like this
De ligt would definitely shine here, he is very good on the ball and likes to pass it long as well.
I like Slot the fresh approach as Liverpool keep giving away the 1st goal.
Obviously the other team sits back then for some reason.
I think Liverpool need a better defensive midfielder.
Chieck Doucoure at Palace would fit the bill. That is if they can't get someone of the highest caliber like Tchouameni
They need more steel in there if they want to compete wit the big boys.
Kindly do Chelsea with Enzo Maresca's tactical system
i was interesting about how hes gonna use endo
Hi. Please do an analysis on Pioli and Fonseca. Grazie.
Great video mate
Nice but you didn't tell us about their defensive system which is very important in the EPL
think you are spot on!
Good analysis 👌
It's not just that the Premier League midfielders are faster and stronger is that Liverpool don't have these midfielders. Other than Mac Allister all other Liverpool midfielders need space to operate. Offensively it could help Salah who only has short intricate passes and his brain left to work with. Nunez finds space too. But other than these 3, all others would need to adopt.
Buy new, klopp bought now slot
Ryan gravenberch will be amazing in his system
Is this era, we now need a good RB or LB or CDM who doesn't over move, other he will face it rough. You saw how spurs suffered abt Manager landing into his technique
I love your work pls do a video on Enzo maresca pls
Can you make a video like this of brian priske what he can perform at Feyenoord?
Arne'a rb tactics would work better with Bradley, but trent is trent so I wonder what Arne will do. This seems like a tricky choice..
I think that Lewis Dunk might be interesting in this system
MacAllister, Gakpo, Jones are going to be scary in this system
Need analysis on Brazil's Dorival Jr
First of all, Liverpool don't have players with good enough ball control to play this way in the Premier League. Nunez and Szoboszlai are average in this aspect, as is Endo. Diaz also looks average in small spaces when compared to wingers such as Olise and Mitoma. This tactic could work well in City, for example. Liverpool would have to significantly rebuild the squad and bring in players more capable of playing quickly in small spaces.
Enzo maresca analysis 🙏🏽
Chelsea and Enzo Maresca, please!
Klopp sort of dropped Konate for Quansah during the last few games. I wonder if Konate's time as starter is more or less over, considering Quansah's elite ball-playing capabilities?
